Aslo they hold record for the most manufactured jet fighter (MiG-15) and most manufactured super sonic jet fighter (MiG-21) but the best thing about MiGs is that, all aircrafts were able to destroy western aircrafts and remain cheap to operate. They where great aircrafts and stil they are.

Mig 21 was so well built that it was able to take down an F-16 as well(The Mig-21 was upgraded and was in hands of a really skilled pilot). Migs, especially during Cold War and USSR era were really well built aircraft. Wish they started making aircrafts of similar potential as well

@@shukes4645 yeah the aircraft needs to be really well built to be able to fly for like 50-60+ years before facing such failures caused a lot of the times by lack of spares available for such an old aircraft. And the thing is, Mig 21 isn't even the same generation as that of F-16(most Mig-21s didn't even have fly-by wire systems unlike the modern f-16s) but those aging Migs still managed to take down an aircraft of a more advanced generation is a feat in itself especially for an aircraft that is 2.5-3 generation unlike the f-16 that is a purely 4-4.5 generation aircraft

The f4 is actually closer to 2nd gen lol and is a very early 3rd gen, probably one of the first.
Have you seen these big ass interceptors that Tupolev build before ICBMs became popular? They were absolutely massive and had an incredibly high service ceiling, could also maintain supersonic speeds without afterburner. Really cool looking planes.
It's kinda saddening to see how Mikoyan was seen as a failure or a bad plane manufacturer now despite Mikoyan in the past dominated the whole skies until Sukhoi showed up. But yea people will say it's not manufacturers themselves but how the USSR superior viewed the proposal and thus that's why how Mikoyan and Sukhoi are rival in the past, although right now it seems like Sukhoi won the rivalry.

No one wants the the MiG-35 despite the trade offs (as compared to the MiG-29M being the MiG everyone buy instead) being good. The MiG-35 is only about 10 million USD more and gives you better capabilities. I hope this is just one of the many lows of the Mikoyan and Gurevich Company.

Russia/USSR weapon are definition of "you pay what you get" They're dirt cheap and easy to modified or upgraded even by customer nation, they're maybe not the most advanced but the important thing is it's do the job
