We are lucky in the UK to get an extended range of all of these , mostly Batch Strength Sherry finished apart from the Epicurean where they went for both the port pipe versions (Ruby & White) as a finish . I will be sipping along Scott , cheers mate : ) I know this will be a popular watch in Europe .
Yup, I think Ralfy just tried one of the upper-level ones (age-stated, of course). Me, I'd be content with just having a solid Lowlands malt on the shelf in any old form...
Have you tried any whiskies from Michel Couvreur? I am currently on Germany and the owner of a whisky shop recommended me a "blossoming auld sherried". After trying i must say it is the best sherry casked whisky i ever tried! Knocks Macallans and Glendronachs out the park.
I have not! Admittedly, part of what I like about the Laings here is the lack of aggressive oak - even with the Scallywag - and I've always taken the Couvreur approach to go pretty hard in the other direction...
you can watch an enthusiastic review of a Couvreur BAS bottling on the Malt Reviews channel. Of course, they love massive wood influenced whiskies, and even more the ultra-sherried ones. Also, they think their BAS version could actually be a Glen Moray, which makes some sense (not being a huge sherry powerhouse malt like M......n or G.......e).
Different spirits, different opinions. I for one do not understand the praise these nas regionals get (which they do). Too young for me, raw, underdeveloped. Can't be any whisky more than 4 years old in them * in my opinion * (which * can * work, some of these new scotch/english distilleries are pulling that off. But not here). Rock oyster is muddy clay, Scallyag is gristy with burnt sugar, TBst, well I dont remember the Beastie. The age stated ones though are sublime. Sublime. Well, that's my opinion, and I wanted to share it.
Completely possible that I just got a great set! There's no way this is any younger than 2018, after all, so it's totally within bounds that they've gone downhill since. (But I can only taste what's in front of me, and I rather enjoyed these.)

IMHO, the Rock Oyster / Island expressions should not contain Islay malt. Call me a purist, but I don't like that choice.
I mean, Islay is technically an island... but then Speyside is in the highlands, so...
apparently, they've just released a new limited expression: The Epicurean - The Glasgow Edition (cask strength).
@@stopdrinkingpurple8774 Would buy, if I had the chance anyhow. Have I mentioned I miss Auchie Valinch?
