- After nearly two years traveling Canada and saving money by living full time in our camper van, we found our dream home: A small log cabin, with enough open space for huge vegetable gardens and enough forest to get lost in. :)
Hey guys, boy did I enjoy your videos. I can relate to your homesteading journey. Sixty- two years ago my husband and I started our marriage by buying land and building our first small three- room house,built a new ground garden,. A barn and small storage and fenced all five acres.now the ending- we have five children,fifteen grandchildren, and our first great grand. Last fall I started building hugelkulter beds down and a very long driveway between blooming shrubs. I planted it with berries, and winter squash and pumpkins. They all did great!!! I harvested minty butternut squash. I also started the no- till method in my Luther five small gardens. I went into our woods and hauled many truck loads of wonderful stuff to add to my old plots. I am so excited about it all. You two will be successful in the years to come!! Your love for each other just thrills me. First of all let me congratulate you guys on getting your new home...Listening to both of you over the last couple of years has been a joy, Not only for the amazing journey you let us all share with you but it also gives me encouragement that that the kind of love my wife and i have still exists in some of today's young people. Enjoy your home but PLEASE dont forget the van life completely. And Derick you need to become a speaker of some sort.......CCCCCCC YYYYYYA!!!

I've recently started my own RUclips journey to document my experiences of learning to farm. I'm not a farm girl, but I'm loving this life, and it's been a huge learning curve. I have been trying to categorize this channel in my head. Was it a camper van living channel? No, not exactly. Was it a home steading channel? No, not exactly. Was it a minimalist living channel? No, not exactly. Finally, I think I figured it out. It's a life philosophy channel woven through camper van living, home steading, and minimalism. You are very good story teller and should give some thought of writing books. I would definitely be a reader. Already a fan. Thanks for what you do, and the stories you tell.
Glad you're happy your cabin reminds me of my old one. Walked in and had to have it, open floor plan. Spent the first year discovering the joy of chinking with oakum. Odd thing is i'd do it all over in a heartbeat.

Oh my gosh! I am so glad to have you back on RUclips and know what is happening in your life. I will celebrate my 54th wedding anniversary in December with my best friend, the love of my life and the person who has shared all the highs and lows of those years with me...... And still loves me! Happened to me and my mom too. We were hunting the perfect land for her. And we found this one that wasn't exactly filling all her requirements, but the minute we entered the land we both felt "this is it". Kinda magical...
