I think it's the den environment of their ancestors, huddling together for safety, warmth and protection from the elements. Plus, everybody likes to have a private space that's only theirs, like guys with their man caves. Come to think of it, some of the men I met during my dating years definitely shared some traits with wolves and cavemen.
Pollux sure did luck out when you two adopted him! He's in such a wonderful home and is so loved now. He got exactly what he deserved (all dogs deserve a wonderful home and to be loved).
That was so intuitive of you to make Pollux a tent! He told you what he needed and you made it happen! I love when dog parents spoil and accommodate their pups!
That’s so sweet that Pollux loves his homemade tent. They are just like children. They love the most simple things. 👍👏😊 My dog Rusty loves to lay behind me on my desk chair…he loves to be right next to me on my couch too. He likes to know I’m right there. He’s my little shadow. 👍🐶😍😊 Thanks for sharing your day with us. 🇨🇦👍😊
How about a kennel with a blanket covering it? We leave our large kennel, covered with a dark blanket open in the living room. Etsy has some, with a wood top that you can use as an end table.
Excellent idea. I actually bought a "mesh" crate, cus I didn't like the metal. It's pretty big. My dog is small and she LOVES it. I have already left her in my room when I went shopping... and when I got home, she was so cozy and happy inside with her big pillow and cotton sheet. Honestly, it was like 20 bucks and she is just fine with it.
I looked at the crate furniture on Etsy! Great idea! There are some really nice pieces on that platform. It would be nice if the sellers would include the dimensions though.
I LOVE your videos!!!! And I am so thankful that Pollux was adopted by your family. What a great life he has, it's so gratifying to see all you do for him!!! Keep us posted on the tent situation upgrades etc. Also on your Weight Watchers journey! God Bless you and your family.......and I think he surely does. I'm happy for you all😊
Thanks so much Marcie!!!!! I actually filmed this video several days ago....and Pollux has enjoyed his tent every day since we made it. So sweet!! Go glad you are doing WW also.....I weighed in yesterday for the first time and I've lost 4 pounds!!!!! 🤪
With our big dogs we would cover their crate with quilts……they loved it. And …. When I was out looking for furniture they told me 6-7 months …. Hard to believe, but I guess it’s the norm for now. Loved the video.
Pollux looks so content in his cozy little corner. I love how he dragged in all his favorite stuff. I am very grateful to you and others who rescue dogs and give them a great life!
I’m glad Pollux got his own little makeshift tent because it’s his safe haven inside his own home and you’re right: you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make a homemade tent for your dogs. He sure seems happy and comfy in it!
I used a crate and put a blanket along the top and sides. When we were home, we'd leave the crate door open and one of our dogs often went into their crate just to get away from it all, mostly when we had visitors.
Pollux is what started me on your channel Renee. In my own family we have rescued five cats, two dogs, and a bearded dragon. The sign is up over the door we are closed for rescuing LOL.
You will love having leather sofas, sectional, so much easier with dogs. Pollux and Maxxie are so lucky to have each other and your family. Pollux is loving his tent!
I love that you, Randy, made the tent as you follow Pollux's feelings. Thank you, Randy. I think we all have times when we need to feel safe and secure.
Pollux is so sweet. Some dogs really like to have their own den. My current dog crawls under the rear of the car, at least he's not under the engine getting greasy. My previous dog made his own bed under the dining room table and spent a lot of time there. Everyone should have a dog as nice as yours. Hugs to Maxxie and Pollux from northern Ohio.
Our little Wire Fox Terrier liked to be in 'safe' areas. We had wire kennels for our dogs (for traveling), we kept one in the laundry room with the door off and a cover that I whipped together that covered all but the opening. He loved to be in there! You can buy dog kennels that are actually made as coffee tables, you could cover the sides and take the door off for him! glad that Randy is doing well after his proceedure!
Pollux had a terrible start to his life, no one can argue that. But, it brings my heart joy to see him showered in love as part of your family now. Such a sweet dog (Maxxie is a sweetie too!) in a loving, happy family. I hope when you look back through the years of your life you know in your heart that you changed the life of that precious dog. Imagine if he’d never known life outside the shelter? I can’t stand to think about it.
For Pollux, how about an end table/dog crate or end table/kitty litter hide-away? Also, when I was a kid I had a beautiful little black Schnauzer. Your Mooey is so cute. Can’t take m eyes off of him😍
I've never heard the word "drug" used as "dragged" by anyone else other than a boy I dated (almost 30 years ago) from Garrard Co., Kentucky. I giggled when I heard you say it just now. But sometimes I catch myself saying it and I always think of him 😊
We had a large rotttie and she would start to shiver and hide when we had thunder storms. Lady would crawl under covers anywhere in the house until it was quiet again. We lost her to cancer, buried her in our back yard, and miss her so much. Enjoy your Pollux for all the years to come.
I enjoy seeing you all treating your fur babies just like family because that’s what they are right? Love you all! Thank you for this sweet Pollux & his den video💟
Both of your dogs are so cute! Like the wooden feeding stations for their dog food and water bowls. Thank you for such a sweet video. They are truly lucky to have a loving home. If only all animals were so lucky.💙❤🐾
Love the tent that Randy built. Reminds me of the tents my sister and I would build in our bedroom when we were young. My two girls (dogs) both like to squeeze between the couch and the wall, even though it’s tight. Sometimes I will find toys back there too, like Pollux. They were both rescues, terrier & Chihuahua (possibly) mixes. One likes to crawl under everything EXCEPT beds. Maddie can be found under pillows, blankets, sheets, etc. even in the summer. All of my Chi mixes liked to bury. I think it is is a security thing. Renee, I enjoy all of your videos but the dog ones are the best! I volunteer for 2 animal shelters and rescues are my favorite. I can’t believe that Pollux was at the shelter for so long. He’s a beautiful boy and doesn’t seem to have a lot of emotional baggage as many shelter dogs do. It’s always a gamble (isn’t everything in life!) but it so rewarding. He was meant to be with you and your family and he has the best life now. Thank you for adopting and sharing him and Maxxi with us. Randy, you look great and I’m so happy that your surgery went well and all is good. Thank you for sharing your experience. Love you guys❤️❤️
Hi Renee, I decided to take a little time out here to Specifically Thank You for all you have done on your Channel to help us through this Pandemic in one piece. Covid surely gave us permission to slow down. But you and your family gave us Permission to Smile. I only began watching when you adopted Pollux. I said to myself … “This has to be a Great Story” I He waited 491 Days for You to come.Along . Believe me … the wait was worth it…. All the best to Randy moving forward. You have taught me something. Where I am.doesn’t have to be Where I Live….We’ll get through This Together…. Be Safe Everyone🌿☝️👍👏👏🐾
My rescue (he’s my avatar) also has lots of Husky in him and does the same thing when it storms-he hides in dark, tight spaces or under the guest bed. I’ve done the same thing for him with a makeshift blanket fort next to the sofa. He loves it. I also looked for dog tents and found they were too small or too big. There’s a place on Etsy called Tucson Teepee. I bought a teepee from them a few years ago as a fun adult space. They custom made it for me. It’s huge! But I’m guessing they could make a custom Pollux teepee for you. You could even pick the fabric!
I am so glad Pollux is doing great and he does not seem to be chewing everything anymore like he was before I am so happy he likes his home and his family
The tight spaces must remind Pollux of his past life which he made work. He wants some privacy after having so much freedom in your home, yard and travels. He loves you so much.
When one of our dogs was alive, we got a thunder shirt for him as he hated thunder storms too. It soothed him and really helped. So maybe if you got one for them it might help. It helped Ted a lot.
Can I just say...I love your videos! ❤️If I'm having a bad day at work, or just feeling out of sorts one day, and I come home and watch one of your videos, they always make me feel so happy! 😊 Thank you for sharing your adventures, and the absolute JOY of your two sweet, precious fur babies with all of us! 🐶
Renee you have done such a wonderful with you big furry friend Pollux. He looks so relaxed and in fine form. As, of course does Randy - so nice to see him looking just fine again. Lots of love to you all from Glasgow, Scotland. xx
Yea!! Another Pollux video!! I'm so happy to see my two favorite dogs. I love that Pollux is in his own fort! We used to make forts like that when I was a kid!! That is too darn adorable! I'm in Florida and it's pouring rain here. Every day for the past two weeks! I hope Randy is feeling better doing well!!
Pollux must be so proud of you & your husband! Not every puppy has such smart humans. I'm thinking he gave you guys an A+ for creativity!!! My dog heads for my closet when we have thunderstorms or when people set off firecrackers!! I'm planning on putting in another shelf to make more room for him in there! Just having trouble finding shelving that fits. Supplies are short everywhere & for almost everything!! Can't wait to see your new furniture!
Have a wonderful weekend. Hope you both enjoyed going out for dinner. Nice to see such happy dogs. It really helps me since my little Pekingese dog named Chip passed away July 5th. He was 15 1/2 years old and smart as a whip. But his time was up and we are two broken hearted dog parents. But happy to see how happy yours are in such a loving home. Love the fur baby videos.lol..❤️🇨🇦
Love the tent idea! My furbaby loves to take naps in his dog crate. We put his dog bed inside it and he has a blanket and toys to cuddle with too. We put a thin fleece blanket on top of the crate to cover it on all sides except for the entrance. We took the door off so he can come and go as he wishes. He loves to be in there when we're all in our living room hanging out. At night he sleeps in our bed with us. Another idea is to buy a "End Table Dog Crate" from Amazon or Wayfair. They can get pricey, especially for the large size, but it does look a lot nicer in a living room.
I love the thumbnail you chose for this video. Pollux has the biggest smile on his face. What a lovely boy. Anyhow - I wanted to comment on this topic. We had jack russells and they loved their hootchies. They had a variety of different little houses and they loved them all. If I can find the names of the houses - I'll pass it on. Pollux is a bit bigger, but I believe the houses came in bigger sizes. The one they used the most were made of heavy cloth, with a zipper opening/closure in front and in back. At first we kept the front opening rolled up and velcro'ed out of the way because they were constantly in and out. But later, we took a pair of scissors and cut the door off permanently. Those houses became their private little space, and like Pollux, they took their toys in there, they played in there, and they slept in there. Their muffin beds fit inside perfectly. They also had a soft igloo type hootchie I found on-line. This lady made these beautiful igloos, and those we didn't put their muffin beds in there, but we did put a soft bed in there. They absolutely loved them. Like I said, if I can find the manufacturer of the first one, I'll pass it along. In the meantime, I hope you find just the right hootchie for Pollux.
You encouraged me and my granddaughter to join WW my granddaughter on blue plan and I am on green plan. Love this video of Pollux. Dogs love to sleep in a den. My two schnauzer love their crates. They are opened everyday all the time and they go in there when they want and my older one loves it. My 10 month old likes it but he mostly likes his bed. It’s always amazing to me how different dogs are. I love them all
I've never put Pollux in a crate simply because he spent so much time in the shelter. My fear is that it would bring back bad memories. But he does like tight small spaces where he can see out ❤️
It's so wonderful of you to give Pollux his own tent !!!! He definitely loves it!!! He looks so cute in there with all his babies !!! Enjoy it Pollux......you deserve it !!!!
Aww Pollux is so sweet, Winston ( 35 kg English bull terrier) had a sing along with maxi at the beginning of the video 😆 Winston still uses the creat he had from a puppy we keep the door always open , when Winston had enough of us he takes him self of to the crate and shut the door! No human allowed. Randy looks well.
I had the same situation. I bought a tent and he did not like it. Then I bought Love's cabin 36in Portable Large Dog Bed - Pop Up Dog Kennel, Indoor Outdoor Crate for Pets, Portable Car Seat Kennel, Cat Bed Collection, Grey/Green/Red from Amazon and put his pillow bed in there and he loves it!
you could use a dog Crate put a blanket over it and take the door off or tie it open :) but the box idea would also work well, you could pretty it up with wall paper or some other sort of covering :)
You could use garden stakes (the bamboo kind that are sticks) put a bunch together like a tee-pee and wire tie the top. Then wrap a sheet around it, gather up the sheet for a door and Pollux has tent!
Love leather! Can’t wait to see it. My Standard Schnauzer loves to den. He will curl up in tiny little spaces that you don’t think he can possibly fit into. So glad Pollux got his new digs.
The blanket fort will do for now. But once our new couch gets here and I start to redecorate the living room....I think I want something a little better looking :)
@@WelcomeToMyCurls you could use something like a card table and put a blanket or maybe a pretty table cloth over it, or you could get one of those big plastic storage bins and cit a door in the side with a jigsaw. It is very clear, Pollux likes a cave area.
Good morning!! Great idea making a tent...plus easily washed! Glad y’all weathered the storm and Randy is on the mend! Y’all need some serious beach time!!! Have a great weekend !😊
It’s funny that Pollux just started that. I know most dogs hate the rain and thunder. But he’s doing it all the time now. Oh well, we can’t figure them out. As for Maxi turning his head when your talking to him, my little dog does the same thing. It’s like they are ignoring you. They are funny guys.
If you watch videos of Greyhounds--they bring their toys with them everywhere and they love to re-arrange a bed to their liking. I think Pollux must have some greyhound in him--he certainly has some of the characteristics...even his ears.
***I joined WW and am doing it with you - y'all!! Thanks for the inspiration Renee*** I used to sell custom furniture. It usually took 3 months, sometimes longer. As I used to tell clients: It's worth the wait - AND you get other things done during that time (cleaning, paint, carpet, new accessories, etc etc). I use a large dog crate for my Golden and he loves it. It's in a corner, with a nice blanket over the sides and top. I leave the door open, so he is free to come and go. He, too, is afraid of storms. His bed fits inside along with toys. This is his den.
Just buy a crate. You can buy a cover to go over the top and 2-3 sides (they roll up and have ties) or just use a sheet. The door doesn't have to be attached either. I have a raised Kuranda bed that goes into the crate with her foam bed on top so she doesn't have to lie on the hard surface of the crate floor. Some people just have their dogs lie on the Kuranda bed without a cushy bed on top but mine loves the softness. Dogs love having that safe little cubby of their own.
He really is! He's so gently and always happy ❤️ I bought him a new peanut butter filled bone yesterday...and he licked on it all day long. The simple things make his tail wag!
you could also make one use PVC pipes and cutting them to whatever height/width you want and putting them together with PVC connectors that just fit right in to one another. then put whatever material you want on it. You could even cut out holes in the material to slide over the PVC pipe to hold in in place. That way you could change out the material during hotter and colder weather. Just an idea. I did that for agility training and it works great. Lightweight and cost effective!
I love the homemade tent, but I have seen end tables that are specially designed for pets to sleep under. Maybe you could design your own, like a rectangular box style.
It's raining. It's pouring. And Randy made Pollux a tent! Do you think it's the Huskey in Pollux that makes him love being inside small spaces?
I think it's the den environment of their ancestors, huddling together for safety, warmth and protection from the elements. Plus, everybody likes to have a private space that's only theirs, like guys with their man caves. Come to think of it, some of the men I met during my dating years definitely shared some traits with wolves and cavemen.
It’s a Pup tent 😁👏🏻♥️🐾🐕
@@snavillus314 .....excellent !!! 👍
Looks like my son and his friends' favorite things to do at sleepovers in the family room, back in the day!
I think it has a lot to do with growing up in the shelter. There's a deep need in Pollux for a sense of security a den provides him.
Pollux sure did luck out when you two adopted him! He's in such a wonderful home and is so loved now. He got exactly what he deserved (all dogs deserve a wonderful home and to be loved).
So true.
That was so intuitive of you to make Pollux a tent! He told you what he needed and you made it happen! I love when dog parents spoil and accommodate their pups!
It’s a Pup Tent! 😂🙃. Glad Randy is doing well 😇
I am so glad Pollux found your family. He has a beautiful life now. The best mom and dad ever.
That’s so sweet that Pollux loves his homemade tent. They are just like children. You are THE BEST Momma!
Awww thank you 💗

That's so good Renee!! Just 16 to go😊
There is a SPECIAL place in HEAVEN for people like these kind folks that rescue ANY animal in need.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!
Maxxie's lovely little face is a joy to see, and Pollux is just adorable.
With our big dogs we would cover their crate with quilts……they loved it.

your thorough enjoyment of those 2 is very entertaining ! ❤❤
You can get pvc pipes, cut to length and connect with Ts to create a rectangle and then cover it with the brown blanket. Cheap and simple.
Your living room looks JUST FINE the way it is!!!! You folks are simply AWESOME for all you have done for this puppy!!!!!!!
You're the ABSOLUTE BEST Dog parents in the world and Pollux is a very HAPPY boy!!
awww thank you Keely! 💗
I love that you, Randy, made the tent as you follow Pollux's feelings. Thank you, Randy. I think we all have times when we need to feel safe and secure.
You are so kind Renee. What a transition with your sweet pollux. He is a very lucky boy to have you. Both pups are so sweet.

leather is the best thing when you own dogs. My leather sectional was custom made with very firm cushions. The dog loves it too.

I love them all
Oh yay to WW! I had my first official weigh-in yesterday.....I lost 4 pounds!!!!! 😁
@@WelcomeToMyCurls awesome. I am doing virtual 360. No meetings where I live.
Its a good tent 4 him, he probably likes it better than a bought 1 Glad 2 see Randy taking it easy God is wilh u & your family 😇😇😇😇😇
Some dogs liked to be crated some don't. Our granddog loved his crate with a blanket over the top and sides, all cozy.
Our rescue pup loves to bed down under kitchen table that has a tablecloth that drapes about 6 inches down. Nice cave.
I was going to suggest that! A crate would be a great solution!
You could use garden stakes (the bamboo kind that are sticks) put a bunch together like a tee-pee and wire tie the top. Then wrap a sheet around it, gather up the sheet for a door and Pollux has tent!
He is so sweet.
I love your videos. They’re so sweet and calming. And some are very informative! I’ve gotten some good tips!
Sweet dog 🐕
Love leather! Can’t wait to see it.
My Standard Schnauzer loves to den. He will curl up in tiny little spaces that you don’t think he can possibly fit into. So glad Pollux got his new digs.
Pollux and mooie are so adorable. So innovative to make a tent with what you have on hand. My kids always lovedi improvised tents on rainy days
Just what I have been waiting for, a Pollux and Maxxie video. I was going to suggest a cardboard box, but the blanket fort works.
Oh girl......you know it!!! We're headed to the beach in October and of course the doggies are going with us. Can't wait!!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls Excellent!!!!
Maxxie and Pollux both turn their heads when I have the camera on them. It's like they know I'm filming and they refuse to look at it. Geez...... 🤨
Love your dogs. So happy everything is working out🙃😀
New subbie, love Pollux and his adoption story. Maxie and Pollux have the very best family. I'm new to your channel. Watching to catch up.
If you watch videos of Greyhounds--they bring their toys with them everywhere and they love to re-arrange a bed to their liking. I think Pollux must have some greyhound in him--he certainly has some of the characteristics...even his ears.
Pollux definitely has a greyhound nose! Adorable!
This is the sweetest thing ever!!!!!🤗
Made my day💖
I can't wait to see your new sectional! I'm thinking about getting a leather one, too. I hear they are best for pets!
Pollux🤗🙊
Oh !!!!! He is too 🥰
***I joined WW and am doing it with you - y'all!! Thanks for the inspiration Renee***
I used to sell custom furniture.
Thank you and bless your entire family. Glad to see dad relaxing. Ain't it great?
I love the tent idea.
Surely CBD could help with Max's barking, Pollux really loves his mum, brilliant.
Pollux is such a sweet dog! Good video!
Good idea!!!!
I love sectionals! I have one myself. They seem to add a bit of drama, and I can't wait for you to get yours so we all can enjoy it too.
I love the homemade tent, but I have seen end tables that are specially designed for pets to sleep under. Maybe you could design your own, like a rectangular box style.
Ciao bella signora sei meravigliosa carina 🌹 EMI piaci tanto 💋💋💋🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️
