The levitating light bulb works in the same way as wireless charging for your phone. The copper coil in the base creates an electromagnetic field that the smaller coil in the bulb conducts, which generates electricity to power the small LED in the bulb. They chose LEDs for their low power consumption, being that the coil won't produce enough current to power a real incandescent light bulb. Pretty clever if you ask me!
Pichu500 I'm sure most popular RUclipsrs do not reply twice, as seen with other comments, they only reply once to the original one. Also, it's not my fault the guy asked such a horrid question. They can cut anything.
There was a coil inside of it and when you run current throw it , it make a electromagnet , a electromagnet and the magnetic field of this electromgnet carries current which transfers to the bulb throw electro magnetic induction and because the current is AC the current is alternating so its able to transfer current but if that was DC it will not light up and the coil inside the bulb also says that there should a primary/sedondry coil inside it simple.
Yep. It an air core transformer. Just like your wireless chargers. Looking at the dimensions and the air gap, I can say that this thing is not at all efficient.
Grammar Nazi-Hitler No! What parents would let an 8 year old on RUclips? I'm just considering the fact that this channel is kid-friendly. I know I can't stop it but at least giving it a try.
I was so excited when Iceland was mentioned. The story of the Icelandic settlers and the conversation about going to Iceland made me feel very emotional.
The copper coil you saw in the base is an electro magnet that oscillates at a very high frequency and the coil you saw in the base of the bulb is a magnetically coupled to the primary coil just like the transformer used in your foreign voltage adapter, it just resonates so high it does it through the air.
Hi linken and dan, I thought I would tell you a cool fact. When people discovered Iceland they didn't want people to come, so they called it Iceland because they hoped it would not attract people. And when people discovered Greenland, it was cold and foggy but they WANTED people to come to there country so they called it Greenland. Isn't that weird? 😊😄
I heard that before as well but I think you said it weird or maybe I read it weird lol....They named it Greenland because it was so I icy that people would be like if they call this Greenland then dam I don't wanna see Iceland it mutch be so much worse! no way I'm gonna check out Iceland I'd Greenland is thus cold and icy! lol somthing like that
I think the way the light bulb works is that there is a magnet and a coil. The magnetic field oscillates back and forth to generate voltage. The coil gets that voltage, stores it in capacitors, and so the capacitor releases energy to the lightbulb and makes it turn on. That's as short of an explanation as me, a kid and electrical engineer, can make.
It is 9th grade science indeed. Not in USA may be. in fact I studied it in 8th grade as I was one grade ahead of other students. see for yourself. this is 9th grade science book demostration video. www.google.com/#q=tamilnadu+class+9+science+induction+coil
True. I learned it in 8th grade (I was ahead of others by one grade) but i was in a small village. Boys in big cites were ahead of me by 1 or 2 years.yes. it is 6 or 7th grade physics. Unfortunately in USA now a days they don't teach real basic science in classroom. Instead they teach pseudo science / agenda based science like global warming and environmental science.
It works primarily through induction coils repelling the magnets and magnets pulling each other together on both ends. The magnets are only floating at the end because the apparatus is still plugged in. Unplug it and the magnets will snapp back onto the base coils. This has to mathematically calculated to create equilibrium between the coils and magnets. It's generally the same when you plug in a charger for a phone. There's little transformers in the wall blocks you plug into the wall that step down the 110 volts down to like 6 or whatever it is. Or else you'd fry your phone. Same way transformers work on poles outside as well. Very high voltages stepped down through induction coils to reduce voltage to your house so you don't fry every apparatus in your house. All induction coils produce electromagnetic fields as well. This light fixture is finally a way to harness that phenomenon in action.
omg did you even watch the video? he went there because LG invited them to go there, they payed for his hotel, car rent, etc.. youtube did a similar thing to pewdiepie and other youtubers for the release of youtube red i think
So how he levitating light works is by having those magnets spin and it sends a small electric current though the air and why it didn't shock Dan is because the amps or the volts are so small he didn't feel anything and the copper wires were to increase those so that the light would turn on. There you go Lincoln " It's complicated science"
the magnetic field of the magnet induct a current in the light coil wich power the light and the coil wich has a inducted electric curent build a magnetic field from this current wich make it fly. the whole magnetic field to current to magnetic field is know as the lorents force and it's why this things can levitate without permanent magnet
It's powered by induction. Same thing that let's you cook on induction stoves. One electromagnetic field "touches" the other and gives it the same properties. So if the first field can power a lightbulb, the upper one can do the same. You've got a power cord connected to it so I guess you can imagine how the rest works ;) Perma magnet is there only to repel the lightbulb from the bottom coil and it's field. This is just a very brief and simplified explanation. "Nikola Tesla" and "Wardenclyffe Tower" is what you want to google to know more.
its actually really easy to make there is a CMOS which switches the Eletro Magnet on and off rapidly and then they used induction to make the led glow really dimly and the 555 in replacement of a micro controller can do the same thing but with more capacitors
I would assume that the four big inner coils are used to create magnetic field keeping the lamp in the air. Possibly their power is regulated by some microcontroller to keep the magnet stable. The outer coil is used to provide power to the lamp. Along with the coil inside the lamp it creates a transformer. It's magnetic field does not affect the levitation, because it's created by alternating current of relatively high frequency (and polarization is constantly changing). Inside the lamp there is just a Graetz bridge and a capacitor to convert the signal to DC and a resistor to limit the current. Simple, yet clever piece of engineering. A little bit overpriced, but hey, it's a luxury good.
