    Young ladies need to know their worth. All women need to know their worth. I finally realized mine when I was about 35 when it came to relationships. Single mom of one financially stable completed baby steps 1-4.
    Married at 38 now we are in steps 5 6 & 7. Be strong be courageous ladies. God had a plan for all of us.

    Highly irresponsible to advise the first caller to have the boyfriend quit EMT school when he's almost finished and about to have a pretty good and steady income. Also irresponsible to recommend she get a "hoopty ride" when it comes to the safety of a baby. She needs a reliable car that won't fall apart every 6 months. And finally, irresponsible to recommend marriage not knowing what their relationship is like. A baby and a marriage certificate does not necessarily mean a healthy relationship/family. Not to mention, they're already financially strapped, how do you expect them to pay for a wedding on top everything they're struggling with?
    **Assuming they are in a healthy relationship and mentally and emotionally committed to each other, they should focus on finishing EMT school and getting stable income. Sell the car and go for a safe and reliable used car. Pay it off ASAP while also setting aside as much as they can for savings. When they have enough saved for their wedding, they should get married if they want. Not everyone needs marriage to be committed to each other.

      @J D My older son and his fiancee went to the courthouse got the paperwork and then said their vows in the mountains. All it cost was the price of the paperwork. My younger son and his fiancee got their paperwork, hired a clergy and got married in a beautiful local park. Their's cost a little more as they went out with family to eat afterward. So getting married doesn't have to cost a lot.

      I completely agree. He asked no questions at all regarding the state of their relationship and I found it really irresponsible to push for marriage considering we know nothing about how their relationship is.
      I feel so sorry for her and I really hope she will be ok and that that baby will have a good start in life.

    He needs to finish EMT school (while working part time) it’s usually a short process then likely guaranteed a full time well paying job with overtime.
    If it doesn’t work out with your boyfriend then go to dental hygiene school and get help from family/ friends to watch ur baby. I’m a single mom on a nurses salary and much better off financially then I was married (because I follow Dave’s plan & budget). Good luck Christina 🤞

    Im going to disagree with some of the advice the for the first caller. The boyfriend needs stay in EMT school, it's a 6 month course, he's probably almost through it or will be done by the time the baby is born. He will work 12 hour shifts and be off to take care of the baby or be able to work overtime. It's not the greatest path to take but it's reasonable since they are so young and if he gets on with a county it will be good health insurance. They will be able to come up with the 4000 soon after he gets a job. I'm sorry you are in this car situation but the sacrifice you are making to get that course will allow him to make a decent income for the 3 of you.

    Re: dave's advice to Christina, i see where Dave is coming from , but 31 year old christina will probably not be w/ baby daddy. She'll probably be a single mom or onto the next guy. Most of these young, knock up situations don't end well at all and getting married doesn't change the underlying issues... namely, they probably wouldn't even be together if it weren't for baby and a marriage can't survive 30 years in 2020 when it's not a good match to begin with. The benefits of marriage will be far less when you marry the wrong guy that knocked you up. either way, these two made a horrible decision that will impact them for the next 25 years
    Otherwise, a marriage is the most stable and best thing you can do for your children. the traditional way is the best way when it comes to reproduction

      Yes, but I think the Dave's point is that she's better off to find out whether he's going to stand up and take responsibility now rather than to play house for years and be stuck going nowhere until he figures it out.

    • @whitneyw.7919
      @whitneyw.7919 3 года назад +5

      @@RichardCaldwell I definitely agree with the commitment aspect of living together unmarried, but don't recommend marriage unless both she and he are confident that they would marry regardless of her being pregnant and that they're a good match. It's significantly harder to determine compatibility though when you do things out of order. Great points though Richard :)
      Part of me thinks that dave recommended marriage to ensure that Christina got the guy's wallet more than anything

      @@micheal1700 He shoudl take accountability. Just not sure if marrying someone you don't want to marry in the 21st century is a viable solution. You can only pretend for so long in our hedonistic society. Being married to the wrong person could feel like a prison sentence i'd imagine

    • @alycce
      @alycce 3 года назад +6

      @@whitneyw.7919 spiritually they are tied together(they are about to have a baby)...I think Dave is looking out for the 21 year old mom( no judgement ! every person has a right to live life they see fit) but I struggle with the idea of people living together and having kids and say they don’t want to marry a wrong person (some live together for 20 years ) . If you don’t want to get married that it is fine but living with someone for 10 years plus and saying you don’t want to marry a wrong person is disrespectful to the person you are living with and there is something wrong w/that statement on many levels.

    Julianne, look around for prominent reviewers and review sites. Offer them free (advanced) reading copies of your book in exchange for a review. Ask to do a guest post/interview on their sites. Things like this are called “blog tours,” and they’re basically like book tours but through prominent book review sites. Also, look to make a presence on Goodreads. I think Shapiro cited the bureau of labor statistics (but it could be a different source) but the statistics showed the opposite, that never-married women far out earned married women because the married women generally took years off as a stay-at-home mom, not working. This was investigating the misrepresented wage gap and showing on average, someone who works 20 hours per week makes less than someone who works 40 hours, and someone who works from graduating college onward makes more and has higher paying jobs than someone who worked 2 years then stayed at home for 10 years.

    While I normally appreciate the Ramsey advise, I do have an issue with him misrepresenting statistics in this way. It’s made out that the factor given (such as marriage) is the cause of the economic impact, rather than being an indicator or a specific lifestyle type and upbringing. It’s much more likely that the type of people who are educated about money and working good jobs are also more likely to have a more stable upbringing and more affluent parents, which then also makes them more likely to marry etc

      Not true in all cases necessarily. My husband and I had 2 young kids together before we got married. Our health insurance expenses tripled because we suddenly made too much money to qualify for our individual policies and for our kids policy. We paid much less before because we only had to count our individual incomes on the application. I also lost my financial aid and had to stop going to school because my income was suddenly too high. We were much better off financially prior to being legally married. I agree marriage is important in terms of the spiritual/Christian standpoint, but it does not benefit people in all cases financially.
