Thank You for this film, Sir. You are one of the few foreigners who pronounce the name of the place very good. It is Bełżec. Not "Belzek" like others say.
Incomprehensible. Mind-boggling. Beyond anything us rational, decent, civilized moral human beings can possibly understand. That goes for all the extermination/concentration/slave labor camps wherever they are. I have never been to any of them, but your videos give us a glimpse of what it's like to stand in a place where such monstrous evil was perpetrated. It must be extremely moving to stand there and look around, and imagine what happened.
Joanne Niemanns album Fotos of Sobibor enable you to view for the first time the appearance of a Reinhardt death camp which the Nazis went to great lengths to conceal
Sobering place. I know the archeology was relatively curtailed because of the religious concerns....leaving many unanswered questions. Now beyond research.
Alan Heath there was drilling across a grid, I think I read, is that right? Kola’s investigation building on the 1961 efforts? I thought they had trouble identifying the gas chamber, as strange materials, including felt, were uncovered? The amount of documentary materials about belzec has always been small....the Nazis did a good job of covering their tracks. I know they found the grave pits, and I know they found layers of ash, and human wax-fat accretions consistent with Sonderaktion 1005. But so few survivors for added eyewitness testimony. All we seem to have is the Gerstein report. But the locals, who were so close, must have known what was going on....
@@vnurcombe I interviewed one or two locals but Michael Tregenza interviewed a lot from the 1960s onwards. The monument to the gas chamber was in the wrong place. I can't remember anything about felt there but that would be logical in the double wall of the chamber.

Thanks for being here Anna. However I speak Polish, without which it would be impossible to do Holocaust research!

The killers were aware of this and believed that some people could not imagine them doing this kind of thing. "It's too outrageous to believe".
Yet I get the impression that the majority of humans, put in the same environment and circumstance, would behave in the same way.
Excellent. I didn't think there was a memorial for Belzec, its nice to know there is one. I can't wait to see these for myself. Awesome video.

Just as they've done with Sobibor and Treblinka, pouring cement all over the place, dumping stones and rocks. I don't get it...
Did it rain there cause the floor is wet and I can hear splashing as u walk
It rained over night but was not raining whilst I was there!
Sombre place. I can hear the weariness in your voice.
Oh so moving Alan!

No, that did not happen. I was there during the excavations and I don't think that they could have done much more!
