Hey Smoaks are the R18s sold out or does one go to the local dealer and put a down payment to reserve one?
Rodney Pickett - I’m not sure they’re actually for sale just yet..? We were told that our unit had to be a demo for a given amount of time. I heard that the customer units for sale will be coming later, but I’m hearing that some dealers are getting multiple units... I’ll do my best to get some facts about all this and let you all know asap!

It would look cool, yes definitely, but have you ever ridden with a sidecar? It’s not a lot of fun, and steering a bike as opposed to leaning... not for me. I’m glad I tried it though.
This machine will love by.. People who are fascinated by Two wheels n its Balancing, Seems like Collectible.
It has presence for sure. Even from my laptop it appears to ooozz quality. I think the oddness of them cylinders and the flat, fish like pipes balance each other out nicely. Thanks guys.

That engine is a work of art!
They must have listened. The very first one had the cheapest fenders almost nonexistent. This one looks great, except for the size of that motor, it needs a bigger fuel tank to be able to handle all those extra ccs.
Actually have one of these bikes in Vancouver great! You performed the 12k service on my 2019 RT 1250 several weeks ago. Am very impressed by the quality job performed on my RT. It’s great having a convenient and local location to bring my bike to. Thanks again!

I never have owned a BMW, and I really like that bike. I went to the BMW website and they actually have a sound bite for the R18. That is cool. Thanks for sharing the R18 with us.

I test road one a few weeks ago. Fun big bike - im not really a cruiser guy but those big engines they produce are excellent, love the inline 6 cylinder k1600 engine too

Just so you know, Lot of towns on Highway 20 are gone.. The town of Detroit and all around the area are burned up.. Just drove through Sandy Last night, and there are People bailing out of many towns south of there.. It's never been this bad in my 64 years in Oregon..
These BMW are pretty cool. Reminds me of a Older R-69S with a 1000 cc that I had a hand in building in the late 1970/1980.. It use to show up out at PIR back in the day ,and it would draw a crowd. That was put together By Art from Zap Motors.. Air Head guy and older guys will Know who he is, and the BMW's he built..

I wonder if they are going to make like a full bagger version of that bike. Seems to be set up that you could add fairing and hard bags, it would be interesting. It looks like a work of art, like the new rocket 3 GT.
After not riding for over 30yrs I'm going back to riding because of this bike. Im heading back to training, get a starter bike for about a year then get this r18 by July 21.
They should do a 1200cc Lighter Model with smaller cylinder heads. Not everyone cares about 1800 cc. Like the Sportster model so buyers can Customize and make their own.

Wow, just wow. What a cool bike Shawn. I love your Slim, but with a 25 inch inseam, forward controls do me absolutely no good. This R18 and the Harley Street Bob look doable for me down the road. Hi Rob my wife Lynne really struggles to get bikes small enough to carry both of us and luggage we have a BMW F800GT with low seat and are lucky enough to have a spyder f3 limited which we love its just a shame more manufacturers don't consider smaller people we enjoy your comments 👍

Yes, I've considered a BMW GS 750 LC one day myself, unfortunately here in Kansas I would have a couple of hours or so to get to a dealer to even see if one would work for me. Cool bike and great video Mr Smoak ! The front forks have a similar look of the 2018 and up Slim and seat looks very similar to the Breakout including the chrome badge in it. It is a fine looking bike and I like these style of bikes and Im sure it is a quality coming from BMW.. I have a 2019 Slim that I think is coolest bike ever. Thats how I found your channel by searching for 2018 and up Slim.Keep up the great videos and stay safe.

I’m upgrading to this bike , coming from a v star 950.
I like it! Currently riding a R1250RT and would like this for a second bike. I don't care for the stock exhaust, but they have some nice slip-ons in the configuration on the BMW site.
BOSS! The rock and roll modes are wicked cool. This is the only air cooled motorcycle I would own

The sound of that R18 reminded me of the old model that I rode on as a kid some 40 years ago on the side car... It had that big old key and a red and green light right behind it towards the seat... Fun times good times. Nice video once again...

Thats not the first complaint about fingerprints all over the bike that i've heard already. my local dealership's bike was covered in fingerprints, and they spent wayyyy too long having to clean it.

I rented a BMW to ride around Cali years ago. The oil lamp came on, so I went to a gas station for a quart. That's when I discovered that nutty oil cap. I had no tool, but I did have a pen and my wife's shoe. Stuck the pen in one of the corners and beat it with the shoe to get it to spin. It worked in a pinch.
If I ever bought one, I'd get a standard twist off cap for it right away.
I keep mine with the bike.
@@nokoolaid This bike has no bags, but yeah, if I remembered I had it, it'd be good. Problem is, I often surprise myself when I open my bikes' bags as I never remember what I put in there.

Great video/insight...as always. I own 3 boxers (have owed many others). Different eras. Love em. Don’t get this tho. “Shake mode”? Just get a Harley or pretty much any Guzzi. Shake comes stock. No modes.

She actually loves it..! She brought it up enough times, I had her sit on it today. She couldn’t lift it off the side stand, so game over for her ridding it, she says... Lol. But she really loves it’s look! Says it reminds her of a cool old fighter plane. I’ve had several people mention that when studying it, and I’m oddly seeing that myself. Strange to think of that when looking at a bike... Lol

This is indeed a beautiful bike but IMO has a huge flaw for a cruiser. How will you put forward controls on it? Impossible.
On first look, it was hard to get past those cylinders bulging out like that, but the more I looked, the more it grew on me. It's got an instant "Classic" "Retro" kind of look to it that I really dig. And I as well like the mechanical sound of it; like a fine Swiss watch keeping time. And those wicked cool exhaust pipes! Yes Sir, if I had the money! Y'all stay safe, and I hope your AC gets fixed soon! Peace and love.

The tank doesn’t look quite right imo, like it’s a hair small and sits too high over the engine. Still an interesting looking machine though.
Where will you ride with a 1800cc with only a 16 litres fuel tank?
thats 4.2 gallons. More than enough for 150 miles at least. I have a 1731cc Victory, I should know.
@@Boobtube. For remote areas you will need to be looking for a Fuel station and wish you can find one open, except if you want that big bike only for the show outside a Cafee, I know for sure I could not ride to my Farm and return, might have to transport some fuel with me if I will buy this beauty

That was the idea behind the design. Not enough wide straight roads in my land, you can't corner or 'canyon carve', and there is no protection if you/it drops.

Oddly not at all..? But that was a quick spin... I did a couple of those type rides on another bike, only to find it’s a whole different story in real-life riding situations..! When I have the chance to take this home for a weekend, I’ll be able to actually review that kinda stuff and let you guys know. I’m a little suspicious that I was so cool and comfortable with those big ‘ol jugs hanging out there! Lol
