A VOIR .

When Cziffra first appeared in London in the late 1950s critics praised his variety of touch, poetry, light and shade as much as his incredible virtuosity.

WHAT A CANTABILE sound in the opening Nocturne (and throughout of course)... this is surely one of the most precious gems on RUclips. I like it even more that you hear the coughs and that it is clearly a bootleg. One feels that one was there and that whomever recorded it really KNEW the historical importance of it being documented.

Thank you very much for this treasure! Despite the audio quality it is a pleasure to listen to this recital.
Nice photo aswell; it's a memorial plate at the Cziffra György park in Budapest. They used an excerpt from my transcription of his warm-up improvisation without asking..

@EasyListeningLounge Rather enjoy the eco effect in the recording. Can't say the same about the people coughing.

      😂
But I think it should be an honor that you're transcription is visible to people of all kinds now! Pity they didn't ask though

Wouldn't it be possible to engineer this recording, to remove the non-musical background noises--coughing, etc.--and perhaps reduce the room reverb a bit? The result would really be worth the effort.

I wonder why he never composed a cadenza for HR2.
