It is a little unreasonable for them not to just mention it. I completely understand needing time to cook. But just drop that anywhere in the note. Adding something at the bottom like "We understand you have been greatly anticipating a new gameplay patch with ringmaster. Although we would like to release that now we need more time to whatever, and we have no release date yet." Or just some number tweaks on a letter patch.
