ROTFL - I drive roads like that everyday in a 35 y/o Grumman 2 WD postal vehicle. Not even close to being off road.
It really is a fabulous car. The twin sequential turbos plus the torque of the diesel really make it surprisingly fun for a heavy vehicle. And fuel economy so far as been far better than listed. More like 40+ mpg, not 33.
I agree. Even with snow tires and very cold weather, fuel economy remains stupefyingly high. Truly amazing. Its off-road ability is irrelevant to me, but its snow performance really matters, and in this, it really shines. Having owned several other 4/awd vehicles, I truly believe 4Matic is the best of the best for harsh winter conditions.

Yea I wish they sold the off-road package here too. I think it's a pretty capable car beyond the pavement. I've taken it to many places on non paved roads like Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Oceano Dunes Beach to name a few (sand, rocky roads, mud, ice). Learned my lesson in Death Valley going 19 miles off road with close to bare tires (never again) but it was fine the rest of the time. I'll probably buy smaller wheels with wider aspect ratio tires and carry a full size spare for more off road trips to come. Now climbing rocks will be something I definitely won't do because of the way the AWD is set up.
Why not climb rocks?

you call that off road that is just a small dirt trail man I can find that at a park go on real off-road
