Do you have an office in Manchester
Great video but you never gave the height to the valve from floor.
I am about to fit an almost identical shower, I did not fully understand the instructions so searched online for a video, as usual your face appeared and showed me everything I need to do a first class job, nice one James!
Wooh a wonderful professional let me say that it is so fantastic that after watching I also installed my first shower coz am also a water technician...God bless u en continue posting such a teaching videos
Hi after watching this bought one of these and after a year it still out performs my expectations. the best shower experience ever and the install after watching this was a breeze thanks for all the little tips so helpful especially the remote valves once again thanks for posting
Thanks for all your videos! Just installed my bathroom after plenty of your tutorials on repeat. Safe to say a week in and no leaks and one very happy girlfriend! Love the videos. Needless to say I'm still watching even though I don't intend on touching anymore plumbing for another few years
No worries John, glad to help you out!
Hope you all enjoy guys!!!
Is Colin Furze your big brother?
A deep, big, fat thank you :) ... From a more confident DIY :)
hahahahahaha
do you have a link for where i can buy one of these beauties...? needed in my extension, work for which starts in a few weeks. love the video like always.
Can you advise me please! Im not a plumber. I have a gravity feed system and I have a standard electric shower in main bathroom already. I dont want to put in another electric shower in unsuite as I would have to ripp walls apart to get cables in and also put in an interlock switch (costly) at fuse board to isolate which shower is operational and my budget is tight as it is. The hotpress/hot water cylinder is right behind the unsuite and would be easy to run in hot and cold pipes to fit a mixer shower. Ive seen cheap enough ones for around hundred to hundred and fifty which look alright. What kind of flow rate or pressure would I get from standard gravity feed system in a 3 bedroom house, I was also think about fitting a pump later too if pressure is to low. My question is this. What kind of pressure rating shower do I have to buy and keep in mind I will fit a pump later if pressure not satisfactory when I have more money. Or, can I buy any mixer shower and still fit a pump later. I hope that made sense!
I'm a licensed plumber in Boston ma, USA. Love the videos. Uk plumbing is wildly different.
I like your work bro and the way you demonstrate how the job must be done is very very clear and simple thanks .
This video is brilliant.
Today I bought exactly this model and I’ve studied the instructions and was totally baffled.
Although they show the brass coloured skeleton brackets in the section showing what’s supplied they don’t show them anywhere in the instructions.
I strongly suggest you contact Aquilisa and offer to rewrite their instructions.
Well done you
Thanks a million.
How can anyone give this a thumbs down? Brilliant James, thanks for great vids and advice, subscribed 😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video James, do you have a video showing the initial 1st fix of the piping?
Cant you do a video of you fitting a totally new bathroom with bath and shower from scrach?
Fitting these later after having dramas with the cranked ones... cheers for the info...
Absolutely fabulous video , great fun watching too , never a dull second lol 😂, I wish you years of success bud
Cheers! Hope it helped you install that shower! If you get a sec join the *LIVE STREAM TONIGHT at 6:30pm* - *_Open to all_* Bang the🔔too! ruclips.net/video/TRJJjTkdENw/видео.html
Jimbo, I have bought this shower today off the back of this video!Your latest video showing how to plumb the shower tray in your house looked straightforward as you had access from underneath. can you do a video on doing it from above please. I don't have a clue which way my joist run or where they are as my modern house uses fibre boards rather than old fashion floor boards. Hold Tight!
I'm a simple man. I see a plumberparts video upload. I click.
Ha! Thanks man....loads more to come!
Lovely professional tutorial well done thank you 🙏
I like a baking hot shower 😁 thank you for this and other videos. Did my bathroom using a number of your vids 👍. Top videos
It's safest to tighten up the compression joint before putting in the screws as if the grip on the backplate slips when you tighten up there's a real danger of cracking the tiles. If the fitting is slight twisted, then it's easy enough to rotate if backwards a little until it lines up with the screw holes. Putting silicon sealant into those screw holes is certainly essential.
Pl8 behind the wall is my best friend with these.
excellent
Now I am going to change my thermostatic shower bar
Cheers mate!.. You made it look easy pizzy lemon squeeze!.. I'm a sparky & I do my own plumbing at home thanks to you.. Keep it up mate 🏆
No worries Ali, glad to help mate!
Awesome video as a plumber student I recommend to watch this "hold tight " man...
Now I see this after installing mine. I live in a bungalow so all pipes come down from the attic. I have 7 water pipes going into the bathroom, two for the shower like this one, two for a hand held near the sink (wife wanted a handheld so she can do her hair without getting the shower) two to the sink and one to the cistern. All these run off a hot and cold manifold I made and installed in the attic each with its own cut off valve. All done in continuous plastic pipe because I'm a novice and lazy git and like push fit. Still sorting the bathroom just got to install a flipper on the end of the screen and tank the area outside the end of the shower.
I go with the idea of not going mental with the tightening up, I did get a leak because my tails were too long and then like a numpty found that I had installed the hot and cold pipes back to front, quick trip in the attic, lock off the valves and taps then swap the pipes round. Easy!
Nice one, Nev! Often over-tightening can cause more problems.
Hi James , can you do a video on how to take out a bath and convert to a shower .
I'll add it to the list!
plumberparts sweet like chocolate 🍫
This.
@@plumberparts is the video planned for the future or off the cards?
Are we still waiting or has it been published?
straight neat work , explanations were superb too thanks
Loving your videos,i know im old school and you don,t want bosswhite or similar in the the mixer ,but we always did it on compression fittings everytime,no dry joints ever, how say you .
Nice video James
Wish we had that here in the states!
What's behind the tiles and board? Are the pipes fixed to a timber frame inside? Or are they lose and raw plugs used?
I love a baking hot shower. I aim to look like a lobster when I come out especially in winter.
Top video mate. Hold tight! Do you have a video on how to install the eccentric elbows or advice? My shower valves are 140mm so I can’t use the nice chrome ones and I’m replacing the shower unit with existing holes in the tiles at 140mm.
How easy is it to replace a pinch grip on the Mida shower? Do you loosen the hex head bolt and the nut on the pipe? Once both are loose, how easy is it to remove the pipe to repalce the pinch grip?
You got push fit in there for the movement on close inspection can see it through the hole ...
Cool video. What is the drill bit you're using for the tile holes. You made it look too easy.
Great video. Have you ever had to remove an old one and put a new 9ne where the old holes cannot be used? How do fill the old holes?
Thanks so much this really helped
No worries Paul. Glad it helped you out mate!
*Don't miss this week's live stream* bang the notification bell too! ruclips.net/video/TRJJjTkdENw/видео.html
No ptfe tape on the olive??
He is bonkers. Really good informative videos though.
Thanks for the great video. Excuse the rookie question but I have my water coming down in polypipes, is it OK to plumb the shower taps straight onto these or would you recommend changing to copper pipes?
This is handy, as it can take a while to run a bath.
Nice video 👍🏻 I have this shower and my pinch grip exploded. To replace am I going to have to turn the water off and disassemble the vertical riser?
Can you show how to turn off the hot water in a gravity fed system to complete this job. Thanks
HaHa, caught you.
You gave us a little technique, by using the end of a screwdriver so you don't damage the tiles 5:51
Then you hit the rawl plug with the hammer head 10:08 and no screwdriver head in sight.
Would've been nice to have included a clip of the bar mitzvah.
I got aquaLisa colt and it drips is it straight forward to replace the cartridge? Great video I’m holding tight !
Great video, you make it look so easy. I am planning to fit a deck mounted version, shower or taps for bath and discovered there is a TMV on the hot feed. Does this need to be removed?
Firstly i'd like to say great video, very informative. Just come for a bit of advice really. What do you do if the holes for the pipe coming out of the wall are quite large so when you go to fix the bracket onto the wall the tiles just end up cracking and chipping away? Yes he was a shit tiler...
Great video! However, I saw no reference to the electronic control box which forms part of my Aqualisa shower and resides in the loft. Does the Midas shower have an electronic control box and, if so, how do you instal it?
I have one of these Midas showers in my house for the last year. There's no electricals at all with our model. Just works off the gravity feed
Thanks for your comment mate BUT you have a different model (I'm guessing a Quartz or 'Q') This is a Midas and is a traditional bar mixer with no electrics.
Always useful info
It's good you put isolation valves everywhere...but sometimes it's the isolation valves themselves that leak! What make do you use?
I usually use lever valves where possible as they're less likely to leak.
plumberparts yea I agree. Do they make full bore isolation valves or full bore service valves, with the same internal mechanism as a lever valve? Just out of interest, why are lever valves less likely to leak, compared to isolation valves?
I’ve just done exactly this however I had the plastic pipes instead of copper and there’s a very small drop of water coming from the cold pipe, I’m assume between the olive and the shower mount, am I doing something wrong? I’ve also got a plastic insert in the pipe.
Good job
Nice tiles. prefer the non concealed showers. Nice shower. I suppose they have the non-return valves?
Yes mate built in, that's what I pressed when the pressure came out!
What would you do if the centres were off?
How to take off wall plates? Olive is sitting on joint compound...
hi James great job can you use plastic pipes intead of copper?
many thanks
Yes you can!
@@plumberparts many thanks james keep up the good work
Can you use chrome 15mm radiator pipes to connect with a speedfit connector?
Great Vids James! What’s the difference between the Midas 110 and 220? Going to fit one of these bad boys soon.
Hi, Had our bathroom done about two years ago by a 'professional' plumber! The shower has never really worked properly either too hot or too cold. We decided to take James's RUclips advice and get an Aqualisa AQ150 shower and plumb it in ourselves. With the helpful advice on RUclips this went smoothly...thank you. I did notice, however, that the plumber wasn't as careful when levelling the pipes as James was so they are slightly wonky. I was able to install the shower anyway. But we have a problem...he has also put the cold on the left and the hot on the right. Is there anyway to sort this out???? HELP!!!! No wonder the old shower didn’t work properly for two years!
Are the hot and cold pipes always the same width apart as we just want change our shower please ?
Thanks bro
How high above the tray did you install the piping?
Very entertaining video, just a question regarding the fast fix systems someone mine able to help me with. I’m wanting to fit a Grohe mixer valve which is a 3/4” male nut is that the industry standard, so all these fix kits are compatible?
Hope someone can help as I don’t want to order the wrong valve !
👍🏻
I have bought one of these and have damaged the olive that comes with it, can I just use any olive instead ?
Great vid. We have the same fitted with good pressure on the cold but useless on the hot. The airing cupboard on the landing is on the same level ?
Jazzshampoo Jazzshampoo switch to an unvented tank; your hot will then be at mains pressure.
Agree!
Hi mate, was wondering what your thoughts were on compression fittings as I'm plumbing in a new shower. New to the copper pipework world. Watch a lot of videos of people applying tape etc to the olive. Or should you just nip these things up without? Was going to fit all my pipework elbows etc and give it a water test prior to fitting my dry wall.
Any tips would be appreciated....keep up the great work with Utube there brilliant.
Cheers
Great vid. Hey my system was changed from a gravity to combi. I have bought and fitted a new cartridge but there is still the cold water flow regulator required. Where does that go in the system do I just popit in the cold pipe feed?
I have a combI boiler and want to change the bar mixer or just the valve as im not getting any hot water come through. Do I have just one water supply that needs to be turned off whilst doing the job or is there a hot water supply separately ?
you leave a bit of play on the 15mm then for the 150 so it goes on pukker pies , tidy.
How do you switch on the hand shower
This is exactly like mine. But unfortunately it stopped working. No water comes out. It started with low-pressure until completely none. I need mine fixin 😢
Pmsl 😂. I've always wanted to do that after a full shower install. Well, you've got to check the tray and waste doesn't leak! lol 😂
Ha! Cheers mate....I've never done it either! Worst thing was I got called out that night to a boiler and had to go commando!
plumberparts you @ Chelsea PHEX in Nov?
Yes mate I'll be there. We'll be upstairs again with the Graham lot....avoiding the 'celebs' of plumbing downstairs!
Great video. Looking at the spec and the manufacturers say you need a minimum 1 bar of pressure for the drencher head. Is this just referring to cold water pressure, or do I need to take the hot water pressure into account? The house has a combi boiler with a max 9 litres / min flow rate. I measured a cold tap as having 15 litres / min flow rate. I think the system probably isn't good enough for the drencher head. What do you think? I need to go and buy a pressure meter, but I could do with some guidance.
I have a shower like that the water out of the smaller shower the water that comes out keeps losing water pressure nearly turns off while using the one over head water pressure is steady what could be the problem.
Why are my projects never as easy as this. I am replacing a mixer valve. The 15mm copper pipes are connected in a plasterboard cavity. They are just about 150mm centres. The house builders contractor has destroyed a fair amount of the plaster board behind the tiles when fitting the mixer valve. Hence I will have to fit the new mounting brackets at an angle but as far a I can see this does not matter as they will be covered. I will have to make a couple of plates to go in front of the mounting brackets with screw holes to provide additional/alternative screw fixings so my screws can go were the plasterboard exists. Also I will need to get the existing olives off without a puller and without damaging the pipe. I will be without water if it does not work out :-(.
hello mate quick question what if your pipe is not a 15mm will it still fit in the bus adaptor? my pipe says half inch but am not sure if that is 22mm or 15mm lol
Also might want to add ; Personally I like to solder up elbows for the copper hot/cold feed, and clip them behind the tiled wall so A) they are rigid and B)when I try to faff with the pipe if there is a problem - its held in place instead of spinning as if it was in a pushfit/hep fitting !
Each to their own dude. I use your method above for shower head outlets etc...
Great job as usual
When installing a mains fed electric shower is it ok to just t off mains going into the water tank 👍
The ending reminds me of Jacob and I on that Swimming pool job! LOL!! Great instructional video! Can see the education department using this 🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Cheers dude! The one after this next week is even better, all about lifting condensate if your boiler is in a basement or summink!
And I do remember that vid....might make it into the halloween BEAST!
Nice!
Being it’s an offset riser to the drencher head , did you measure it so that riser is central to the shower or the mixer itself ?
What sort of pressure do you need for this showers? I have a vented gravity system and I’m not convinced it would have enough. What options are there to boost the pressure? I have used a shower with a pump attached before and thought it was poor at best, temperatures were hard to get etc.
They make a different version for gravity fed or pressurised. So they accomodate any system you have, just make sure you buy the right one!
Hi can someone answer this question I have an old Mira shower would the centres for the pipes would be same if I was replacing to a shower similar to this one
Where can I get an adjustable wrench like that 😎
Could you tell me what size hole cutter i need for 15mm pipe through ceramic tile
Ahh imagine cutting that pipe just a little short at the beginning nightmare lol
Hi I've got a dripping shower. The actual shower head is above and dripping and the control dial is hand level. They are integrated into the shower wall. As it was probably fitted around 1990s age... Could you please let me know where I'd find the washer.
Would it be behind the shower head or would it be behind actual shower control ? Many thanks Andy.
Could you tell me if the "Aqualisa Midas will run off a "Worchester Greenstar 28i junior" combi boiler. I have a flow rate of 12 litres per minute on the cold water tap in the kitchen, the shower will be located upstairs. Cheers
Hi James, should you avoid using Boss White or PTFE on shower mixer valves? as I see in the video you didn’t need to use any
Jamie, great channel love the videos, can I ask what isolation valves you used, i.e. gate valves or fullbore iso-valves. Cheers.
What’s the minimum water pressure you would advise for this? Thank you james
Hi James is there any particular set hight to have the thermostatic bar up from a bath?
Great Job James, i fitted a Grohe eqv. this looks nicer.
I'm completely sold on this shower but when I went to look at the price there was so many different options to choose from. Which model is this please and would you say the more expensive the better the shower in this range? I have a combi boiler with no pressure problems, thanks.
Hmmm. Best talk to Aqualisa technical, they'e really helpful and actually answer the phone!
Cheers
Hey could you link where I can buy that shower head?
Hey how high from the bath tubs floor do you install shower mixer bracket to accommodate the shower.
I can't stop laughing,you are hilarious!!!!!!!
Great 👍
I don’t have the best water pressure, would this type of shower still work well
Can this shower units be used with combi boiler? And what sort of water pressure do you need ? Ie 30kw combi with 12lpm?. Will that ne enough to give a power shower feel?
