i watched a lot of terrarium making youtubers over the last couple of weeks, but honestly youre the only one whom i actually think they stand out and have their own identity ^^ others just blend in tbh XD soooo, im subbing to u, and looking forward to more of your content! :3
Thanks! I looked it up and I think you are right. I have a lot of springtails in there of another species. I guess this is a pretty big species of springtail? Good to know!
Wonderful set up! Fun to watch its growth and the plants/insects that are thriving. For someone just starting out, what advice do you have? Where to buy the insects, substrate, plants etc? Thank you!
Hey man this is kinda 1 year after you posted this video but that "small beetle" tou mentioned is actually a giant springtail! I've been trying to keep those and you just have one in your ecossystem 😂 legend
Amazing! I am making one of my own but I encountered a problem pretty early, and that is fungi. I had to do it all over again, washed everything with enzimatic cleaner... one of my terrariums didn't get it, I'm guessing because this one had charcoal in the substrate..
@@HomemadeEcosystems I have honestly no idea, Just found them in my garden, they are tiny and looks kinda similar to yours, but I think even smaller. like 3mm small
nice to see another person as dumb as me to go for a way less popular pet spider in this video lol, well done man. I myself am working on something for my spider but I am not sure what can injure it when it moults. How is yours doing in there so far? still alive? 😎
Lol 🤣 I'm not sure, he is very small and it has been a week since I have seen him. But I think he was reaching the end of his life span. What species do you have ?
@@HomemadeEcosystems I got lucky or maybe I spent like 30mins of intense search but I now have 1 male and 1 female of the zebra jumping spider, like the one in this video. But I don't know much about them since a lot of stuff on the internet is just speculation. Although mine I can confirm were feasting on spider mites (red and bigger variety) which tend to love grapevine leaves. I still am trying to find something different since they seem grown up. I may just wait for the next generation after they hail at each other and I let them reach in the main enclosure for baby making. I did put 3 fruit flies in one and they dissapeared so maybe that is good. Did you notice anything trying to harm yours? You had hell of a lot of wildlife in there to compare to me, and those spiders are so miniscule lol 🥸
@@HomemadeEcosystems thanks a lot for that info, I was counting on that since I plan to introdue them to a more contained project. Apparently some isopods can be prone to canibalism if they run out of food, so like if plant growth is minimal they will create that imblance and massacre my spider like a side meal at mcdonalds
question: Has the isopod or millipede tried to eat the jumping spider? I know a lot of jumper keepers are afraid that isopods will go after the jumper.

Hope you guys enjoyed the video. If so ,please leave a like and subscribe for more ! 😁

Thank you so much! And welcome to the channel!
2:17 that is not a beetle it is a springtail in the order Entomobryomorpha

🤣
The narration in the later videos really makes me laugh hard
amazing video🐜🐜🐜❤❤❤
Thank you! 😁
It would be cool if you put in a wolf spider, they really enjoy exploring around enclosures or terrariums
I might do this in one of my bigger terrariums. This one is a bit too small for a wolf spuder I think
Ladybugs are aphid killers. Also aphid hunters

btw I made this terrariums specifically for my own tiny jumping spiders. I got 2 spiders in different enclosures.
Thank you ! Yeah fungi can happen. Might be better to let the terrarium develop for a few weeks before adding the spiders. What species do you have?

@@AnaDMTL look it up and see if it's a zebra jumping spider you might be able to work something out then
@@AnaDMTL I think springtails will eat mold/fungi
Cool. I want to do this.
Yes, try it! It is realy nice to watch the animals in there and see the plants develop
Awesome thinking about doing this do you leave the top open and spider stays inside
There is a lid but it is not fully sealed. The spider can get out if it wants
Nice video
Thank you!
Just wondering did you put the millipede there or did it just randomly pop out?
In this one I put a few of them in yes and they multiplied like crazy. But sometimes they hatch from eggs that are already in the soil
Bob is life
How many jumping spiders are in there?
There was just one but it is probably not in there anymore
ants eat jumping spiders btw
Thanks for the info! There are only a few lonely ants in there not a whole colony so I'm not worried about that

@@ragingcalmness7815 no, I didn't see something harm them. I have seen them hunt springtails so that is an option as a food source 😁

Make a glass bottle but put bugs
Throw in some ladybugs they will take care of those aphids.
Thanks! I've done that a a few weeks ago and the aphids are gone now. The plant in the bottom left died so it might be because of that too

I would't buy anything if you are just starting out just source out of nature (just not too much) like I did for this terrarium
