- The Puff Stitch Bag has been my best-selling pattern and best-selling market item for over a year. Not only does it have a beautiful and interesting stitch pattern, the technique of making the last round into your zippered lining makes it look more polished and professional.
For an Ad-free, printable pdf pattern, you can find it in my Etsy shop Dayscrochetnc at www.etsy.com/listing/69242523...
Or in Ravelry at www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...

There are SO MANY ways you can change this pattern up to make other looks! I have several other tutorials that show you how to embellish your bag, as well as how to change the look entirely with a simple switch of zipper direction. In addition to watching this tutorial, you will also need to watch the following tutorials to complete your bag (I use the zippered lining on my Bobble Bag tutorial as well):

Supplies Needed:
-Approximately 150-200 yards of your choice of yarn (I usually use size 4 ww and size 5 bulky weight yarns). For this tutorial, I use Caron Pantone X in the color Moody Pumpkins Find it on Amazon using my affiliate link here: amzn.to/34zRbG2
-Suggested hook size on yarn packaging (I use a J 6.0 mm hook)
-Sizes F 3.75 mm and H 5.0 mm hooks for brim rounds
-A matching fat quarter of fabric, or a piece of fabric that is at least 10” x 10” (25 x 25 cm). You can find fat quarters for around $1 at Wal-mart. They are pieces of fabric pre-cut to a quarter of a yard.
-A matching 7” (18 cm) or 9” (23 cm) zipper
-Matching thread for sewing fabric liner
-Approximately 4’ of embroidery thread that matches your zipper color and a sharp ribbon needle (it looks like a yarn needle, only much sharper. It will be used to sew back stitches in the zipper going through the fabric and zipper lip. See photo below.)
-Sewing notions, such as: straight pins, sewing needle, and small hemming ruler (If you are using a sewing machine, you will need both a regular sewing foot and a zipper foot).
-Scissors, stitch marker, tape measure, yarn needle
-Embellishments of your choice, such as beads and tassels. If you follow my beaded tassel tutorial, I also use Monofilament Illusion cord from the bead section at my local craft store. It is for beading jewelry, and it does not stretch.
Finished Measurements:
You can make your bag to be any size you desire, but I tend to make mine 7” (18 cm) x 5” (13 cm).

This is so adorable!! I'm in love with the color choices. It all comes together very nicely. Thank you for sharing your pattern and tips. You do a great job of not over explaining, your voice is soothing. And with no loud obnoxious music in the background- was a HUGE bonus. 👍👍👏
Thank you so much for your kind feedback ❤️
Your method of lining a crochet bag is brilliant! Game changer!
Stacy Click thank you!!
I'm a hand knitter and finally deciding to learn crochet. As a beginner, you inspire me to create chic and beautiful crochet projects. Your style and choices of colours are what really inspired me to give crochet a try as I find most crochet too old looking. Thank you for all you do. I must let you know how much appreciate you. I love your voice and your way of teaching. Big thanks from Canada.
You have totally made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such kind feedback ❤️
This is now my favorite crochet tutorial! I had so much fun learning how to make this bag as it was super fun and easy following along. So much I couldn't resist sharing this link with family and friends so they too can learn. Thanks so much for your inspiration!
Thank you, Tiffany! I’m so glad you liked it❤️
This is a great tutorial! I like the colors of both bags!
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it!
This is a wonderful tutorial. You are so patient and great at explaining everything. Thanks also for the tip going around the corner as I always tend to do accidental increases too. Hugs from Canada. 🇨🇦
Thank you! 🤗
Wiooooow that actually looks like a real bag right there cause its beauty🧡
Thank you so much!
Love the color and so beautiful crochet
Beautiful bag!
Kristy Turley thanks so much!
A fantastic tutorial 👏
Thank you!
So beautiful 😍 💖
I LOVE it
That is the most beautiful cosmetic bag I’ve ever seen! I’m not sure I can do it tho!
Marcia Morrow thank you! You got this 💪🏻 How will you know if you never try? Give it a whirl!
Wow I really like your crochet work ! Thank you so much !!
Gladis glz thank you!
Great tutorial.
I was close to using just one skein! But I needed 3 more puffs!! 😩
what yarn are you crocheting with in the tutorial? it doesn't look like the caron pantone x one - it looks silkier thanks!
Can u use a Tshirt yarn for this?
I am already working on one :D I love it how you explain it and so detailed about it. Do you by any chance have a video explaining how to work this pattern on rows instead of rounds?
I do not, but I’m sure someone does. I would search for a slanted puff stitch
@@DaysCrochet Okay. Thanks a bunch :D
I’m going to try this 🤗🧶🇨🇦
Yay! They are so addictive to make. I hope you enjoy making it ❤️
which yarn are you using in this tutorial seems different from the caron pantone?
I mentioned in the video that I switched to a different yarn because the Pantone is too dark. Unfortunately, the yarn I switched to has been discontinued 😔 I don’t remember the name of it but it was very similar to Bernat Home Maker Dec yarn carried by Yarnspirations
What kind of yarn do u use for this? Sorry I’m new and I really want to make this.
It’s Caron Pantone X by Yarnspirations, but you can use any size 4 worsted weight yarn. If you use t-shirt yarn it will be much larger than mine. If I’m being honest, this is not what I would consider a beginner project. You may end up wanting to pull your hair out before it’s done lol
Would I still be able to use this as a guide even if I wanted the bag to be a bit bigger?
Yes! I have the written pattern on my blog that tells you the math at daysck.com
Hi
I can't find hiw to di zip
I loved making this bag. It doesn't take a lot of yarn and I have been making it with some scrapes that I had from previous projects. I have a few of them done, just need to add liners and zippers. My 12yo daughter is learning to sew, so she can make the liners and get some practice on her sewing machine.
QUESTION: What are you using to make the bag at the beginning? It looks like cord, but I really like the material.
It’s a discontinued yarn, but yarnspirations carries a similar one called Bernat Home Maker Dec. it’s a tubular yarn with a light polyfil stuffing in the middle. It’s my absolute favorite yarn but it’s sometimes hard to find. I hope this helps!
@@DaysCrochet Awesome!! Thank you so much!!
Hi great tutorial! Which yarn do you use at the video ? It looks elastic
It was discontinued years ago, unfortunately. The closest equivalent here in the US would be Lion Brand Lazy Days. Hobbii has similar yarns but I have never ordered any to compare.
Hi. How did you line the bag with fabric? Please, answer⭐
See minute 16:44
Thank you
I stay in india. Which thread and which needle should we use? Please please reply
All the supplies I used are listed in the description box below the video. Click on the tiny down arrow to the bottom right of the video to expand the description box. Once there, you will need to search the yarn on the internet to see what it is made of etc, to see what yarns are available in your craft stores that are similar. Good luck!
Hi there, I am confused actually..... Whenever I am making 40 chains(multiple of 2) I end up with 35 puffs .... How can I fix this? What am I doing wrong??
I’m not sure what you are doing wrong🤔 I have a written pattern that might benefit you since you are struggling.
Can I know how long does your hook is?
My supplies are listed in the description box below the video. Click the tiny down arrow to the bottom right of the video to expand the description box. I hope this helps!
I have a question how long is the Zipper
The bag is so beautiful 😍

@@DaysCrochet thank you 😊
This is so beautiful! I bought your pattern. Do you think it’d be possible to sew the zipper to the crochet using a sewing machine? I avoid hand sewing like the plague. 😅
You probably could if you feel comfortable doing so!
What hook size and weight yarn are you using in this pattern?
All the supplies should be listed in the description box below the video☺️
Thank you ❤
Is the fabric lining obligatory? Can I just leave it out?
I’m not really sure if I would leave it out. You run the risk of items falling out. But you could always test it out to see if the items you would be putting in it would fall out. If not, then you’re probably fine to leave it out. I personally will always put in the lining because it makes them sell better.
Where do I find liner tutorial.
It’s linked in the description box below the video. Click on the tiny down arrow to the bottom right of the video to expand the description box
What size hook do you use?
All the info should be in the description box below the video ☺️
What kind of yarn that you use?
All supplies should be listed in the description box below the video
Why is it so hard to pull the needle out of the puff stitch?
You are probably crocheting too tightly or you may not be bringing your loops up to the level of your stitch, making the loops shorter and harder to pull through. You may want to also turn the needle part of your hook down and inward so it doesn’t snag the loops of your puffs. I hope I’m making sense!
What type of yarn are u using?
Isabella White it’s Caron Pantone X in the color Moody Pumpkins. You can find it on yarnspirations.com
@@DaysCrochet That was my question too! That pink looks like Bernat Maker! It doesn't look like a merino wool blend at all.
Stacy Click oh you mean in the first 4 rounds? That’s a discontinued yarn. It’s identical to Bernat Home Maker Dec yarn, but they no longer make it. I bought a ton on clearance from WEBS yarn website several months ago. I thought y’all were asking about the main bag 😄 Sorry about that!
@@DaysCrochet the pink really is Caron Pantone X?? It does look different from the yarn used in the finished bag 🤔
@@DaysCrochet ding dang!! 😆 Bernat Maker is my favorite! So hard to find. What a score you found!!
Slow it down some, please
You are able to slow it down in your settings ☺️
