Actually you support them by not allowing politicians to send them to fight for profit wars that have nothing to do with our safety. Yes I am aware of the verbal abuse perpetrated by the far left. And yes I am aware of the despicable comments that were made by Jane Fonda which I do not condone. Those occurrences not withstanding the protests needed to happen because just like Iraq, Vietnam was not America’s war. Our troops deserved better in both cases.
When I worked in the fields of the Pajaro Valley, in the 60s, we would get orders from the government and load a few trucks with produce. The crates were marked for Vietnam. My cousin Bobbie and I would pack magazines, cigarettes, and beer in between the vegetables we were picking mainly celery. We imagined our boys opening the crates and getting a smile on their faces never really knowing if the crates made it to Vietnam. When I was there, I remember seeing crates of produce similar to the ones we packed. Particularly the ones with the Pajaro Valley label. This trailer brings back so many memories and a tear thinking about all the brothers and sisters we left behind. Thank you Peter and Chickie for continuing to share our stories. 🙏💪🌍🌏🌎❤️🇺🇸🖖
My older served two tours of duty in the Vietnam conflict,oh I really hope Chick found him ,he LOVED BEER,sadly he passed away from lung cancer 13 years ago complicated by Agent Orange ,the substance use un the warfare there in Nam,what a great story .
Incredible book that almost reads like fiction because it is so implausible. His time in Saigon during the '68 Tet Offensive was amazing. As a Marine in VN during that time, I couldn't imagine roaming around I Corps without a weapon or a bunch of them. Incredibly naive or the biggest pair of balls on earth.
Huge WWII Vietnam movie buff. Greatest Beer Run Ever book turned to movie. Zac Effron plays Chiky. Glad Holloywood made movie on these fun guys.... salute to those 50,000 names on the wall. Was just listening to Scot McKenzie 's San Francisco 1968. America must always honour n respect their War dead n Vets. Hello from India 🇮🇳
That is awesome. I actually know one of the guys he delivered beer to - Rick Duggan. I worked with him in Manhattan. He was a supervisor at my job. Good guy. I wish he told us this story back then. It would have been great to hear from someone who was there. Chickie is an awesome friend, indeed.
I heard this story back in the mid 1990's on my buddies back porch, from a guy from their neighborhood. Tom Sarich, can't believe it's 2022 and it's going to be a movie.
Tom Collin’s went on to a career in the NYPD. I believe he was a Detective when he retired. I had the pleasure of working with him in the Street Crime Unit. He helped break me into the unit. A great man and a cops cop!
The best thing out of it is that they all made it back home and made it to old age and still friends having a good story to tell and laughing it while drinking beer
Not to take anything from this video, but I and 6 other MP's (218th MP Co,)were sent with a detachment to Calu and Khe Sanh in 71, and I actually made a couple of beer runs to Quang Tri PX by myself, about 30 miles as the crow flies, closer to 45-50 miles actual road miles. Top secret mission.
It was such a beautiful and memorable friendship, you guys are heroes. Your story is being created and presented. in a movie called The Greatest Beer Run Ever is scheduled to stream on Apple TV+ on September 30. 2022
I was also on an ammo ship heading to Viet Nam the same year Chickie was. Could he have been one of my shipmates? I dont know. It's strange because you'd think you would know everyone on board a relativity small ship on a 3 month journey, but that's not always the case. Do you know how I might get in touch with him? Is he on Facebook? If so, I cant find him. Thanks.
The level of balls that this man had to hop on a boat and bounce his way around vietnam while also pretending to be a CIA spook just to give his buddy bears is a level of brother hood I do not think we will ever see in a war setting.
This man is the greatest Bro in history
The saint of bros
I just finished watching the movie and it made me tear up. But this interview made me tear up even harder. Now those are REAL men.
I'm glad this is going to be a movie. This is how you show support to our troops.
Actually you support them by not allowing politicians to send them to fight for profit wars that have nothing to do with our safety. Yes I am aware of the verbal abuse perpetrated by the far left. Same here love Nam movies. I have still to watch last full measure. Hello from India 🇮🇳
Now that you've watched the movie I think you'll realise that's not how to support troops
the movie is up. when you watched it come back to this comment of yours. lol
@@antmagor the left makes too much money from war, they're funding 2 of them right now, that's why we need trump to get in office.
This is a real bro
