I just heard 'bye bye bye bye ...baby good bye' on 1278 AM radio - first time in years , which led me to this song from 1959 - the year I was born. Oh man what a great sound ! There is no doubt in my mind the music was better back then. Very rare to get beautiful melody & harmony & sweet words in a song these days.
Lets get it right this time. Col was a true pioneer. This was the first time in history that teenagers had a life and Col made music for them,His songs were about love and respect and everything that was decent and honourable in a teenager. But the old folks just didnt get it,they didnt want teenagers even thinking about love so they tried to get his music banned, but didnt happen and Col and his ilk are what shaped my life and I grew up ok...........OH YEAH UH HUH...
Col do you remember maureen kennett. Lovely lady. Geoff steele. Thanks col for the tickets to jok shout. Loved your music as kid. Now 76. Oh yeah ahha. 8/7/23😊
+John Antom-McSmith um.... No.... Not bullshit.... Truth. I am confused by your reply? Why would I bullshit about my uncle? Or bullshit that he is my uncle? My maiden name was Bogie, and my dad and John were brothers.
Col Joye is my Great Uncle some way or the other , never met ( like most of my Family ) also related to Malcolm Fraser ,,not that I shout that out loud lol
Do you know Jim Reeves? I'm a 25 year old who's an old soul lol, and I stumbled across his and similar music and I absolutely love it! World has changed quite a bit.
I'm so old I can remember when this first came out. One of those ones that hangs around in your head.......well for 40 years!! My favourite Col recording was Rockin Rollin Clementine. Few years ago was a video here of him singing it but has disappeared. Curses!
Lyrics: If you wanna be happy Come along with me Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh I wanna hold you close Beneath the bamboo tree Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh We'll take a vacation Go away to stay Where there'll be no work There'll be nothin' but play Walk down to the river To a baby nook Make a love like they do In the story books Well I wouldn't tell a story No I would not lie Oh-oh no, uh-huh Gonna love you pretty baby Till the day I die Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh You go home and tell your mama Tell your papa too Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh That you wanna get married 'Cause your love is true Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh We'll take a vacation Go away to stay Where there'll be no work There'll be nothin' but play Walk down to the river To a baby nook And make a love like they do In the story books Well I wouldn't tell a story No I would not lie Oh-oh no, uh-huh Gonna love you pretty baby Till the day I die Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh.
@nicco47 Sorry I didnt mean to upset anyone. My comments were all meant in jest. I cant remember what I said now. my "Buell speedo" video was made on an old airfield runway and is closed to the public. And yes it shook like mad, I had the steering damper wound up to max as for british bikes, I've had plenty and loved them all for all their faults and just bought a brand new Royal Enfield for my girlfriend.(on my channel) I just wish I could remember what I said that upset you. Dean...
There are 2 Jacobsen brothers. The lead singer here, who's proff. working name was Col Joye, and then his brother, who l think is Kevin, who is a pianist, but mostly concentrated on music promotion, concerts etc. He's not in this video. Both of these guys were great encouragers/ mentors of the Bee Gees, in their early Australian days.
My good mate Dave Bridge - man, I miss you and your silly humour........when Dave would get too smart with words, I would hit back with Shut Up Bridgette.......sorry Dave, the world knows now.
first time I've seen the drummer for ages. ( usually obscured by ego ). It occurs to me that every time I try typewriter percussion, the bloody keys get stuck Good onya Johnny B. Funny.
I think I know every word to this song ,has been a favourite for over 50 years. Thanks Col.

Someone had told Col to "be more animated"....so, boy, did he pour it on. Great song. The typewriter was a stroke if genius.

Great version, I am familiar with the Mickey and Sylvia version. Thanks for posting this one.

Lyrics:
If you wanna be happy
Come along with me
Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh
I wanna hold you close
Beneath the bamboo tree
Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh
We'll take a vacation
Go away to stay
Where there'll be no work
There'll be nothin' but play
Walk down to the river
To a baby nook
Make a love like they do
In the story books
Well I wouldn't tell a story
No I would not lie
Oh-oh no, uh-huh
Gonna love you pretty baby
Till the day I die
Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh
You go home and tell your mama
Tell your papa too
Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh
That you wanna get married
'Cause your love is true
Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh
We'll take a vacation
Go away to stay
Where there'll be no work
There'll be nothin' but play
Walk down to the river
To a baby nook
And make a love like they do
In the story books
Well I wouldn't tell a story
No I would not lie
Oh-oh no, uh-huh
Gonna love you pretty baby
Till the day I die
Oh-oh yeah, uh-huh.

50s Uh Huh!
Hi there! Can anyone tell me where this footage is from originally - I'm looking to license it for a film.
Hi, I am also interested to know where this footage is sourced from.
I believe this footage is taken from Bert Newton's Hi-Fi Club circa about February 1960.
@murphstrings This recording is from 1959, I would call it a draw.
What I don't get is why people waste their time by watching these videos then saying they are gay (I think its awesome :D).
The first air guitar player????
