As a person that was raised fishing for species other than bass and started later, I find it amusing that so many bass fishermen get so excited at a bite that they practically throw themselves in the water "setting the hook". Bass are often so aggressive that you almost dont need to set the hook.
With a treble hook bait I would agree with you, but when fishing a weed-less presentation like a jig, or in this case a Ned Rig, where the hook is hidden inside of the plastic bait setting the hook is necessary. And as you can see I still lose fish. Watch some underwater footage of bass and see how quickly they can suck in a bait and spit it out.
