Lisa LeBlanc, I would like to say something about the origin of the icon of the Mexican Day of the Dead: "La Catrina" by the famous Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada. The image of a female skeleton is dressed in European outfit from his upper class time. She is offered as a satirical portrait of those Mexican natives who, Posada felt, were aspiring to adopt European aristocratic traditions in the Mexican pre-revolutionary era. So "La Catrina" has become an icon of this Mexican Day of the Dead. I invite you to know more about this author. Thank you! ruclips.net/video/tXKLX3QQ7yk/видео.html
Great to see all the celebrations and festivities in CDMX this year! We just left Oaxaca City where we observed Día de Muertos and it was incredible, although they didn't have any large, organized parades as normal due to covid. That didn't stop the decoration and small scale festivities though! Highly recommend Oaxaca City - great architecture, food, people and mezcal! We're in CDMX now and have really enjoyed the La Condesa and Roma Norte neighborhoods. Looking forward to the next video!
