He won't drop past Montreal. Habs have shown big interest in Tij Iginla. Unless Calgary wins the lottery or makes a huge trade, he won't go to the Flames
The fact that Iginla is almost eligible for the 2025 draft and he had the season he had is absolutely impressive… the playoffs he’s having shows he can do it when it matters as well, He has all of the potential to be a really good player in my opinion… I remember when Brayden Point was slept on in his draft year because of his size and he didn’t really produce much in his draft year, But Point was a hard worker and coachable and now he’s one of the best players in the NHL… I’m not saying Iginla will be an amazing player, But the way he plays and the maturity in his game is going to translate well to the NHL level and in my opinion he has first line upside… If Iginla goes to a team like Montreal with a coach like Marty I believe they will get the most out of him and people will look back and say he was An amazing pick at 5, 6 or 7th overall… he plays a Modern Day Power Forward type game and at his full potential he could be a first line sniper power forward getting 30-40 goals 60-80 points… At his Floor potential I believe he would be an impact 3rd liner 20-25 goals 40-55 points… He’s going to be an NHL player in my opinion it’s just a matter of how good will he be… he could be a Superstar player not elite which would be the 90-100+ point players or he could be a solid NHL player… We shall see but in my opinion if i am Montreal im picking Iginla over Eiserman, Catton, Helenius… Lindstrom or Demidov are the only players I’m picking before Iginla… SURE catton is dynamic in the WHL but lots of what he does will not fly in the NHL and he wasn’t able to do anything in the playoffs and he’s smaller than Iginla, Montreal needs players 6’0 and up…
Guy is gonna end up in Montreal. Could honestly see them opting for him over Lindstrom at 5 (if both are still available). I could see it going: Celebrini, Demidov, Levshunov, Dickinson/Parekh. Which would leave Lindstrom and Iginla still available if Habs stay at 5.
Any team that gets him will be lucky and with him being the youngest in the draft, you can be patient with him. If he's not quite ready and you want him to spend some time to build up and touch up his game, you can give him a year. Also crazy thing is that in 2026, his brother, Joe, is eligible and he's got high expectations on him too. Jarome had a Hall of Fame career and yet, if Tig and Joe can live up to expectations then we might end up with two more in the family. Even Jade has been playing NCAA hockey.
I spoke to Craig Button at the Mullett a few days after Catton fought Iginla…at the time there was a much bigger gap in where they may get drafted…now they could go 5 and 6 overall…
I’m picking Iginla over Catton, Eiserman, Helenius and Demidov or Celebrini are not available to the Habs in my opinion unless they win the lottery… Lindstrom may be available because he’s not going to the U18s and he got hurt in the playoffs so that could be possible and he’s the only player I would pick over Iginla, BUT Lindstrom is having serious injury issues and im not sure Montreal wants to take that risk…. Iginla in my opinion is the best fit, 17 years old at the draft could still grow to 6’1, He’s 180+ pounds already, Amazing goal scoring instinct and scores goals crashing the net, One Tees, Snipes etc he can score from anywhere he’s one of the best all around goal scorers in this draft, Eiserman has an amazing shot but he does not go to the dirty areas it’s all perimeter shooting… Iginla scores anywhere on the ice, Iginla has shown he can be impactful in Key moments especially the playoffs and the Prospects game, He’s fast, Modern Day Power Forward and plays physical like a modern day power forward, Doesn’t rely heavily on his teammates which is a good sign that he has Star potential at the NHL level, Barley played with Andrew Cristall so his points and goals are not because of that he actually played with mediocre players this season, Iginla seems to have a solid head on his shoulders and seems to handle pressure well like his father, And that’s another factor HIS FATHER IS JEROME IGINLA! Tij will definitely know what it’s like to be and act like a pro and that’s important if you are going to play for the Montreal Canadiens or you’ll end up like Drouin which we do not want…. Tij Iginla in my opinion at 5th or 6th overall is the PERFECT pick for the Habs and to be honest I’m starting to think he should be the only pick at that spot…. I have seen Iginla 7 times in person this season and was blown away every time I saw him… my grandparents live in Kelowna and I see them before Christmas and I always watch Kelowna games each season while I’m there and he’s much more impressive in person… Iginla should be our pick and I like Lindstrom but I’m worried he will be injury prone like Kirby Dach and we do not need that… With Iginla he’s been healthy and has First line potential in my opinion…. His ceiling is first line potential and his floor is an impact 3rd liner, But with Marty being there I believe he will get the most out of Iginla… as you can tell I love this player and I hope Montreal takes him, He’s the type of player you win a Stanley cup with and that’s more important at the end of the day….
SO MUCH TALENT in front of him 1- Celebrini 2- Artyom Levshunov 3- Silayev 4- Cayden Lindstrom 5- Eiserman 6- Demidov 7- Catton 8- Parekh Elite prospect has him #13-14 on average. In my opinion, iginla isnt a top 10 pick but we'll see. Also, there re a lot of defensemen in the draft so they could mix things up a bit.
Iginla will be a better NHL player… Potential is higher for Iginla in my opinion and a safer pick… Eiserman definitely has the potential to be a good player but he could also be Oliver Wahlstrom 2.0 and the chances of that are high… Iginla Has the potential to be a first line modern day power forward sniper and his floor is a 3rd line impact player… Eiserman has Top 6 Upside but he also has COMPLETE BUST potential… Iginla has the same size and is younger and could still grow to 6’1, Iginla is just as fast if not faster, Iginla scores goals everywhere and can score in many different ways, Hard compete level which Eiserman just does not have and that will not fit in Montreal, Iginla also seems like a kid that will be able to handle pressure… In my opinion Iginlas game translates more to the NHL level than Eiserman’s game…
I’ve got a feeling he’s gonna be a bust. I feel like his name has really been boosting him on draft boards, and I get there is incredible talent, it takes the right to draft these types of players like Tij.
If by bust you mean that he will not have a career as great as his father's, then I totally agree. However, I think that Tij will be a good NHL player, though probably not a superstar or all-star, but he can potentially be a star or semi-star.
I think you're wrong but either way, it's much much too early to make these types of comments. Tons of clueless people said Juraj Slafkovsky was a bust last year when the kid was only 18 years old. Fast forward just one year later and Slaf looks like he is going to be a really good player.

In a perfect world, Calgary will be able to draft him or trade up to draft him depending on the spot the lottery land them in

It would be hilarious if Calgary won the lottery and pick him 1st😅
New flames captain? could spark so much if the flames got him

He's going to be a Hab. Precisely because of his mind.
Going to miss him in Kelowna
He gonna look great in montreal
