HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! I'm sharing my designer tips to make your small space feel and look larger!! I hope this gives you some ideas you can use in your home!!♥️🏡
Can you please do a video on color palettes/choosing home colors so it looks cohesive and how to incorporate those colors throughout a room? Thank you!! Love your videos ☺️
*Balance* . I have a semi-open concept space. I may only entertain a few times per year, having a large dining table was important to me. Compared to the tiny table the previous owner had in the space, my large table fills the space and looks grand. I agree, form and function matter, don't be afraid to go BIG in small spaces. It's a statement.
One of your best tips videos so far. We have a 2400 square foot home, but some of the secondary bedrooms are a little small. Your tips are giving me good ideas. I would love to see longer videos of this type and shorter ones about the store hauls. Thanks for what you do! 😊
Something I love about you is that you romanticize and find beauty and joy in the small and mundane moments of life 🥹 The content you put out there has a meaning and a purpose. The joy you have for the things you do and love just shines through and is such a pleasure to witness 🤍
Thank you for all your videos. I just started following you bcs our house plans just got permitted. I have my work cut out for me! I really liked your 'know your design style' video.
This is one of your very best videos! I like how you presented timeless design tips and less "flavor of the week" trends. Love the single piece workout alternatives! Thank you so much!!
When we found the colour we wanted for our kitchen, it only came in semi-gloss. We gritted our teeth and tried it. It looked fantastic. When we had to re-do a wall a few years later, eggshell was available, so we thought we'd give it a try. It didn't look as good. The glossier finish made the colour look brighter and fresher.
Hi from Germany, dearest Kristen! I‘ve watched several of your videos recentely and appreciate especially those tips you provide for small spaces. Since I’ve moved into a tiny, but lovely modern single-room studio appartement (I use to call it „my hotel-room“) I especially enjoyed every second of THIS video! Your advice to use larger pieces of wall art mixed with smaller ones and to place a tall plant together with a hometrainer (I do own one!) will be gamechangers to uplift the height of my place 🤗💛 THANK YOU!!! 💐👏
Great ideas. I have a wide open space LR, DR and kitchen all together. Having a terrible time figuring out how to get some horizontal space. Il looking into one of those tables that fold up into a piece of furniture when closed and opens up to seat 12. Then I would be able to open the LR to fit some horizontal surfaces in.
Hi Kristen. I am not brave enough with my design choices to go for high gloss paint but I do like the idea of using large wall art/gallery wall. I was sitting in my living room looking at my blank wall and imagining the possibilities. 😊
We use an IKEA bench as a coffee table in our kitchen (where we use what we supposed to be an eating area as a mini den). It's a great narrow wooden bench in a warm wood, which unfortunately was discontinued.
I don’t know why I watched this video, other than I enjoy watching your videos in general. The only small room in my 850 sq ft apartment is the kitchen (10x6). My bedroom is 13x14, but I only have four pieces of furniture (bed, dresser, vanity, small bookcase/nightstand). My L-shaped 16x12 lr w 10x6 dr has a workdesk, dr table/chairs, loveseat, two comfy chairs, two small end tables. I’m a “warm minimalist”, so getting my space to feel smaller w/out being cluttered is my goal.
I have a pool and a workout room that comes with my apartment, but I need these tips! First time moving out and don't know the best route to take for decorating after I get set up.
My painter husband would consider painting the house in high gloss as " Irreconcilable differences" on divorce papers 😂 He uses it for very specific items but not walls. I do have the luxury of getting walls and things repainted, if I am not happy with colour or dirt, 🙈 in exchange for his favourite dinner so it works for us.
Oh my god no no to gloss paint ,trends come and go ,but l have had a nightmare time removing gloss paint on walls , embrace the trend with matte paint 😊
I adore the lacquered walls! I'd only do it if I was ready to go the Fine Paints of Europe route and get pro skimcoating, spraying, sanding, and respraying to make it perfect. I'm old enough to remember when people slapped shiny paint on their walls if they had kids or just never wanted to paint again in their lifetimes - "You can wipe it off!" LOL. It wasn't good. I did do a high gloss blue paint on my front door - it's nice, but it is brush mark city. I didn't want to roll it on to avoid the stippling, but in hindsight, a foam roller might have been a better option.
I come from that era and while I never hated it, I think it looks nicer only on certain things and on perfect, unblemished walls and in a upper scale style decor. Mind you that I don't do flat paint but eggshell or even satin on walls or semi gloss on certain areas prone to premature damage and it s really a breeze to clean and the shine is not as prominent as you would think. The whole point of gloss is to make paint easier to clean among other features. I also have a blue door painted with glossier paint and the trick is really rolling it on with the foam or the velvet roller, no marks or stippling whatsoever.
@@vaderladyl I agree. I used Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace (very white) in Eggshell in my kitchen and I've been able to scrub off grease and spills, and it has no visible shine. I've even gone from semigloss down to Pearl finish on my trim and baseboards. It's durable and looks a lot more subtle.
You should do a "how to fill your large space/livingroom". I really struggling with our open livingroom, with a lots of windows. All I see is a lot of floor 😅
I'm not a fan of high gloss finishes especially on walls, I have a old home with plaster walls so I prefer matte of flat finish so the imperfections are not noticed. I like the folding furniture and hanging curtains from the ceilings and the other ideas you presented in the video
I'm sorry but as a nurse curtains hanging from the ceiling are total hospital vibes (shudder). Sign me up for the pretty room divider every day of the week.
Yes! That was my first thought too lol although the curtains do make for a great divider and privacy, there’s always going to be that link back to healthcare
The problem with painting walls with gloss is that it will emphasize any imperfections in your walls especially during the day when the sun hits it. I painted a room in satin once and it looked awful when the sun hit the walls.
No high gloss paint comes into my house on any wall. Anything above eggshell is too reflective. I don't appreciate reflection everywhere, it makes the place not at ease. Then again, I do like one well-placed large mirror a lot in my not too big living space. Especially when opposite of a window. That is enough to get me a lot more light in and the reflection is beautiful (trees from outside) and contained.
Absolutely no way on high gloss paint. The best way to make a small space look bigger is to reduce clutter and go minimalist. Large art pieces that draw your eye up are another favorite.
Not a fan of high-gloss paint. Semi-gloss is fine for kitchens, bathrooms, trim, etc. I can't imagine trying to watch tv, read, or sleep in a room with shiny walls. It's not relaxing at all.
Help me!!! I rent an old 70s townhouse and everything is wood. Doors, trim, cabinets, etc. I can't paint them unfortunately. Any tricks to make a house look better with Boring wood everywhere?
Tall vertical storage, large mirrors to mirror light from outside. You can do hanging plants paired with tall floor plants or plants on a ladder to bring the eye up. You can do a midcentury modern style with black trim, dark green vinyl wallpaper in one section, a hanging geometric pendant light and multifaceted tall lights. Round bright furniture and shaggy light large area rugs.
Hi! It would be much more motivating if we had to ride a bike to see the screen. :D So we would generate the electricity with the bike. I have ridden this bike before in Hungary.
Does anyone remember a few years ago (okay, maybe a decade ago, time flies...) when matte paint was all the rage in home decor? Now it's completely flipped and high-gloss is the way to go. I guess matte probably looks dated now.
i love the videos but i wish the photos were more “realistic”, everyday living, rather than what we usually see. I’m not saying no one watching this lives this lavishly, but since I don’t I’d like to see more realistic decor options 😊
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! I'm sharing my designer tips to make your small space feel and look larger!! I hope this gives you some ideas you can use in your home!!♥️🏡
Happy Sunday ❤
Happy Sunday!
I'm not finding the info about the bike? Please help?!
The high gloss paint is so beautiful 🤩
Can you please do a video on color palettes/choosing home colors so it looks cohesive and how to incorporate those colors throughout a room? Thank you!! Love your videos ☺️
The large miroir! I was already considering this for my studio in Paris but upon watching this I am convinced I need one!
*Balance* . I have a semi-open concept space. I may only entertain a few times per year, having a large dining table was important to me. Compared to the tiny table the previous owner had in the space, my large table fills the space and looks grand. I agree, form and function matter, don't be afraid to go BIG in small spaces. I love the bench as a coffee table. That is a great idea!
me too! I have nesting tables now that are kind of oldish, a skinny bench I never thought of!
Ooohhh high gloss on walls! The photos make that idea look amazing. I’ll have to think where I could incorporate it in my home. Love it!
It really looks amazing on the right setting and the proper substrate.

100%! Half of the stores she goes to we don't even have here. :)
2400 ft on the lot or all the floorspace ? I always ask myself that so sorry
I love the idea of curtain dividers. We living in the hotel with 2 kids and I did that and it makes sense. Thanks so much for sharing ❤
Ottomans are always fabulous for additional seating.
A wonderful tip for choosing paint type selections too, Kristen. 😀
Something I love about you is that you romanticize and find beauty and joy in the small and mundane moments of life 🥹 The content you put out there has a meaning and a purpose. The joy you have for the things you do and love just shines through and is such a pleasure to witness 🤍
I dont care for high gloss paint, I've gone to flat where ever I can in my home. It has a cozy softness that I prefer:)
Large mirrors, definitely a good tip!!
I worked in a hospital. Those curtain dividers brought me right back to that workspace, lol
Thought the same 😅
Thank you for all your videos. I just started following you bcs our house plans just got permitted. I have my work cut out for me! I really liked your 'know your design style' video.
Congratulations on your engagement!!! Love all of your videos!

Hi Kristin! Great video as always!

...As a previous Professional Painter ( interiors) I always recommended Semi gloss or Satin finish in kitchens.
Love the high gloss paint idea.
I'm going to school for interior design in the fall!! I love your videos!!
I have used a glossy deep hunter green in rooms in Ohio and now in Maryland I did it again and I absolutely love the look!

So good.All your tips 👍🏼👍🏼.
Want to try the the magnet one.
Always interested in small space decorating and transformation.

Loved your Example Pictures 🥰

Mirrors are an amazing tip! Thanks Kristen 👏🏼
Thanks for your expertise!
Hi! Thanks! I love color, I did get high gloss paint, I will next!
I was waiting for this video. I have a small space, and this was benefitial. Thanks Kristen.

Thank you, Kristen for the advice.
Oh my god ur skin is so like glass...plz share ur skincare or any tip for this kind of beautiful skin..TIA love from Pakistan ♥️
Definitely will hop on your ideas. We bought a cape cod with low ceilings and it’s a bit frustrating, especially with lighting.
I love light and bright 🌞
So many great ideas you helped me with some changes I need to do around my house
Fabulous video and such great tips and tricks. ❤

Awesome work - keep it up!
Great simple practical videos!

Love the high gloss paint in the guest toilet!
Oh my god no no to gloss paint ,trends come and go ,but l have had a nightmare time removing gloss paint on walls , embrace the trend with matte paint 😊
Thanks for another video!!!
Thanks for the ideas !
Love semi-gloss in all my rooms
👍
No to high gloss paint on walls. Yes, to multifunctional furniture! 😊
Love your videos. You are so knowledgeable
Great designing tips.
High gloss only for doors or trim, not walls!!! Lacquer ceilings!
Thanks for the great tips!😊
I like the bike too!
I’m your new subscriber and I really like your style. I’m so glad I found you! ❤️
Thank you for this so helpful!
Wow, your tips are soo good!
That bike is cool and ty for the great tips
Good morning!!! I love watching your videos

So much info. Tk u do much.
You should do a "how to fill your large space/livingroom". I really struggling with our open livingroom, with a lots of windows. All I see is a lot of floor 😅
Large scale furniture and several rugs.
Amazing! Thanks❤
Do you have links for stylish and affordable foldable desks that attach to the wall like the ones you showed in the video?
Never used high gloss finished in my home ever! Maybe used high gloss on my basement floor back in the day!
I see your point. Love the room deliver if I have the space. Hear about a different color for the curtain divider?
"Now any bed can be a death bed will some simple floor to ceiling curtains"
Agree, the curtain as a divider makes the room look like a bathroom or a hospital room. Apart from that I love her videos n tips.
Yes! That was my first thought too lol although the curtains do make for a great divider and privacy, there’s always going to be that link back to healthcare
Absolutely agree!!
Nice ideas. Thank you 😍
Back in the 60s we used bead curtains to share another room.
Very helpful.
Great video! Do you have links for the sleeper chairs you showed? Thanks!
Toll agree 👍. Keep up great work 👍. Lot's if love 💘♥..
Hi what is the plant called at 3:32 ? And do you hv a link?
I have a small home and this was a great video. I bought a large coffee table and I am regretting it.
The problem with painting walls with gloss is that it will emphasize any imperfections in your walls especially during the day when the sun hits it. I painted a room in satin once and it looked awful when the sun hit the walls.
Great Video!
I never like Ikea, but I however loves Home Goods.
👍Congratulations on your engagement!
You should have ideal smooth surfaces for a high gloss finish, otherwise it will show all imperfections of your walls, etc
Always great taste - except I don't like gloss...
Absolutely no way on high gloss paint. The best way to make a small space look bigger is to reduce clutter and go minimalist. Large art pieces that draw your eye up are another favorite.
Proper scale of furniture, large art on walls and no clutter will do the same widening effect.
I do not have time to listen about working out if I am interested in decor. I would have watched my workout and best piece for small places!!!!
I want to work on large mirror opposite a window and mixing small decor pieces with large pieces
Love your videos, but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with high gloss paint. It is just so tacky. A satin might be a better choice.
Depending on the substrate and the decor style it can look amazing.
I have to say I completely disagree on the high-gloss paint. Not only does it look really ugly, it also made all those spaces look like brothels..
You don't have to like it, but saying they looked like brothels is pretty much the most ridiculous comment I've heard today
To each their own.
Not a fan of high-gloss paint. Semi-gloss is fine for kitchens, bathrooms, trim, etc. I can't imagine trying to watch tv, read, or sleep in a room with shiny walls. It's not relaxing at all.
Nice video, thank you. It will be great, if you slowdown a little bit to make watching more relaxing
Help me!!! I rent an old 70s townhouse and everything is wood. Doors, trim, cabinets, etc. I can't paint them unfortunately. Any tricks to make a house look better with Boring wood everywhere?

Also light cognac colored leather furniture.
I think glossier paints look good in areas like the kitchen or bathroom, but I don’t think I’d use them in any other living area.
Nice bike! It is super expensive though.
Hi! It would be much more motivating if we had to ride a bike to see the screen. :D So we would generate the electricity with the bike. I have ridden this bike before in Hungary.

I think all sheens have a purpose and a style and are timeless.. I say use what you like. Decor industry is way too fickle to be taken seriously.
The fold out desk is so clutch
I love the look of high gloss , but thought high gloss kitchen cabinets were out of trend ?
I like lots of your ideas, but I would skip high gloss paint for my walls.
i love the videos but i wish the photos were more “realistic”, everyday living, rather than what we usually see. I’m not saying no one watching this lives this lavishly, but since I don’t I’d like to see more realistic decor options 😊
No to gloss paint and curtains hanging from the ceiling.
