    Really well articulated and put together video. We regret missing the event for the night sessions ourselves, but it looks as though the day sessions yielded rewarding results for you!

    Zygrene just came across your channel. Something I been thinking of is a head to head track comparison of stock vs stock 2022 GR86/ BRZ and E36 M3 would probably be closely matched. If that is even possible to find that match up I would really like to see that. I'm liking your track test videos.

    I'd put a little less aggression into the steering input on corner entry. That should stabilize the rear a bit.

      @@patrickbateman7122 Are you driving it at/beyond the limit? Also, depending on car setup, sometimes aggressive turn in is needed get the car to yaw well.

    If you are happy with the stock suspension for road/track some pedders camber/caster strut mounts add another 0.75° camber or so up front.

    Nice setup. I am actually thinking of running 224/45/17 on the street with touring tires. Touring tires and more sidewall nicer ride.
    Keep the OEM wheels for the track.

    Quite a few tracks out west seem to have acres of runoff. The car just gets dusty and that’s the extent of an off. I’m sure that helps ease your mind as you push the limit further

      Absolutely. I'm able to push harder at Thunderhill than I can at Laguna or Sonoma. Walls are scary.

    I have heard some ZD8 having a issue with the sealant breaking down and block the engine oil pipe. Just wondering do you know this problem and what can we do to it? Thanks

    another simple mod is a K$N air filter "Part #33-5060" its $60 made for the 22 Brz/gr but you mighr already have another air filter. But awesome video! I'm also probably buying the touring exhaust soon :D.

      What benefits do the K&N filter provide?

      @@Zygrene the box states 50% more airflow, horse power increase, and is a wet type filter. Can be cleaned and reused. I’m guessing they state increase in horse power due to increased airflow which is possible. However it’s just a drop in filter. I’m sure there may be better ones out there. But I have one in my car, can’t really tell the difference I drive casually. Maybe if used in a track setting the filter may provide some difference but not a lot. 😆

      Removing the charcoal filter on the OEM filter will give the same horsepower gains as the k and n filter will

    I would have a problem with that infotainment screen burning an imprint on my eyes that I would see every time I blink. Can it be turned off? I'd have to throw a towel over it or something.

    great run you beat my PB on this track with my 2018 wrx that had 380whp and 355wtq by a few seconds which goes to show that seat time is key and not HP. Granted that PB is from only my second visit to this track ever. I predict I will be able to out do my WRX with my GR once i get a handle on the handling and how to manage rwd characteristics. I also have a CF oil cooler and it did great at sonoma so I predict it will also do good in Thill.

      A GR86/BRZ is also able to carry wayyy more speed through corners than the much heavier WRX.

    How thick are those pads???
    They seem thin, Like 10-15mm
    Does that caliper accomodate a 25mm pad???

    and in the tests, the Japanese confirmed that the Subaru is faster, but it has an aluminum roof, steering knuckles, stronger rivets, etc. and is 10 kg lighter

    Night!? Stunned they let regular track day guys out at night, we ran the 25hr years back and had a major incident, air lift etc. Miata ran out of gas, couldn’t pull off completely, corner workers didn’t see him… got nailed from behind by a diesel Mazda 6. Not good. We invented Flagger In-Car Alert because of it. With age comes a cage boys.

    Very nice! Which pads and fluid are you using? I'm experiencing break fade with my GR. I track it at limerock. Maybe I'm overdriving it.

      Raybestos ST45 front, Powerstop Track Day Spec rear, Motul RBF660 fluid. I'll be upgrading to Castrol SRF soon.

      I’ve heard from a few sources the brake pads need replacement as they overheat a little too easily. Take it with a grain of salt as I don’t own one and only got my source from comments on other yt vids

      @@NyrixDerg Granted it was super hot that day, 92degrees. They faded and needed a few cooldown runs. The fluid looks good so I don't think it boiled too bad.

      Look up track day organizations in your area. $2k per session is outrageous. Most track days cost between $150 and $400.

      @@Zygrene Yea I need to look more into it, but so far all i've found are these track days at the major tracks and they seem always cost in the thousands. I don't know if it's because those include a few hours of coaching as well? Still not really sure of the ins and outs of it. How does it normally work? Can you just bring your car as it sits and just have fun on the track? How does insurance work?

      I’d also recommend Pedders strut mounts. I have the camber bolts, strut mounts, RLCA on stock suspension and I’m at -3/2-.5

    I know the 200 TW easily takes off a few sec off the lap times. Why did you choose the Kumos? I noticed you have the same tire size I'm currently running (for my dailies). Do you feel it's too much sidewall? Would lower profile tires offer better response?

      Chose the V730 because I got them used at a good price. They have very stiff sidewalls and they're loud so not the best for daily driving. Champiro SX2 in 225/45/17 are super comfy and quiet.

    95db limit.... :/ I couldn't do that. My GT3 has very little done to exhaust and is at 101db.

    Do you have any thoughts on how to improve steering feel? Coming from a Type R, the steering in ny GR86 feels completely numb. I can't feel the wheel load up during cornering the way I'm used to. Is there anything that can be done to make this better, or is it just one of those things that is what it is?

      More caster may help. Not sure why but the 2nd gen has worse steering feel than the 1st gen.

      @zygrene I know for camber you can add camber bolts, but how is caster adjusted? Besides potentially helping with steering feel, could adding caster have any unwanted side effects on handling as well?

    My brz is bone stock now, it’s feel a little hard on corner entry, but gr86 feel the way better, how to get the same entry feeling like gr86, but not lose too much rear stable?

      Camber bolts did the trick for me. Front end feels much better than stock now with -2.6° camber

    You must have previously autocrossed a bunch... your steering inputs are super erratic. It looks like you are fighting the car and trying to rally race on some dirt...Watch some in-car POV videos of a professional race track driver. Steering is always controlled and smooth, like driving miss daisy, only at 100+ mph. Also you need Motul RBF 600 to get rid of brake fade.

    Are you running dedicated track and street pads? If so, how long does it take you to change them before every track day?
    Also, how is the car on the street with the current mods?

      Confession - I've been too lazy to swap the track pads out between track days. Outside of the stiff/loud tires and squeaky brakes, the car is perfectly streetable. That's the nice thing about stock suspension with camber mods!

      That's good to hear actually. I don't drive mine around that much, so I would be willing to live with noisy brakes, as long as they're safe for an emergency stop on the highway.

    Theres something eitjer wrong with your driving style and or the car it self. You should be sawing at the wheel so much, whether its because of your throttle application or the car setup. You should work on why you are overcorrecting so much in some of the corners.
