The most surprising thing for me was my original team, the New England Patriots were who we played in the Super Bowl. It was a dream come true with no real losers for me. My bleeding heart was for the Panthers at this point in my life, but the Pats were always there. This was the game that I lived for. And the way it went down was monumental. A truly perfect season for two great teams that culminated in a almost perfect game. I hope everyone who watches gets the same joy I do when I watch it. Please share with your fellow fans. This was immediately taken over by the NFL for monetization so the only thing I get from it is sharing the memories with fellow Cardiac Cats!
From a Eagles fan. They had heart!!! I usually root for the team that we didn’t loose to but they should have beat the bums from Boston!!!!! Respect 03 Cats
Tell me about it. That Super Bowl was the reason I hated Tom Brady and the pain-in-the-ass Pats all my life. I'll never forget that game for as long as I live 😡😡😡
This was a very interesting team. They didn't have household names that the casual fan would know, yet they really went the distance and almost beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. That was already after two big wins in the playoffs at St. Louis and Philadelphia. I thought John Fox was a perfect fit for the Panthers, and this really felt like a team he molded into a contender.
I mean the Pats had a ton of last minute wins that season too! I remember the defense stopping Edgerrin James in that goal line stand in Indianapolis to seal the win! They also had a crazy game against the Texans they won in overtime! The Superbowl had the 2 best teams in the league going at it for the Lombardi trophy 🏆
This gave me chills! This was the first NFL team and season I ever remember following as a kid. So sad that the Panthers don’t get much of the respect they’ve earned and built my

Panthers team had alot of talent actually. very good offensive skill positions with smith, mohammed who is very underrated and prohl who was part of the greatest show on turf rams sb teams. davis was a highly touted rb at that time and foster had tons of talent out of college before injury in his first season. defense was also stacked. mlb dan morgan forgot about b/c injuries and concussions ended his nfl career but he was a stud. set the record at the time for most tackles in a super bowl. Morgan was out of the U and had the same types of talents other U LBers of that era such as Ray Lewis and Jon Vilma did. Peppers was a athletic freak who was a top 5 pick. Jenkins at DT was a monster who was one of the best in the game.
Came here to see the week 2 game against the defending Superbowl Champs the Bucs where we blocked 3 fg that game...including the blocked XP with 00:00 left in the 4th quarter to force overtime where we won it...I'll never forget that game.
Dan Morgan (MLB #55) was my favorite player on this 2003-2004 Panthers team. He led the team in total tackles & forced fumbles & led the linebacker core in almost every category. He was rightfully voted a Pro Bowler & All-Pro that season. He played his entire 7-year career in Carolina. Should have made 2 Pro Bowls but he did make 1 (his 2005 season was great as well.) concussions shortened what should have been a 10+ year career, he still had the talent later in his career but his style of play took its toll on him and as the concussions piled up he had to step away early. He was the unsung hero of the playoffs...leading the team in tackles in every playoff game, getting a crucial Int. In the Divisional round vs. Philly & setting a Super Bowl Record for Total Tackles with 22 vs. NE. He finished the SB game with 22 tackles (16 solo), 4 tackles for loss, 3 Pass Break ups & 2 QB Pressures. One of the best individual efforts in any SB.
Im sorry but i just have to say i forgot how many wins they had by field goal,s thats crazy win all those games by a field goals then lose The super bowl by a field goal
Out of all of the Patriots SB opponents, this team I was most intimidated by. What they lacked in star power they made up in more resiliency than a swarm of roaches. Thisbwas when John Fox was a criminally underrated coach.
I loved this team so much man, we were stacked in every position. other than qb...but either way I loved every player on this team. all these d lines can't compare to this one

One of other my all-time favorite NFL teams outside of my Chicago Bears is the Carolina Panthers & I remember their 2003-2004 NFL season as if it was literally yesterday & it still kills me, to this day that they went into 'Super Bowl 38' & got killed against the New England Patriots... Kinda like my #5 all-time favorite NFL team, the Oakland Raiders & their 2002-2003 NFL season: They go to 'Super Bowl 37' to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers & they get completely killed.
Got killed by the Patriots might be a little harsh. They lost by a field goal after Casey put the Pats on the 40. And they lost to arguably the greatest quarterback to play the game. It still hurts, but that second half was some of the most exciting football I think I've ever watched.
Yes and no. Diehard Pats fan from Mass now living in Chicago where my wife and BEARS fan is from :). If tommy doesnt throw that boneheaded endzone INT late in 3rd quarter, pats pull away with that game. Adam Vinatieri missed 1 field goal and had another one blocked. So a lot of WHAT IF factors. Truth be told, that super bowl was probably my favorite outside of the seahawks game just because of that stupid delfategate rubbish.
Who else knows every single word of the opening part? 0:00-3:26. I have the DVD and have watched it an ungodly amount of times. I know every single word. #keeppounding
The Cardiac Cats will forever be my favorite era of this team. Lots of people didn't like him after that year, but Jake Delhomme will always be my favorite QB in this team's history because he, Sam Mills, and Steve Smith defined what it meant to be a Carolina Panther.
This was coincidentally the year I got into watching the NFL. Being a Charlotte native, this team and season will always hold a very special place in my heart. My love for the game was cemented in this season - I even used to wear #88 so that “I could stand between Moose and Smith in the team photo when I make it to the NFL” lol Loved this team and those guys - it was such an exciting time.
No way. Moose catching one and taking it to the house for 85 yards could never happen if the NE mafia had any idea what we had planned. I honestly think our D could have held them if that kick was inside the 20.
Remember after the panthers scored that last TD to Ricky Prohl to tie, Kicker John Kasey kicked the kick off out of bounds and gave the Patriots a short field to kick the field goal. That hurt us. For those that remember
Harrison W that's who he's talking about but I don't think that was a legitimate game cause look at the 2016 season opening the broncos won by a point SB50 talib twisted Corey browns helmet almost snapped his neck we didn't get nothing for that that should've been UR.
This was the team that actually set the standard for the Carolina Panthers to this day. Us as Panther fans are still waiting to get back to this glory. True Panther fans of my generation will never forget this.
World breaker Superman How am I hater??? A great season only matters when you win the championship, you think I care about how great the 2004 Steelers were?????
That '03 Carolina team was one of those teams that you see has a good record, see them keep winning games, but still don't think that much about. Mainly because they were never on Monday night, never a featured 4:00 game, and their one appearance on Sunday Night was overshadowed by the pomp and circumstance of Michael Vick's return from injury. But they were one hell of a good team.
john kassay was the goat, kicking the ball out of bounds at the end of the super bowl. which gave the pats the ball at the forty and then brady and the patriots easily took it down to field goal range to win it.
Dang it fox why did you go for 2? TWICE! What the heck also kasay cracked up so the pats would have not kicked forcing brady to hail Mary or making vinitari's kick hard to do.and Carolina would have won anyway
As an Eagles fan, that NFC Championship Game still makes me crazy, even 16-17 years later. The offense managed only one field goal and Donovan McNabb made Ricky Manning look like a star.
