I have a VW Polo 1.4 16v, I had an abnormal consumption of antifreeze, thanks to your video I discovered that I had to replace that spare part and how to disassemble it. Thank you from Italy🔝👍
Did anyone by pass this with a longer pipe..all it does is the flow of water from water bottle to radiator..if you by passed it is it still working properly..pls advise
Possible problem mate is the heater 😬 inside the dash there is a small radiator for heater you can disconnect the two hose that going to the inside the car for temporary fixing it but you don’t have a aircon heater inside the car
Just tell the mechanic that just temporary bypass the heater hose and they will understand what i said and if you have the budget already you can replace the heater radiator inside 😉 take not is quite expensive to do that because you gonna full down the whole dashboard 😬
Its better also just check to the mechanic if the heater radiator is the one that leaks they can pressure test it same the one that i did for troubleshooting 😉
I have a 1.2 polo 2013 and I can see that when car is on there are bubbles in the coollant tank and car is shaking , and giving grey smoke with no power. I have to top the coolant every 3 to 4 days. Are these the symptoms Oliver. ?
Get a longer hose and throw away the plastic piece and divert coolant flow it works better less leaks and maintenance in the future I had the same problem replaced entire water system
Good video, I've just done this job. A bit fiddly. Badly designed part. It's made of 2 halves and the bond between them breaks down with the heat and a gap opens up. And some VW Polos have a drain valve but others like this and mine do not!
Hi. Very nice tutorial. I'm thinking what this part doing?? Is this useful or can we make a bypass to avoid any damages??? update 02/2023.i make this bypass with a longer hose and it works perfectly over three months.FEC (fast easy cheap)
Thanks mate for the positive response i think you cannot bypass that due to it connected also on the intake manifold 😬 it snap also on the manifold check the video again 😉
@@ikraamjattiem696do you just bypass the small coolant hose and leave the plastic thing with the plastic hoses in place? Or do you have to bypass the big hoses too?
Hi Oliver, I have a VW Polo GTI 2015 Auto, 1.8T, and I have the same issue of coolant leaking, I am in Melbourne, and may I know how much it cost to fix that? And if you are in Melbourne also, i may just bring my car to your place.
Hello mate 😉 sorry I’m not in Melbourne Im in NT 😊 I’m not quite sure for the labor because that’s my car mate 😅 i don’t charge him much but on my perspective it will took not more than 2 hrs on the dealership may be around 300 to 400 labor cost 😉 cheers Oliver
there is also a coolant hose near the air intake mate? just check it out if it’s reddish fluids possible coolant or transmission fluids if it’s automatic 😉

I agree mate badly designed 😁
Can I just bypass it using longer hose and attach to return coolant pipe
It’s depends mate if you’re hose will fit
Hose fit and finally got bypass that pipe.. The pipe still there fitted in the intake with pcv value hose attached so the vacuum is not affected
Nice just double check mate if there is no leak 😉 if there’s nothing you’re good 😉
How you open this? How you get to the pipe?
I think i already showed it on my video mate

I think that goes at the back of the engine mate heater going to inside the car for aircon
