  • Are you about to start NP school and are looking for ways to prepare? In this video I will cover the mental, academic, and organization tips that will help you succeed in Nurse Practitioner School! In the months before starting NP school, I definitely do not recommended studying or stressing yourself out in any way, however, there are some routines you can get into, and passive studying methods to bring you up to speed without spending hours in the books. Many of these same concepts apply for Nursing school, PA school, and I’m sure medical school! So if you are preparing to enter any intensive healthcare academic journey, these tips may be helpful! Good luck on your journey!

I did dialysis for 2 years, ER for a year and then said I want to be a provider! so I got a job working at medical group giving injections for chemo, travel, immunizations, rhogam etc and in my free time i read the doctors intake notes. I work 5 days a week idk how I'm going to do clinicals. there is one NP that works at my medical group. maybe she can advise. I love your videos and have been watching all of them. I hope to become a FNP. You are the best and congrats on baby !!!!

    I've always wanted to be a Veterinarian but gave up on that dream after life was too rough on me and I lost my parents. I took a break from school and reevaluated myself and figured RN would be a good transition. I can help animals in a different way, I do not need to be a vet just to help them. I've wanted a leadership role and figured CRNA or NP would be a good fit. I'm excited for this new career route, albeit I am sad to give up my vet dream, still excited.

    Hi Liz! I hope you and your family are well and staying safe.
    Thank you for your video. I’m starting NP school next month. What do you think of getting an ebook copy of the books you recommended rather than purchasing the hardcover? I like the feeling of holding the physical book but it seems like it’s gonna be heavy to be bringing it around. I’m thinking it’ll be more handy to have it on my iPad in iBooks instead. What do you think? I’d like to hear your opinion before deciding. Thank you for your time :)

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  4 года назад +1

      Totally up to you! I liked having the ebook sometimes because If I was taking notes on my ipad I could just pull tables or bits of text right into my notes that were helpful and I didn't have to bring physical books with me when I left the house and wanted to get some work done.

    Does the 2 books you showed have online access as well? I really don’t want to purchase anymore hard copy books that don’t have an online assess because I want to start taking notes on my iPad with the option of going to paper book at times. Hello Nurse Liz, thanks for tips. I start FNP school in the Spring.
    Did you work while in school? What shift do you recommend? I currently work alternating shifts days and nights. How did you manage working whilst in school?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  5 лет назад +5

      Hey! Congrats on getting into your program! My NP program was part time so I worked full time for the first two years (night shift) and my last year I worked part time and had to do dayshift because there literally weren't enough days in the week to do nights haha. I think whichever shift works best for you! I liked nights because every once in a while I had a chill night and could get a little studying done! Not often. But it happened 1-2 times a month and it was golden. I didn't have a life haha.

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  6 лет назад +3

      Montsm01 not a stupid question at all!! I literally had to be shown step by step how they worked because I was so clueless when I first started using them. Also, I don’t think the platform is always super user friendly. Do you have an iphone or android? I know with iPhones you can use the “Apple podcasts” app to download them. I use an app called overcast, because it helps you skip commercials. Both are free apps, and there are TONS of them if you look in your App Store. The podcasts auto download usually when connected to WiFi, and are stored on your phone. Then delete once you’ve listened!
