I am literally going through this right now!! I just took my extensions out two days ago and I have never felt worse about myself! My hair is gone.. it is SOOO THIN it just looks awful and my first insitinct was to put them back in because as a woman your hair is such a huge part of you and now I am soo insecure about my hair 😭😭 I wish I knew before what extensions did to your hair. Thank you for sharing so I know I’m not the only one.
Girl I just started doing tape on extensions for the first time in may… after years of highlights… my hair dresser takes them out every 5 weeks to move them up and this past time a few days ago she did….. and my hair looked so thin when they were removed. I couldn’t look in the mirror or put my hair in a bun without freaking out internally before she put the tapes back in. I think I’m going to be addicted to the look of extensions and now I’m worried once I take them out for good I’ll have no hair or length. I’m so scared
Im so humbled an overwhelmed that you share this story with us! It was a horrible time for you, so I appreciate that you want us to be careful and share your experiences with us. Xxx
I’ve just had an LA weave removed. Had it in for 3 months because of lockdown and spent all day crying yesterday today because my hair is so thin, brittle and I swear I’ve lost some length too. My hair wasn’t coloured and was really healthy before, I just wanted length. I’m absolutely devastated and feel so self conscious 😭
Awww girl you’ll stop when you don’t have enough hair for the extensions to hold onto!😞I LOVED mine also and when I took them out I absolutely HATED my hair !!!! But hey totally regret the money and irreversible damage !
I just had tape ins done and night 2 my scalp felt like it was severely on fire, I had to remove them this morning. I felt like I was stripping my confidence with each one I removed. Thank you for your video, we Women really need to love ourselves more. 🙏❤️
I appreciate this video very much because it is an excellent example of what not to do when considering extensions! You can't wear one type of hair style or treatment continuously, you can't go to a bad hairdresser and have excellent long term results, you can't overuse extensions without switching it up a bit and allowing your hair to experience a break from the technique, you have to know how to care for your hair while wearing extensions and most of all, you have to be familiar with what your hair can do! If you have fine stringy hair you have to be careful about how much weight is being applied to your strands. Anything and I do mean anything that is overdone will result in a negative outcome! This video is an extreme example of using and abusing extensions. I have had extensions for years and it has grown my hair very long. I am now getting ready to try i-tips for the first time and will remove them at any sign of trouble. When we say all extensions are bad we are being overly negative. I just want to offer an alternative perspective.
Brilliant video. I'm at the stage of trying to recover my hair and I think the main part in someone's journey is to start feeling comfortable in your own hair and knowing how much you need to take care of it. I've gotten rid of all extensions, stopping my bond extensions now and just trying to get my hair back!
I totally am going thru the same thing. I am struggling with my extensions and noone to remove them. I have removed several. Some came out easily and others ripped hair out. I have bald spots and want to cry with the thought of all them out. My hair will be shoulder length and not fully a bob so its choppy. I am so sad about my hair.
I’ve had bonded extensions a few times over the last couple years and my hair is totally destroyed. This last year I had two sets in back to back and just had them taken out about a week ago and I look like I have no hair. Ironically I was never all that self conscious about my fine hair but just wanted thicker, longer hair. Now every time I look in the mirror I want to cry. I think I might also try not using heat and just clipping it up - it grows so slowly I need to do everything possible to get it back to where it was.
I used to wear hair extensions every day for about 7 hairs and it made.my hair fall out and prevented it from growing. It damages your hair if you constantly wear them everyday for years but it won't do any harm if you wear them sometimes for special occasions. It took forever for.me to grow my hair out.
Clips ins made me bald, I wore them through my teenage years and I still even 15 years later have permanent bald spots where my clips were when I was younger. I have worn nano rings for about 5 years now and they have saved my hair. Every time I have them maintained (every 8 weeks) and have them removed, my real hair has grown more and more. I had hair above my shoulders when I started and now my real hair is 25 inches down my back and is healthier than ever. I would never have anything with glue or anything heavy like clip ins in my hair, but the nanos have allowed me to keep my super long locks whilst my hair underneath continues to grow and is actually protected by the nanos wrapped around it. Recommend 100% for those who want extensions but don't want to damage their own hair ❤️
I had nanos for only 7 months and they destroyed my hair and i kept to my maintenance appts terrifies me how my hair would have looked it i hadnt taken them out before now
Can i ask when you say clip ins made you have bald patches, how often was you wearing them? Ive had my hair extentions removed for 6 months now. Took them out in lockdown and has made me so insecure how thin and weak my hair is. I want to stay away from them but only out them in on occasions. Was you wearing them comstantly for them to cause that damage??
I’m going through this right now! I got easilocks and they ruined my hair so went for great lengths and my hair is shorter than ever. I’m now at the point where I know I need to get these out and start again. I’m absolutely devastated as well because there really wasn’t anything wrong with my hair before I just wanted it longer. I’m dreading them coming out!
@@katie-ann4970 Also, use buy Olaplex. It is the best treatment for your hair. Put in on your hair and let it sit. Just be patient, i know its hard but its what is needed.
@@joanneyelich8976 JUST fyi. - I used their product: and it made my hair snap and fall outl. Thousands of others have had similar experiences. HOWEVER, it does work for some. and for that, and I am happy! So keep doing what's workig for you - just watch out of the hair feeling like straw, weird frizz, untamable zig zag hair, etc. I
Ive never been one of those people who are blessed with thick hair, my hair is so fine and naturally very curly which I stupidly straightened from the age of 14. I started to wear clip in extensions from the age of 15, had glue ins at the age of 17 which totally ruined my hair, getting them out is just the worst thing EVER! I now have the most amazing hairdresser and I have a "Micro Weft" which is extensions but they have minimal damage on the hair, it has improved and grown so much since I've been having them. I can't bear my hair without extensions but I am glad I have found a good hairdresser and technique that is not ruining my hair! Still nowhere near being able to go without them though - like you say, it is a shield xxx
The key is a great stylist and them educating you on how to take care of them. My clients don't have damaged hair. So sorry that you went through this. Main key is education.
Thanks for sharing your story. I had keratin bonded extensions in for 2 months and just took them out myself the other day (due to lockdown). I put them in as I was trying to grow out my own hair and thought they would get me through the awkward growing out stage. They have grown a little but my hair is so wispy and thin. When I compare it to photos before I got the extensions in, it’s clear to see how much thinner and lifeless it is now. I’ve been using Olaplex the last few days to build it back up so I’m hoping over the next few months it will strengthen. I’m also going to go brown from blonde when hair salons reopen (in Ireland) as I think highlights really thin my hair. Needless to say, I will never be getting extensions again! X
Short hair is awesome. Honestly, it's amazing how much we tolerate when it comes to romantic relationships. I would like to think I'd dump my hypothetical boyfriend for shaming me for my hair but who knows. I will reiterate that short hair is sexy :)
Thank you for sharing this experience. I’ve been doing research into getting my extensions and becoming a bit obsessed with the idea but what you’ve highlighted about being addicted etc has really made me think twice - I feel like I’m already addicted to the idea and I haven’t even purchased them yet. It’s an unrealistic standard women can’t and shouldn’t have to meet.
it must be tough getting them out all In one time, bc we do get addicted to the feeling of more hair and then boom all gone. since its covid lockdown time I've been taking a few out like maybe 10 per week at a time so I have time to adjust to the shock of not having them.
@@julievanderlaan5153 girl I just started doing tape ins (first time ever doing any sort of extension) in May and now just 3 months later my hair looks and feels so much thinner when my stylist takes them out to move them up. I can’t even look in the mirror… I feared this would happen. She swears it’s mental but I know how my hair looked before the tapes. My problem is that now I’m addicted to the look and feel of extensions. My hair is heavily highlighted btw… been doing that for a couple years. Definitely didn’t help
I just found your video because I'm at a loss as to what to do! I also wore clip ins for a long time because my natural hair was medium-long, but thin so I always felt self conscious that the clips ins would show so about 10 weeks ago I went and got tape ins put in by my hair stylist of over 2 years. I LOVED them but I did notice that every time I brushed them, which I did multiple times a day to avoid that knotting and matting, I felt like SO much hair was falling out. I just assumed that because I previously was quite a shedder, that with the extensions there would obviously be more shedding. I got them taken out so they could be re-taped, washed and toned, and then reinstalled a week later. However when I got home I realized I was missing about 3" of length and my hair is so much thinner! Towards the bottoms it looks like there's literally 20 strands around my entire head. I cried for days. went out and ordered the entire Olaplex line, collagen, biotin, etc. I wear my hair up everyday because I feel so self conscious with it down. Although I loved the extensions, it's not worth it in my opinion. Just go with what God gave you.
I think women in general, want volume, extensions help, but can be damaging if not used properly. I stay away from them and embrace what I have. Thanks for sharing
Yup I bought myself foxylox clip in 18” hair extensions because I felt like I really wanted long hair while my real hair grew out. And it is now 2019 and my hair is about one inch longer (which is NOTHING in two years) and literally the thinnest most brittle hair I have EVER had in my life. And I’m finally ditching them and taking the HUGE confidence hit in order to have my real hair freaking back again and I had to cut my hair to shoulder length last week and I’m having to do castor oil treatments like every other day (which by the way is THE holy grail of hair products that I have found) and it was the biggest mistake ever because it was indeed an addiction. And it would be a lot easier if I didn’t have two beauty queen models for sisters with long thick hair to stand next by for the next two years so that’s what causes the confidence hit for me but it HAS to be done. It has to. I actually am glad I figured this out now so I will never be wondering about it ever again and I can give many girls with short hair advice NOT to wear hair extensions like me. It’s more than ok to wear them like a few times a month but NOT every day. And I never slept with them in once either. It’s just a shame that google says they don’t damage your hair at all because they do.
Thanks a lot for your honest talk about hair extensions, I was just thinking to have it done to get more volume but after watching your video I have a change of mind, thanks again
Don't do it. No matter how tempting. Its instant gratification but they rip your hair out from sleeping, trying to put it in a pony and the removal rips it out as well. Take Biotin, lots of Biotin. Dont be tempted by the Devil.
just took out my matted tape in extensions and feel very bare... 😣 But they were beyond repair. And my hair is really fine compared to what it was before I got my tape ins. I am never getting them again. Flip in extensions for me till it grows back.
I asked my stylist and many other stylists if tape ins are safe and they’d all tell me they’re the safest, except one person who told me to use halo extensions since they’re best. I didn’t listen to her and got tape ins because I wanted to wake up with long hair... I took my chance and I’m regretting it bad! Despite being reassured that it’s safe I barely have half the hair I used to. Keep in mind I had very thick hair in fact I would get them textured because I couldn’t style with so much weight in there. When it was time to remove them, I used the adhesive remover which was honestly very gentle and the just glided right off. I removed them myself because I didn’t want to sit a whole hour with the stylist for this plus being a cosmetologist I knew exactly how to do it. But my Hair is very thin now. Sadly, it also grows very slow. I want to advise all the ladies to please invest in a good set of halo extensions they are by far the best thing you can do for yourself. I only got tape ins for length, not thickness and I traded up something good 😭 there are so many videos on how you can convert your clip ins to halos on RUclips, or you can just buy them. Good luck
Like you, I’ve always had somewhat fine , thinner hair, but still pretty, and it was able to grow long as a teenager, just was on the finer side. I started wearing extensions at around 16-17 years old. First glue ins, that completely destroyed my hair, then clips ins, then micro-beaded, which were also my favorite and looked beautiful! However. I didn’t take them out every 6 months to give my hair a break, nor did I get then moved up as often as I should have. So a lot of this is my mistake. I had them in for almost 3 years. I was horrified when they took them out, and again, caved, and got tape ins after hearing how “non damaging” they are. They definitely damaged my hair further, however, my hair was is terrible condition before hand as well, just wish the hair dressers would have been honest with me after taking one look at me and told me “NO”. After those were taken out. Again, I couldn’t except my hair at the state that it was. So, I got fusion hair extensions at one of the TOP salons in the city, I was told my hair would be fine and they were similar to the beads I had before; what I had previously were dream catcher hair extensions. These extensions couldn’t even hold for a week in my hair, they all started slipping out and breaking off. My scalp was so red, and sore after this, and although it killed my pride to do this, I went to a wig store and purchased a topper. I really hated how unnatural it looked and felt though in comparison to my bio hair. I never minded my hair being thin and fine. I just hated how thin and fine it eventually got. And how wispy and broken it was to the point where it wouldn’t even grow. I stopped wearing the topper, got a halo. I also really disliked how thick and course it was compared to my incredibly thin hair. Even after getting it thinned out. It looked unnatural. I knew this was the only way to help my hair heal though. So I wore the halo for a little over a year, and the topper for about a month, didn’t see too much of a real change at all, so I then caved again and got tape ins again, but only for short time. About 6 months, then went back to the halo. I did also see a hair specialist about 2 years ago and he didn’t think I had traction alopecia. He just assumed my hair was extremely thin and fine. I told him that it wasn’t ever like this before the use of extensions, he then assumed that I had a vitamin deficiency, so he gave my paper work for a blood test. Everything came back normal. I also have taken a full thyroid panel blood test including hormone levels by an endocrinologist. Everything also came back fine. It’s now been a little over a year that I have not had any type of permanent hair extensions, I have been eating extremely healthily for 2 years, use heat very minimally, use organic shampoo, take nutrafol, sleep on satin pillow case, and even use a laser hair cap, and wear clips ins or a halo very seldom and for only 8 hr periods, tops, I never sleep in the clip ins anymore. (I used to sleep in them everyday and also never left the house with them). I also got my hair cut very short, although it was already very short due to all the breakage, and I now am getting it trimmed every 6-8 weeks, and even though it looks slightly healthier. I am getting discouraged..anytime I get any length going, it still looks so terrible and wispy, like it can’t ever grow long again. I don’t know how many times I’m going to have to cut it short, just for when it finally starts growing again, it’s still so wispy and fine that it looks terrible down. I’m starting to think I may never be able to grow it long again like I used to, and my family keeps telling me I just may not have the same hair ever again I had when I was a teen, but I really hope that’s not the case, especially since I’m only 28 years old with no medical conditions :/ And you ended up with GORGEOUS hair in the end, is this give me hope. I just really hope this can be my future as well if I keep it up. ❤️ Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 Sorry for the huge long story there, but it’s so nice to find someone FINALLY to relate to that had a similar problem and story with hair extensions, since you ALWAYS hear the opposite, where people’s hair was completely fine and, or, actually grew longer with them in. Not saying that what those people are saying isn’t true, for them, just everybody’s hair is different, and I truly believe some hair cannot handle hair extensions without at least SOME sort of damage. My question for you is, and hopefully you get the time to respond or even see this, how long did this take for you to get your hair to where it’s at now after stopping the extensions? As I said before, any time I seem to get any length at all, I have to continue to cut it off due to how fine and wispy it looks. So I’m just getting worried it may never turn out like it once was. and am thinking about maybe just resorting back to permanent extensions if it doesn’t get better..
Wow, you have been through it. Perhaps you could wear a cute bob or lob or shoulder grazing blunt cut and stay away from the extra hair. These cuts look very flattering on thin hair. Long hair isn't everything. Perhaps you could focus that energy on having a strong body or a strong mind. Lots of love💘
Thank you for sharing. I am a hairstylist but never deal with hair extensions too much. And haven’t really heard the negative side of hair extensions. I was considering getting some in because age does a number to your hair and you just mourn the hair you once had. But I think I will just stick with my natural. So glad I watched your video. 🙂
I have trichotillomania. If I don't wear hair extensions, I will pull all of my hair out strand by strand. I can't just stop. That's like telling someone to stop breathing. The only thing that would help is medication drs will not prescribe to anyone due to the abuse of it. So I have to wear extensions to stop myself from pulling my real hair out. Instead I pull out the extensions, strand by strand.
I trained In 4 methods of hair extensions, I do not even do bonded/glue in hair extensions anymore as I do agree they damage your hair. They shouldn't be burnt out they should be sprayed with acetone and crushed with a tool to break up the bond and then they slid out (is still not the best for the hair). I only do nano rings, la weave and micro rings, all need to be maintained every 6-8 weeks to ensure no damage. None of my clients have damage if they follow the aftercare. Just so people are not scared of hair extensions 😘😘
I have hand tied extensions and I have zero fall out, no bald spots. If you have bald spots from extensions then it is 1. Application 2. Maintenance. My extension service is expensive but, you get what you pay for.
Used to use clip in hair extensions all the time even to the point where i would sleep in them! Ive gone two years without and the difference is amazing. My hair has grown so much with the help of coconut oil and is much healthier! I still have the odd section of hair at the front thats thinner but hopefully after time!
I've had hair extensions for ten years, the bonded ones. I've never had Matts. I'm ready to take these out since the last time I got them redone my real hair looked pretty decent and short hair is making a comeback! I also love having the long hair and kind of feel like I'll feel "ugly" without them, but I know I need to make the change and I look forward to scrubbing my scalp! Lol good luck with your journey and thank you for sharing, you look great.
My hair gets so knotty and I had tape in hair extensions and even though I was doing everything reccomended to help keep them healthy they did the same thing as your and just ended up matted! Luckily I only had to cut a few out which are now growing out stumps, but I've had to have a couple inches cut off to start the healing process off again! I'm determined to get my natural long luscious locks back again this year! Xx
He girl, have u ever tried wearing wigs? I have thin hair myself naturally, was thinking about extensions but never got them done cause of the possible damage. I do have lot of wigs and u can always take them off ;) more protective style
I so relate to this girl its insane. I am going thru this now. im stuck with extensions that have grown out and during the pandemic noone can remove them. I am removing on my own and the glue is ripping out precious hair. I have bald spots everywhere. They rip very easily and are quite damaging. They look amazing and give you instant confidence but over the long run i believe they do no good for your natural hair. I had the longest, thickest, mosts amaZing hair until someone damaged it and burned it to the point it was crumbling in my hands. I decided to get tape in extensions. I now regret my decision and am still stuck with some very grown out. I am scared to take them all out because i will have very raggedy shorter hair and will probably cry. I truly in the middle of this. I truly feel this deep in my core. I wish I never did this. But when I reincarnate, I am going to come back as tape in glue strips, because they are some Strong Bitches!!!!
@@Emshelx It is ok. Just have to live with it and am taking a lot of Biotin and Collagen and new vitamins I found called GLOW. The packaging alone makes me feel happy and hopefully I can assist my hair, skin and nails from the inside out. XOXO
I feel this in my soul. My natural hair used to be so beautiful. Almost down to my waist from the back. But I wore such long, thick extensions that I felt like I had no hair. If I could just have that hair back... can’t believe I covered it up so often. I’m watching this to convince myself not to go back to hair extensions
Can I ask how you styled your hair (clipped it up) when it was at its worst point? I just had my extensions removed and I have less than half of what I had prior to extensions. I’m devastated and don’t even have enough for a ponytail (it’s just wisps). I want to clip it up but since I can’t do a bun or ponytail I don’t really know what to do with it.
I have the same experience, hair extensions ruined my hair and self confidence😭I would never recommend nobody to use them, after you take them out is like you are in your worst dream😭
Hi, can someone share their experience with the time after the extensions got out. I just got my bondings out yesterday and my hair thinned out sooo much! Will I be able to get them back to their origin? Maybe someone could share their hair extensions experience after months/years after gotten them take out. would mean a lot, since im stressing so much rn about it :(
Thank you for sharing your story! I used to use clip-ins and it totally ruined my hair! I already had thin hair but it was a million times better than what I’m left with now 😩 The Jessica Simpson clip-in’s causes bald spots on the upper sides of my head. I wish there was a way to grow the hair back, but now I’m left with shorter hair that I hate. Soooo sad!
I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I took my extensions out yesterday from my wedding and my hair is ruined. I am afraid I am going to have to start all over as well. When you said you had to cut your hair short, how short are you talking? Thanks for sharing all of this.
Wow I have experienced the same! I did. Great lengths for years back to back. Like 5-6 years. I’m surprised I have any hair left at all. It’s been 4 years without extensions and I have similar hair now. Doing everything I can again now to get what I have left to just be strong and healthy. I still do highlights so also taking a break from that. Also have bald spots on the sides from traction alopecia. From all the weight of the hair extensions. I see all these Girls on Instagram getting extensions and I’m like just you wait 😂 cuz it never ends well.
I feel the exact same as you . It sounds pathetic but I don’t even want to go out without some form of hair extensions as my hair is so thin it’s like a two year olds and I also am so obsessed with trying to be happy with it I’ve bleached it so many times to change colours .. never happy tho . Ahhh it’s literally the bane of my life . And funny u say that my other half said he hated my hair when I had it all cut off once ( think posh spice ) I actually loved it for all of 5 mins until he make feel like shit about it ! Ahhhhh it’s literally hair dysmorphia. The bane of my life ☹️thanks for video xx nice to know I’m not alone
How long did you keep your extensions in that it damaged your hair? I just had LA extensions put in my hair a day ago and I’m in so much pain (where the baby hairs are and at the back of my head and it’s itchy) I don’t want to ruin my hair again, I’m wondering if I should just take them out before it’s too late? 😖
Pls Do that. I have had la extensions, and my hair is ruined rn, so take them out before its too late. My hairdresser literally ruined my hair and lied When i asked her several times
@@mariammirza549 yes! They will just say that’s it’s your natural shedding and you are seeing it now because you couldn’t before because of the extensions etc etc. Never getting them done again, when I took them out I was so sad. Thank you girl and I wish you all the best 💕
U have to know how to manage fake hair to make ur hair grow, it also depends on hair texture, some people with silky hair like urs cant take the weight of hair extensions, but ppl with like a more rough hair texture like 4C hair it works because 4C hair is stronger because there r tight curls that r more rough
your hair looks great now!! 4 years to restore is a long time though and im starting to see that it takes a long time myself.. would you please consider sharing some pics of the progress from damaged hair on the sides etc to now? thank you for the vid!
Thank you - unfortunately it is just a long process, have you read this? www.emtalks.co.uk/2018/10/how-to-grow-and-strengthen-damaged-hair.html?m=1 xxx
The hardest part is to actually stop using hair extensions. I was extension free for 1 year and my hair thrived but I missed my full hair so i got them again for a trip this year and I HATE them. They feel just so foreign now and uncomfortable.
I'm struggling right now with this, because I took them out in November and miss them so much. But they absolutely destroyed my hair because due to covid, what should have been me moving them up my scalp in March didn't happen until June. Now my own hair is so thin and I'm so devastated. I am trying to resist putting them in ever again.
I have very thin hair quite damaged too because of bleaching. I just took out my keratin hair extensions and there doesn’t seem to be much damage at all (a bit of shedding but I think that’s normal I had the extensions for 4 months- a bit longer than I should have but I didn’t have the time to take them out) I think it depends. Also you didn’t need heat to take out the bonds, you just use the solution whether you choose acetone etc (olive oil works too) put some on a cotton wool soak in on the bond get pliers and press down on the bond and then the hair should slide of. It worked for me I feel bad you had such horrible experiences
Ive had extensions for 2 years now and i will be taking a break and removing them in few months time. My natural hair is very thin but i dont think its damaged in any way. My worry is how long it will take me to get used to my natural hair. Im scared already. 😬 I bought hair vitamins and will start taking them now. Hopefully it will all be ok
When I was 15 I got some GHD's (which are amazing and I still have them) for Christmas and it kind of went downhill from there. I was constantly using heat on my hair to the point where the whole back section would break off and would be so much shorter than the front. I really tried to get my hair cut regularly but I just couldn't afford it. I've had the same hairdresser since I was 13 (I'm now 24) and I got to her every 6-12 weeks for a tidy up (now I CAN afford it) every time she cuts it she says how much better condition it's in. I'm like you Em I think I've accepted the fact that I'm never going to have super long hair and I think I'm okay with it, just going to keep getting regular trims and see what happens really 😘
I love GHDS but any heat is bad - gotta make sure you're protecting the hair or just not using them every day I guess! Yay that's amazing news that you're getting ther ethough!
Thx for the share. This unfortunately has happened to me twice. My hair was ruined..I had to cut...finally grew out nice then I put bleach in it....it broke, and a family member started doing a new technique of extensions that apparently doesn't hurt your hair....well it hurt my hair...broken, thinned, bald patches. Cut short now and starting again yet again. I want to cry!!!! I'm not sure there really is a good kind of extension out there for my kinda hair.
I've already read your blog post on this, still loved the video version! I hate that there are still hairdressers who want to convince you to get extensions. I had problems with my hair through stress and hormonal caused hair loss and a hairdresser's advice was to get extensions, of course I didn't do it. I think it would have been horrible for the weak roots..
Your smart.! I wasn’t and got the hair extensions anyways. When I took them out notice tons of hair falling out. I have more damage then before the extensions. Wish I would of read this before I decided to go through with them. :(
I had the same problem with my bonded extensions. They matted like crazy and I lost so much hair because of them. I'm sort of lucky that I had super thick full hair when I got the extensions so I still have nice hair now but it kills me that my hair was in amazing perfect condition and now its lost half its volume. So my mission this year is to not use heat or very very minimal and try and grow it out again and hopefully I can get it back to how it was x
Please take the time to study your stylists. Please understand blonde hair alone is weak! The amount of care needed to maintain both extensions and color treated hair is a large upkeep. Most people find it to expensive to keep either up but you must do proper keep up. It’s 5% the stylists if he or she is properly educated and 95% what you do at home and proper care… This is sad because good stylists and good clients never have problems with extensions. Cold hard facts!
I had hair pre bonded hair extensions in 2 years ago and it ruined my perfectly fine hair which I had grown out and was so happy with, my confidence was destroyed when I had them taken out as all my hair had broken off and I was left with uneven thinning hair 😔 I've just had another set of hair extensions taken out and trying to let my hair grow and become healthy but it's so short and thin I hate it, currently wearing it up every day! X
Hi Nicola, how is your Hair now doing after 2 years? Got my extensions out yesterday, and now they are sooo thin. Wondering if I will be ever getting back my thicker hair ..
your hair will get better if you don't wear extensions and don't wear your hair in tight hairstyles and don't use heat on you hair I hope that your hair recovered @@weareallhuman223
Extensions are completely safe if you correctly take them out. Same with eye lash extensions, you will ruin your hair/lashes if you do not properly care / remove them. Pls do your Research!!
There is no such think as safe extensions. You’re putting unnatural weight on your hair follicles for weeks / months nonstop. Assume the follicle will get weakened and the surviving hair will suffer from stress.
I had same experience and was wearing them for years it definitely boosted my confidence i felt naked without it but thai time I realized my hair was thinner then ever amd i need to stop so I removed my tape ins and did a fair chop i also decided not to bleach my hair and im letting my natural hair grow im done with extensions and bleach im also doing heat free challenge and trying to wash my hair every 3 days opposed to where before i was doing it every day pretty much
Felt exactly the same about extensions. From 15 up until around 2 years ago I was obsessed with extensions and couldn't go anywhere without them in. Recently, I've got it cut every 8 weeks, avoid putting heat on it, use olaplex, use the best quality products and my hair is growing so much longer already, after years of it breaking off and just staying shorter. I still wear extensions now but only for special occasions, which has made getting ready in the morning A LOT quicker and I don't have to worry about whether my clips are showing etc. x
i really needed to see this video. i looked at other photos before i got extensions i had such nice hair, CLIP-Ins made me lose half of my hair i think. Did it grow back, i am so sad now because of this. i am thinking of taking it ll off now and starting over.
@@dianebaum4682 yeah it as a really bad move. it knotted my hait so badly. I had tape-ins for years and never had this issue. the clips really tore, literally my hair out:(
I’ve done research for months-and finally met someone who I felt confident would do it correctly. I have very thick healthy hair but I got a very bad haircut.
Hun I wish I had seen your video 4 years ago I have lost hair with clip ones ,, I feel I am at the stage I wish I could complete get my hair cut VERY Short but’s no it would show my Bald spots . Thank you so much for your video,,, you look fantastic now. 👌🌷X
I hate bonded hair extensions I trained in the and hated them they’re damaging. I only do micro and nano rings now as weaves and bonding damages the hair from the weight etc
@@Emshelx I didn't know there were different kinds! Well I just made yall an idea for a new video for us women who want to get into wigs instead of extensions. Wigs are easy too. You just put them on...I think. I dont know. Haha!
I just took out my tie in extensions and my hair is incredibly thin 😩😩😩😩🥺🥺🥺🥺 I am so close to cutting it all off :/ i don’t know how to recover from this...
Has anyone tried halo extensions? It's a hairband so shouldn't cause hair loss if you only wear it when you go out and you can make your own possibly the tape ins might stick to wig material if you don't fancy sewing them (haven't tried that yet). Just buy the hair, wig lace , elastic wire and nano beads to attach the wire to the lace. Buy a cheap halo to see how it's made. Anyone had hair loss from a halo?
Before i could not find much videos like this maybe youtube inscreased the popularity of this video because of all my work to explain the horrible result of hair extentions
My sister has the most amazing long hair but my hair is thin and about the same length as yours. It used to be a bit longer and I'm trying to grow it again but it hasn't been the same since I got ill and lost loads of weight. My hair looks healthier now than it did but it just doesn't want to grow, haha! Your hair looks amazing btw! xx
My stylist stole half of my extensions!!! When I seen her for a follow up. SURPRISE she had long hair in same color as mine and I needed to order more extensions the app after !!! Gee I wonder why !!!
I am sooo frustrated! HOW do you find a good stylist? Reviews don't seem to matter one bit. I've had different kinds of extensions for 4 years now and cannot imagine taking them out. I would have nothing in the back of my head. The last stylist I went to did tape in and I am dealing with that now. She put the extensions up too high. The tape she used is for shit bc I have lost at least 10 of them. I was at the store one day, felt the back of my hair and two extensions were coming out. I noticed a woman looking at my hair. At that point, I realized it was NOT bc my extensions looked natural! It's so expensive just to buy the hair and to lose even a couple in a store of all places makes me angry. I have been through at least 5 stylists now. I know.. take them out but I just can't.
I had micro bead hair extensions for 9 months, I have bleached fine hair, I had my hair trimmed every 6weeks and by the time I had my extensions removed totally my hair was in bits best condition.
Please help. My hair has always been my pride and joy. I figured since it is pretty damn healthy, it could deal with some bleach damage. And I figured the master stylist who did all the color-corrections would know how much would be too much. I was wrong, and now I want to burst into tears every time I look at my hair or touch it. I just don't know what to do. My hair has also NEVER been shorter than this and it breaks and falls out. What should I do to regrow hair?
How do you explain the videos that say that hair extentions damaging the hair is a myth? Cuz im sure a lot of women and girls believe those type of videos going on youtube
@@Emshelx but you, you thought of other women and made a video about it, while most of other women keep making sponsored videos about hair extensions or wigs and not telling anyone about their hair getting thinner.
Hiya love this video I have been told by 2 hairdressers (yes I got a second opinion lol) not to have anymore hair extensions- I have been getting them done on and off for 18 years!!! My hair has been chopped to a long extremely thin bob and I did feel really depressed. I explained it to my mum the same way you did it was a shield, it made me feel confident and I felt very exposed without them! I have not had them in for 2 and a half weeks now and I am starting to get used to the idea. Focusing on treatments I can do to improve the condition, volume and re-growth but I do miss them.... I hope I can get hair that looks like yours naturally eventually. I have been advised to use Nioxin 3 step treatment but any other recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks for this video made me feel better- my husband thinks I am so stupid even caring what my hair looks like x
You are a stunning young woman. We all have our bits we are never happy with and want to improve. I have body envy of ur fab figure!!! Which i know you work out for. Your hair looks beautiful now so dont let anyone tell you different ☺
Have they caused hair loss for you?? I really really really want to order some extensions and I’m so close to buying them but I’m scared about hair loss. I honestly think I’m still going to do it like I want them so bad
@@halloweensocks2953 They have for me but then again I've been wearing them since 2008 so it's been more than 10 years. Only in the recent years, I've noticed my hair's got really thin and I also have one bald patch from them :(. I guess the years of wearing them have taken their toll. It's okay to wear them from time to time, though.
I just had my extensions taken out. My hair is very thin too.
Ughh same! I had tape ins for only 3 1/2 months and now its shorter than it was and waaaaaay thinner 😞
Same happened 😢😢😢😢
my tape ins where in for a day and i had to take them out my scalp was hurting so much now I HAVE BALD SPOTS EVERYWHERE

I've just had nanos fitted yesterday 🙈🙈 I don't want to go bald my hair was already short but very thick
I’m addicted to hair extensions right now and my hair has taken such a toll but I don’t wanna stop 😩😭
Literally SAME freaking thing I’m going through right now word for word.
How did you get on ? I about to take mine out but I’m already having a lot of hair loss any tips on growth for after ? Xx

Why was the glue so difficult to remove??
So glad to know.. thanks guys!!
Hi, linda! How is your Hair now doing after a year?
I just got mine taken out and I lost half of my thickness I am so sad right now :( my hair looks awful now
it must be tough getting them out all In one time, bc we do get addicted to the feeling of more hair and then boom all gone. since its covid lockdown time I've been taking a few out like maybe 10 per week at a time so I have time to adjust to the shock of not having them.
My hair has gotten so thin from tapes and clip ins and I know I have to stop but I feel so uncomfortable with my natural hair
I just took my tape ins out. I had them for 4 years. They ruined my hair and now I have 1/4 of what I used to have prior to having them.
I have literally no hair on the back of my head from extensions. Thank you for this video!!!!
Thank you for sharing. In recent days I felt a strong urge to put extensions and this video saved me 😊
just took out my matted tape in extensions and feel very bare... 😣 But they were beyond repair. And my hair is really fine compared to what it was before I got my tape ins. I am never getting them again. Flip in extensions for me till it grows back.
Uh hair extension life! xxx
I never had Tape in but I’ve had clips in and they ruined my hair.
Good luck
Fatima Sohani how long did you have your extensions in?
Ali Drapos 9 weeks...
That is the best advice yet n ur not alone with bald spots n thinning hair!
❤️ Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Sorry for the huge long story there, but it’s so nice to find someone FINALLY to relate to that had a similar problem and story with hair extensions, since you ALWAYS hear the opposite, where people’s hair was completely fine and, or, actually grew longer with them in.
Man this girl did a number on me
My first time ever
My hair was already long
Needless to say
It’s up to ears now n horrible

Xx

I agree with you SO much with this. Every word you have said I am SO sorry for you xxxxx
@@Emshelx It is ok. Just have to live with it and am taking a lot of Biotin and Collagen and new vitamins I found called GLOW. The packaging alone makes me feel happy and hopefully I can assist my hair, skin and nails from the inside out. XOXO
This is my first time getting extensions... so one time won't hurt right?
Tape ins left me with bald spots..look into the beading..or halo or clip ins ins even better!good luck!
I am so sorry you had this too :(
Can I ask how you styled your hair (clipped it up) when it was at its worst point? I just had my extensions removed and I have less than half of what I had prior to extensions. I’m devastated and don’t even have enough for a ponytail (it’s just wisps). I want to clip it up but since I can’t do a bun or ponytail I don’t really know what to do with it.
Kate Douglas I just had the same experience. It’s awful and I have no idea what to do with it
@@fabiolagisselle Hi! this is happening to me right now and idk how to style my hair! please if you found a way lmk!!
your hair looks really health and thick now!
aw thank you x
Clip ins aren't too bad of you add more clips. It takes the weight of the few that they come in. My 3 clips have 5. My 4 clips have 7
Wow I have experienced the same!
I'm glad that you know that its not healthy to be addicted to extensions I get addicted to all kinds of things like that I totally felt that
thank you for watching x
I am so sorry:( Thank you for making this video !
You should try olaplex no 3 it helps my hair so much
Amanda Aube what is olaplex ?
aisha qadir it’s like this chemical that creates hair when ur hair is damaged
I've worn pre bonded extentions for over ten years with no issues...
lucky you!
Me too no issues
U have to know how to manage fake hair to make ur hair grow, it also depends on hair texture, some people with silky hair like urs cant take the weight of hair extensions, but ppl with like a more rough hair texture like 4C hair it works because 4C hair is stronger because there r tight curls that r more rough
your hair looks great now!! 4 years to restore is a long time though and im starting to see that it takes a long time myself.. would you please consider sharing some pics of the progress from damaged hair on the sides etc to now? thank you for the vid!

@@Emshelx it's worth the wait! I'll check it out thanks!!!
Thank you for being so lovely! x
What do you use to film main channel vids? Love this video by the way Em xx
I film using the Canon 5d mkiii / thank you so much! xxx
I think it would have been horrible for the weak roots..
good on you for not doing it - the best thing is probably rest for the hair! xxx
So my mission this year is to not use heat or very very minimal and try and grow it out again and hopefully I can get it back to how it was x
see my hair was soooo thick but they just took the life out of it as i wore them for so many years - it's so crappy isn't it! x
I had same experience and was wearing them for years it definitely boosted my confidence i felt naked without it but thai time I realized my hair was thinner then ever amd i need to stop so I removed my tape ins and did a fair chop i also decided not to bleach my hair and im letting my natural hair grow im done with extensions and bleach im also doing heat free challenge and trying to wash my hair every 3 days opposed to where before i was doing it every day pretty much
How’s your hair looking now has the thickness improved since then?
Thank you for this video clip ins have frayed my hair 💔
Your hair looks beautiful ...
Beaded in was horrible, u could see the beads and I couldn’t wear it up without the world seeing every bead…was a total waste of money
I still wear extensions now but only for special occasions, which has made getting ready in the morning A LOT quicker and I don't have to worry about whether my clips are showing etc.
x
What's us olaplex ??like to know
omg thank you for this video! x
Christine Lauren thanks for wat hing! Xxx
i really needed to see this video. i looked at other photos before i got extensions i had such nice hair, CLIP-Ins made me lose half of my hair i think. Did it grow back, i am so sad now because of this. i am thinking of taking it ll off now and starting over.
Zahavah Malka Capello my hair dresser said no clip in .
@@dianebaum4682 yeah it as a really bad move. it knotted my hait so badly. I had tape-ins for years and never had this issue. the clips really tore, literally my hair out:(
Was it keratin bonded? Thanks for this!
I’ve done research for months-and finally met someone who I felt confident would do it correctly. I have very thick healthy hair but I got a very bad haircut.
No it wasn’t keratin bonded just bonded
Alessandra Drapos did you get your extensions in the end? If so, how have you found them so far?
Have u tried hand tied wefts?

How are they?

I hate bonded hair extensions I trained in the and hated them they’re damaging. I only do micro and nano rings now as weaves and bonding damages the hair from the weight etc
beth eager do weave tracks still damage hair if you wear them short ..like say at 14 inches ?
I had micro rings in for a week … they were so painful I got them removed. I’m still shredding over a week later 😩
I've had my nanos in a day and considering getting them out their hurting my head but apparently it's normal 🤦🏻♀️
Love this lipstick on you it's stunning! Smash box? Xx
aw thanks! Smash box liquid lips indeed! they're amazing x

aw thanks babe! x
Do wigs damage your hair too?
Depends which!
Did you have the beads in or braids? I'm wanting to get these myself and am now reconsidering
Thanks for watching x
My sister has the most amazing long hair but my hair is thin and about the same length as yours. It used to be a bit longer and I'm trying to grow it again but it hasn't been the same since I got ill and lost loads of weight. My hair looks healthier now than it did but it just doesn't want to grow, haha! Your hair looks amazing btw! xx
Give it time lovely! Hope you're better now? thank you! xxxx
Sounds more like you abused them as opposed to they damaged you hair which for a lot of people they don’t...
Haha
My stylist stole half of my extensions!!! When I seen her for a follow up. SURPRISE she had long hair in same color as mine and I needed to order more extensions the app after !!! Gee I wonder why !!!
Same thing happened to me when I had bonded extensions
Kathy Ostman-Magnusen ugh yeah I just had someone put them in too high too (tape ins)
I had micro bead hair extensions for 9 months, I have bleached fine hair, I had my hair trimmed every 6weeks and by the time I had my extensions removed totally my hair was in bits best condition.
im confused are you saying your hair was in good condition after microbeads? im about to get them and im nervous
@@franciscogarcia7851 did you get them fitted? How were they? I’m also nervous for my appt now after seeing this
Hair extension are addictive
Just with proof that obviously anything heavy attached to your scalp will of course damage hair follicles
@@Emshelx thats true
