It's funny you show that picture of Florence in the pink suit because that looked SUPER casual to me - like she just threw it on and left. It wasn't until you started breaking down her outfit that I was like, "yep, thats a lot." But I think it demonstrates just how "Up" Florence is and that she can handle A LOT. She can wear ACTUAL costumes and it just looks 100% normal and correct on her 😄❤
To me , Vanessa Hudgens is another person like that. she's not as Up as florence but also L+U and she totally has that thing where some of her outfits look easy but as soon as you start making a list you realize she has like 100 things on!
Total ah-ha moment when she said at 4:50 when she compared attention/all-eyes-on-me (gravity) vs. giving out the light (radiant). It’s almost like pulling energy in towards you or giving energy out towards others. 🤯 That helps clarify so much the difference between left and right for me.
It's be so cool to see people of each Kibbe type that fit into each quadrant! So often I think SNs like me would get shoved into the down section, but there are some (like J Lo) who are definitely up!
I really appreciate this approach to style. I have always thought more about how I feel in my clothes. After going through the keywords, I think I am supposed to be in the Ruby key, but I still feel drawn to aspects of other keys. Now, onto the next step!
This is great fun! I’ve followed kibbe for several years now and love how that system, in the original book, is based on a person’s lines and harmonizing with what exists, not trying to “correct” for anything or create illusions of some ideal body. This system of yours is intriguing because I see it’s about expression, no matter what body and lines a person has! I’m excited to learn it. Also I just started following you and I really enjoy your own energy and expression. You’re great with words and seem very creative and generous.
Rita, you are amazing, and you are glowing! A new video of you always makes my day. I love how you always provoke us to think outside the box and don't care so much about what is supposed to be, how we should dress etc. Thank you so much! Btw, I know I commented that I think I am a curvy FN with a right down essence, but after thinking about it and trying on more outfits (like for the millionth time in forever), I realized I might actually have an SD body with an all the way down, all the way right essence - quite a stark contrast to the stereotypical SD essence, which would explain why I look good in plain SD dresses, but as soon as I add accessoires, patterns, heels, too dark or simply a too sensual style, I literally look like a clown (thus the thought that I am FN/N). Well, I guess I have a new thought to entertain, let's see if that works! Thank you so much again, your content is also helping a LOT with my body image (which has been really bad for years). Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So I'm definitely Left. I'm having trouble determining my level of downess/upness. I think it might be because my lifestyle is extremely casual. I want to dress up more, but I feel like I'm being extra💥 for the occasions in my life.
One important clarification -- I derped and forgot to make this clear in the video!!! Another great video, thank you 🐣 I'm sooooo looking forward to more to come I can't wait to see the left up quadrant especially. Really interested in seeing the people you put forward as examples because 'up' looks tend to be regarded as events for most rather than a lifestyle, hence all the talk of 'dressing up' on 'special occasions'. I remember arriving at university feeling casually dressed in a white button down and being asked why I was so dressed up. If only I had the language to explain myself then 😂 If you're still taking suggestions, I recommend finding photos of Rihanna in leather and fur. Especially coats. I have a mood board with just her in coats which I started after I saw a picture of her wearing this giant black and blue fur coat with a denim dress and fishnet stockings. It's glorious! Thank you for being wonderful and you look lovely in the video 💕
Thank you for another great video, your system is really straight forward and I love how you concentrate on essence. I think I'm Right and Up. I tend to be more dressed up than others in the same occasion (ie work, meeting friends). It is how I feel more 'me'. Others do tend to comment a lot on the way how smart I always look and how it must take me ages to get ready in the morning (but it doesnt in reality). It makes me think I must be Up. Looking forward to seeing more videos 😊
I feel you, my outfits take thought to create but actually getting dressed is very simple and straightforward! Glad you enjoyed it and could place yourself ❤
Thank you for the video! I love your system and you are so shiny!! Can't wait to see the video about down right (and left ). I really love you approach to style and fashion it's so natural, so easy and helps me to feel like true me
Girl, looking so fab!!! I'm enjoying this a lot. So I know I'm up, and that's an exciting discovery! I'm having a hard time determining left or right. I think right would be the more "obvious" choice ... but ... I really feel a pull to incorporating some elements like snakeskin and raw crystals, and having a deep side part in my hair with one side slicked back - which seems more left. But in general texture in fabric does not do me any favors, lol. And I also am not as open and projecting of energy as Blake Lively, for example, although there are physical similarities for sure. So I don't know if I could be somewhat in the middle and then leaning left or right would be mood dependent?? Excited to learn more and see more examples! Just knowing I'm up brings so much clarity in my styling approach.
Is it just me, but from a lot of Left celebrities I see, on the red carpet, they are seen more with a more serious/carefree/ sensual look on their face, while more right people usually have like a light to very radiant smile on red carpets? Idk, that’s just a pattern I observed.
I have definitely thought about this because dark/rich colors are so much more "left" to me whole light/soft colors read more "right" However, most WOC are winter/fall in the traditional color system ...and I can think of SO many WOC who fall on the right. So I don't really think personal color definitely places you left/right but it's definitely an interesting factor to consider! I just don't want to give anyone the wrong idea about how they *must* be left because they have dark hair!
Just found these Essence videos today and finding them very interesting! I only learned about Kibbe in the past year and figured I've a Classic body type, so I started trying to wear more Classic styles but something didn't quite feel right. I'm now thinking that perhaps I'm more Left+Down than the new looks I was trying out. Regarding the seasonal colours, I had real trouble figuring out if I was a Winter or a Fall, as Winter seemed too harsh, and Fall too warm. In the past year I came across Merriam Style's Colour Analysis system, and in that one I think I land in the Cool+Delicate area due to having cool undertones in my skin, which corresponds more closely to the traditional Summer season - but of course, my hair is dark and my eyes are brown, so I would never be placed in traditional Summer!! I generally prefer wearing dark tones of the shades that suit a Summer. Perhaps I'll call myself a Dark Summer, or a Muted Winter! 😂 I highly recommend exploring Merriam Style's Colour Analysis system as I'd love to know your responses to it! I definitely feel like my preference for muted dark shades factored into my thinking that I may be more of a Left+Down, because perhaps if I were trying to not stand out a lot, I would choose more muted tones. Even when I did choose bright yellows, I generally went for items that made me feel more approachable, so that seems to fit into the Down area. I would love to see videos on the Left+Down and Right+Down essences for women, as in my head I place Earth and Water elements on the Left side and Fire and Air elements on the Right side, but it sounds like as Fire and Air are elements, that would put them on the Left side also, and the radiant essence of the Right is something different. You've given me lots to think about, so thank you! I shall be checking out more of your videos.
Thank you for this. I am really excited for your next videos. I get confused on the dreamy side because I relate it to ethereal beauty but according to your previous video Kate Blanchett is on the left side. Florence Welch's dresses look also dreamy to me. I guess ethereal is different from dreamy? Haha. How about Michelle Pfeiffer is she on left or right? She looks somewhat cold ethereal to me.
I never understood ethereal to be honest. If it's about being "transcendent" I guess that is to the right. To me Kate Blanchett has a very enveloping, magnetic, Elemental power, so that's why I put her there. I don't know Michelle Pfeifer but I will look into her!
Sorry I'm geeking out, but I see the interrelation with Kibbe IDs! With Winona as an example: I can see she wears some more structured, buttoned-up things, which fit her body, because she's definitely a gamine. But she looks stiff. She needs wildness to express her essence.
I'm sure that I go into the "down" category but can't really figure out if I'm "right" or "left". I think what confuses the most is the word elemental in the left side because I really like to wear natural fabrics like linen or put on jewelry that has a natural or bohemian look to them that has natural stones or look more "antique". But I would wear them in a more dreamy and soft way which makes me confused. I really would appreciate your input in this, thanks!
I will say that I’m a soft natural and identify the most left down. Some of the keywords are sensual and enveloping… Kitchener essence wise I would say I am natural/romantic/ingenue so I feel very represented in left down. The lines fit my body because they’re not tight, stiff or uncomfortable. They look effortless, instead of super orchestrated and planned. And i wear delicate jewelry that flows w the body lines. I feel like it’s perfect 😊
So random but what quadrant would you place Helena bonham Carter? I feel like I’m a LU but I adore her style so much and how she’s able to express herself even if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea

@@StyleThoughtsbyRita Ha! That is great and thanks for answering. I was thinking in terms of this: ruclips.net/video/Ou76MCkNwWg/видео.html But I see how this radiating outwards on the left vs. drawing energy inwards on the right is a big part of the distinction. Could maybe correlate to what is also archetypaly called light vs. dark feminine?
Hmm very interesting, I definitely lean towards the right and probably up cause I look sloppy very easily in very casual outfit that still looks good on many people lol
Is it possible to fall right in the middle of left and right? I really feel drawn to both sides. Or, I feel like I'm dreamy in an elemental way if that even makes sense? (I am a FG if that helps...naturally drawn to opposites!)
