I just got my pro plus 6qt today. I live in the Netherlands EU I'm so glad my display is black and not that mirror display. I love my new pot 😁 early valentines gift i asked for.
Hi, what do you mean by this? I am considering buying the Pro Plus from the Dutch Instant Pot site in the EU, did they put a different screen on it here or something?
@@jonatana.4540 The US the display screen is like chroom and difficult to see but here in the netherlands mine was glossy black with a chroom rim around it.

I just got the Pro during Prime Day(s) and it came with a "get started" booklet and a recipe booklet. Appears that the recipes are the same but the cover has been updated for the Pro Plus. There are some really cool features on this machine but that mirror screen is really hard to see things on - at least on camera. Enjoy!
Great review of this instant pot. If the pot was on a black mat or dark surface the mirror would reflect the dark color making it easier to read.👌

Maybe the mirror finish is to encourage app use 😃 I'd put a black mat in front of it so there's less reflection

I’ve never used an Instant Pot (shocking, I know!) so I was happy to see this unboxing video today. I inherited an Instant Pot from a friend who tried it a couple times and then just never kept using it (also shocking 😮) so now, with this tutorial, I’m excited to give it a go. I’ll be scouting your videos for recipes now. Thank you!
Watch getting started videos. It's called an Instant Pot but it does not cook things in an instant. It does not start counting down until it reaches pressure. You will not reach pressure without a thin liquid like water or broth. Thich liquids like sauce or gravy won't work and will scorch or burn on the bottom. You will get a burn notice and might ruin your pot.
The first thing to make after water test is Hard Boiled eggs. once you see how easy the shells come off you'll never do it on you stove top again.
You'll be cooking everything in your IP.
P.S. When cooking meat let it natural pressure release for at least 10 min to retain the juices and keep meat from being dry.
Nili was my very first Instant Pot Guru! I've been following her since 2018 and I'm so glad I have! When I got my first one I tried to put the lid into the slots on the handles on the sides only to discover that my model had no slots and no corresponding tabs on the lid! I'd recommend totally absorbing her "Instant Pot Adventures" playlist! I learned a lot from her and recommend her videos to lots of people on the Instant Pot Community! Best wishes to you and yours!
I bought an instant pot Smart years and years ago that had the option of controlling temperature and time using Bluetooth from your phone. It was great for things like bone broth where you wanted it to cycle temperatures etc. But after a couple years the app on the app store became unusable and so those features are lost. These "smart" features are only as good as the support. And I don't have much faith in that over the long term. But I'm hankering after a yogurt setting 😉
@Sharvo Sharvo - I agree with you about the app usability. Another app shortcoming is if you do not have a need for the latest and greatest phone your phone will eventually not be compatible with the app software. IE: my Galaxy S2 is still perfect for all of my needs and there are very few apps that include it. No biggie. I don't have a need for apps anyway. Another reason that is a pro vs a con with this Instant Pot - it doesn't need the app to use it. Most of the others say "you HAVE TO HAVE THE APP" to use it. I'm sure that is incorrect and not well thought out marketing.

Thanks for the review, been looking at that pot. I’m wondering how shiny, hard to read the display is in normal light (without your TV lights). Are the words any easier to read?
I just called them about canning low acid foods because I was wooried about the same thing I contacted them and they told me that for low acid foods you have to can on the MAX setting. I didn't know they came out with another canning instant pot until I was looking at Cooking with Doug Video and he was pointing out the features. The Max has been tested by this scientist and her channel is Rose Red the lady with a gadget she testes a lot of stuff and she is a college professor of science . She tested the Instant Pot Max and it passed her test. Check it out when you get a chance it's very interesting watching how she performs her test I learn a lot from her about electronic canning and the science behind canning both electric and manually.
Just bought one yesterday mines a older model than this. Made 2KK yogert. Yum. oh, and HB eggs
My older model instant pot had a sterile setting useful in water bath canning. I don’t see a specific operation for sterilizing on this model. Can you sterilize using another function with the instant pot pro plus 6qt with Wi-Fi. Thanks for your response.
I actually need a new IP and this one looks so nice.
The only downside to this one is that the display is very difficult for me to see based on the video..

I would say that the shiny display would be really annoying for me. I need glasses to see at my age and that is awful. I really want a new machine with the handles so either I will wait for a better display or I;lol get an EVO Plus or a Pro. Thanks for the unboxing.

Hi Nili, Thanks for the review. I just got the I-P Pro a couple of months ago, because I wanted the new inner pot, that wouldn't spin when sauteing something. Now of course they've debuted yet another one! Don't think I like the mirror display, it will be impossible to keep fingerprints off, which will be annoying. Have you ever made yogurt in the I-P?
i have in an older one with no choice of settings on the yogurt. i love my homemade yogurt....amazing. I highly recomend. I use Fairlife milk for the lower carb count and drain it to very thick in a strainer.

Is the touch screen less durable than simple buttons on the pro model?
I wonder if there’s a way to do a delayed steam release like when you cook hard boiled eggs and do a 5 minute natural pressure release. This one seems pretty awesome but I think the shiny display is a deal breaker for me.

IP Max was not released in Europe. I was informed about a new model that had the canning ability like the Max. I'm guessing this is it....pro plus.

I can’t decide between the Instantpot Pro and the Instantpot Pro Plus. If you had to choose one over the other which would you prefer??? Or do you have a different model that’s your favorite?
Does the display ever turn off completely or stays on with displaying OFF when not in use.
I can see the issue with the high gloss finish be a issue for me. Also was wondering about the the cover being held up, on what ever side, do you think it would it be a problem with liquid on the cover running down in the small groves around the pot or around the cover making cleaning more difficult? Thx in advance!!!
When I lift the cover off, I immediately hold it over the sink and wipe it with a cloth before I set it back in the slot of the pot. No water anywhere. I leave the lid and pot open to air out and dry before I set it aside out of the way. I have a canvas like cloth cover for it from Amazon.

Yes, Choose the “Custom” setting for yogurt, adjust temperature to 100 F/38 C and adjust time to 36:00 hours.
Can an inta pot take the place of a crock pot?

Been trying for a week to find out if this unit has an ALTITUDE setting/adjustment. Instant pot doesn't even have the manual available. Also - Their website states this is 1500 watts and I question this. Anyone know?
Check and see what info Amazon mentions. I do remember seeing altitude adjustments on the Ultra model but I don’t know about the Pro. You could also try sending Instant Brands an email. Good luck!
There is a reply from Instant Pot on Best Buys site. No, you cannot adjust the setting based on what I read. Nor should you use this to pressure can over 4k something as indicated in their reply.
Everything in mine burns. Too much water and it spits. Too little and it burns. I hate it!

It’s rediculous they put light letters on a light background, i wouldn’t buy it for that very reason. If light background then the numbers/letters have to be darker, if they light up, blue or green so much better but otherwise should just be a darker colour. It’s really a shame as everything else looks great, im just not going to strain my eyes trying to read the menu. Thank you for the unboxing, this helped me a lot 💕

This is a no for me. That mirror panel kills it for me. I'm one of those with vision issues, one of them being this type of labeling.
