That sir, is musical awesomeness! It’s talented people like yourself who can inspire a 63 year old rock and roller to buy the Volca series of instruments and be so excited about learning and discovering from our younger generation of awesome musicians! Thanks for this video! I agree with what someone else said in the comments too! It would be great if you could do a tutorial vid explaining how you went through the process of creating this piece! Liked and Subbed! Happy New Year!
To all the ones who are wondering like I once did: It,s 1 Volca Bass playing various separated parts then mixed on video, At first I was so amazed when I saw the performance an the connections on this video , cause I had my brand new volca bass and thought I could do this with my little new machine, after learning a little bit of it, saw this video again and thought: It would have been fantastic if the owner of the video would clarify this on the description like all the videos of volcas I´ve seen :(
SO, are you saying that performing this piece is simply not possible on a Volca Bass on it's own BUT it has to mixed on a recording? BTW, I don't own one ...
@@mickypoo4622 with 2 or 3 of them, a TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb pedal and a mixer you could do most of this. Or 1 volca bass, a cheap Behringer audio interface and a DAW like Reaper (free, comes with FX)
@@jgmusicman2281 yes there is, but you only have 1 envelop generator. So the bassline would sound much different if he did that. And recording 3 times allows you to tweak and mix the 3 parts better.
This is Amazing. I wish you could do a tutorial on how you did this. I've only just started using the Volca Bass and all I get is distorted fart noises!
Apparently one of the A&B guys wrote it after the birth of his child and seeing the sun in their eyes. From a Reddit post about the song: “Paavo told a story at the Weekender that this instrumental was conceived after he saw the sun in his child’s eyes for the first time and he thought about how in our final moments, there are only a few moments we will recall. He then meant to send this instrumental to Zoe Johnston with this lyrical concept in mind, but Zoe was accidentally sent a completely different instrumental. That song became “Only a Few Things” while “Sun In Your Eyes” remained an instrumental permanently. So that probably has something to do with the voice whispering “There are only a few things I miss.”
This is awesome man! I have a 4 unit volca set up. Keys..bass..fm....beats and mixer. How are you recording this ? And video at the same time? The sound is great🤘
Holy shit! I'm totally impressed and in awe. I'm going to get my volca bass out right now!!! You really should upload the patches and the sequences for everyone to play with. I easily vote this track for trance music production video of the year!!!
Putting my clothes on to go buy the Volca Bass. I have saw literally everything in RUclips about it and your videos are among the best. Thank you mate !
He recorded both parts and mixed them together. He's using all 3 VCOs in both parts. This wouldn't be possible without editing afterwards. That's also the reason why he was possible to play such long patterns.
This is awesome. Kinda reminds me of a slower version of Jones and Stephenson - The First Rebirth, although being quite different. I guess I'll have to dig out my Volca Bass again...
Man, you're so inspiring. I've invested myself in quite a bunch of gear lately, boss 505 and so on, and I'm purchasing one of these little beauties this week. The melodies that came to mind while listening to your music were astounding and that's all on you, boy. Good job!!!
Great stuff! Noob question - how is it that something called the Volca Bass can do top-end arps like this? I thought, perhaps not unreasonably, that this was a bass synth - but it turns out it can do melodic stuff too? (I'm a noob, as I say.)
It has a 16 step sequencer and an 8 octave range (6 octaves available on the keyboard, and you can tune the oscillators up/down by one octave), so it's kinda better suited for arpeggios and this kind of stuff than bass lines - given that the sequencer has too few steps to do all that interesting bass lines.
where and how for find a transfo 9 volt for this machine I have this one but don't have a transfo for this please help me if you can thank you much very wheel
Hear that? Hear that silence? That's the sound of thousands of elitist, volca hating assholes eating their hats.
Brilliant work.
just came for this, very good display of the right application of this product.
volca's are here to stay!!!!!
prfffrt you wil get it running
Epic comment. You win the award for best comment of the day.
Good job mate
👍
I didn't know anyone hated the volcas or that there was an elitist side to synth music 😶

As an Above and Beyond fan, hats off to you for this one. Still so beautiful all these years later ❤
Thanks for keeping the Resonance down. Nice to hear a closed down Filter for once. Brilliant composition. Very inspiring.
No matter what I do, I just can't get mine to sound even close to this, not even with delay and reverb. Kudos to you, love to see how you did it.

@@mickypoo4622 yeah definitely. i just got one and you simply cannot cannot do all of this with just one volca bass. They are really awesome though

Isn't there 3 separate channels for sequencing? One for each oscillator? I thought that's how he did it. With some external FX.

What's wrong with distorted fart noises! :D
Hahaha
Maybe you should get into producing psytrance, reverb and delayed fart noise go pretty far in pt 😂
Underrated comment 😂
Thats gonna be me :) Psy for Life
This track always brings ethereal tribal vibes to mind. Hearing it at the shows is magical; but this right here, this is just as magnificent.

Hey is there ever a chance of you doing a how to on this 😱
The author is dead.
@@hrahmani5738 Guess again
What external tools did you use for the reverb and delay?
As a newcomer into synth music and owner of a Volca Bass, I would pay to hear you explain how you managed to recreate this masterpiece.
Nice! Sure would like to know how you pre-set it up.
Beautiful. In the second part the play button is off.where is the playback coming from.
?

what are your settings for the main bassline? cause mine doesnt even sound close, the note programming on these things is a btch
Man that's devastating.
Top Much feeling in that, that's awesome
feel it the volca feel love or hate them butttttt they rock!!!
Incredible sounds of live
Magnifique 👌☮
Hi , very nice sound , how do you get these tones? Which sequence did you use? I also bought a Volca bass
Ok i need to buy this Volca Bass again.
It seems like there is a lot of cross over in functionality among the Volca Bass, the FM, and the Keys. Am I nuts?
Yup. People be making their beats with the Sample, the bass with the FM, and the leads with the bass.
This is awesome. Kinda reminds me of a slower version of Jones and Stephenson - The First Rebirth, although being quite different. I guess I'll have to dig out my Volca Bass again...
Man, this is awesome. I hope I will do that with mine some day ;)
Brilliant
Such so a little Box and so a powerful sound...wauuuu
Ok I want one of these…..can I basically plug it in and play it?…..one the best tunes ever made by above and beyond
