The streamlined edits were great, and as you mentioned I hate watching ppl think! But I loved that you left the reason why a move was done. Really helped me understand how the game plays. The game looks like a fun twist on the base 7WD. Hopefully there is an expansion, as like with base 7WD seems like it would be very difficult to win the science way, as there aren’t enough “stall” moves to force your opponent to pick a card
I’m glad you liked the format! I think you end up with about the same landscape tiles as you did completed wonders in the original. What other stall moves were there in the original not here?
@@TheGameBoyGeeks Meant that 7WD+Pantheon expansion offered more ways to stall moves with the option to purchase the god's favors, and possibly to double turns.
I agree that the sunject matter leave amazing opportunities for expansions. Unfortunately, the designers have said that they consider this game complete and do not intend to make any expansions. Then again there would be $$$ to be made...

I like this format. You do a good job of explaining each turn and all the options. It helps teach the game better for me than any rules overview. Thematically, I find it a little odd that the Fellowship can win by military. But, maybe I can think of it as the Free Peoples securing enough support and strength to secure a clear path to destroy the Ring. The only thing it doesn’t capture is the temptation and lure of the Ring, but that would probably add to much to a game like this.
This game is literally a War of The Ring "lite". Because you can win both militarily, or by catching the fellowship, or by dunking the ring etc. Also has the map and unit presence. Really nice alternative for a faster paced game of Sauron vs the Free Peoples 😁
This format worked for me. I’m waiting for delivery of my game which should arrive any day. After watching your play through it will be much more enjoyable to play and not as big of learning curve. I do play 7 Wonders Duel too, but love LTR theme! I did get a bit stuck with the map and how you knew where to originally place the soldiers at start. Trying to remember how the towers came into play, but may need to rewatch parts of this video. Maybe through the landmark tiles? Can’t wait to play!
I think you were playing your bonus incorrectly. You don't place one unit anywhere, you place an extra unit in the chosen region. Great play though though. I love the edits and close up views.
I think at the beginning I mixed it up with the vivid that allows you to place one anywhere. I think I caught that towards the end. Both icons look similar and’s I had the other one in my previous gage so that was stuck in my head!
Clarification question- when the fellowship moves the ring track and as a result lands the other team on a reward, Sauron doesn’t get to cash in the reward because they didn’t move the track, correct? Also, if you move two on the track and jump over a reward, do you still claim it? Or do you need to land directly on it?
First question… boardgamegeek.com/thread/3391818/does-sauron-wins-bonus-when-frodo-advances 2nd question page 6 of rule book in bold it says reaches or passes….
Thanks for the playthrough. I wonder does the "every resource cost just 1 coin" feel too simple? In 7WD each missing resource cost was equal to 2 coins + whatever amount the opponent had on that resource, even though less streamline it feels it made the economy more engaging for both players.
I mentioned in my comparison and first impressions video linked to this one, that I liked the streamlined of 1 coin per resource much better than always constantly calculating 2+ the amount of those icons the other player has. It really makes the decisions as thoughtful, but not making mundane calculations over and over. This is much smoother, and it feels much more tense since there is no scoring.
I think a playthrough like this, which in my opinion was very short and to the point, is a much better way to see if a game is right for you or not. Since an opinion is really personal , what one likes and other can dislike. So I prefer playthroughs over review and overview. But I enjoy playthroughs a lot and don't even mind long and unedited playthroughs IF I enjoy watching the game. I do think a very clean cut and to the point video like this I probably watch till the end, but it's hard to say, since I did like this boardgame.
That was awesome! The close-ip cameras and the editing made all the difference. I just subscribed and would love to see this format to continue.
Thanks! I’m glad you liked the format!
And yes, I would prefer more play throughs! I get more from a play through then I do with an overview and review.
