Political commentator, physician, and member of Chess Journalists of America-Krauthammer's biography begins to suggest the range of the three decades of writing represented in this collection. Opening with an essay in which he discusses the events that have shaped his life and philosophy, Krauthammer then weighs in on topics including embryo research, drone warfare, and entitlement reform.

Just bought the paperback edition. Looking forward to reading this epic book from one of the BEST original thinkers of our time. Blessed with keen insight and academic finesse, Charles places his world view in the only logical place to go - conservativism.

    > (5:02) 3 distinct decades
    :
80s: Reagen Revolution, Culmination of the Cold War
    90s: Holiday from History
    (a kind of golden age)
2000s: The Age of Holy Terror
(current) 2008-?: Barrack Obama, Rise of Liberalism
    > (9:04) Historically golden ages are short
    > (15:03) On "you didn't build that", it is true that no person is an island. However, the type of collectivity that matters is not from the state but from civil society. ex: family, neighborhood, church, PTA, book store.
(16:14) It's the voluntary associations talked about by Tocqueville that is the genius of America and the source of its energy and liberty.

Above from a question late in Q&A captures Charles well. One of the most insightful political commentators I know, and maintains civility despite some with whom he interfaces.

To Crimsonphilosophy (below)... he didn't sidestep her question about race at all. He answered honestly that he didn't think it was a factor and gave clear, fact based examples as to why. We forget that Whitey Clinton was personally attacked for Lewinsky, etc far worse than Obama has been on real, substantive issues. Being concerned about $7 trillion in additional debt is not racist. It's a natural, angry reaction to irresponsibility.
What Krauthammer should have done is turned the question around on her and asked her to provide examples of overt racism at Tea Party events. To that point, I remember MSNBC tried to prove there were gun toting racists at a Tea Party demonstration by focusing in on the replica of a semi automatic gun that a man was carrying. Unfortunately for them, a citizen had also videoed the gun, and when the vid was panned out it showed the man was black. They were caught with their pants down, which meant they really couldn't find anyone who fit their ideological stereotype so they had to manufacture an image - ironically, using a person the racism was supposed to be directed against. Can't help but laugh at these buffoons.

He wanted to get politics RIGHT (tilted to the right), that is why he entered political discussion to turn liberal politics to trickle down politics in Reagan era. He avoids completely the structural issue of the corporate masters buying/hijacking government to shift over 90% of corporate taxes to individuals, then destroying all resistance to corporations (from labor or anyone else). He is blind to the abuse of power by corporate masters to siphon wealth to themselves at the expense of the 99%. As a result, a few have gotten richer beyond their wildest dreams while the majority have gotten poorer.
He is blinded also to the fact that capitalism has been hijacked as well by oligarchs. Instead of the market determining production/distribution/consumption, now the government determines most of corporate outcomes as corporate masters want them. We have neither true capitalism nor a democracy of one person one vote (as voters are being purged, bought or gerrymandered)....

Mr. Graham, could you please tell me the author's name that Mr. K. said he liked. It began with a "P". I thought I had it but did not; the sound was very bad on my PC all speakers at 100%. I know this was awhile ago but this video is new to me. Loved hearing him and thank you for doing this film.

By criticizing an author of merit and education is not only an absurdity and also disallows for a person to make an argumentative case. For arguments are where a person uses facts and or statements that can justify their position. When a person uses Ad Hominem as you have done creates a problem of false syllogism.

when i was 16 i was living with my brother and his wife, shortly after my brother went to work one morning shortly after 4am my sister came running through the house saying there was a fire,i slept on a hideabed couch in the living room,i told her to get out and ill get the kids,my nephew and niece ,he was about 4 and she was1,i had to wrap myself in a blanket and jump through flames to get to their room because of the narrow hallway and the fire was spreading fast,i had to make 2 trips,,i was in my pajamas and also had no shoes,my brother and his wife and family lost everything, but everyone was safe, the fire dept said because it was a trailer house and the furnace which caught fire wich was just on the other side of tha wall as the crib my niece was in and the same room as her brother would and did go uo in flames only a few minutes after i got the kids out,i saved them, i saved their lives ,im 44 now, those kids are all grown up and dont even remember,my brothers passed away and his wife is happily remarried, that was a long time ago,and it was important just like the story mr krauthammer wrote ,probably more important,so why the f' is this guy still relevant.end of story!!!!!!

I like him, but I felt he side stepped that woman's question about the Tea Party and race.

    • @cutazabutton
      @cutazabutton 6 лет назад +4

No, it was a ridiculous question. The Tea Party had nothing to do about race. It was about fiscal responsibility. If he had time he could have said the MSM and the Left would like you to believe it is about race so that the Tea Party will be destroyed.
