I appreciate Mario’s simplicity in this song, he always has the most tasteful drum parts. Great cover, you definitely nailed that unmistakable Mario groove
it's kinda sad that people don't appreciate simplicity these days.. like.. if you don't get a crazy blast beast with 500bpm double bass they don't enjoy it
I'm a guitar player, but I appreciate well orchestrated drums, this dude is super underrated. Fast metal drums are cool, but simplicity has a place too! This dude has such good grooves, and I think hes a total boss with where he places his cymbal hits. Nice cover!
I love the drumming in this song and the simplicity of the part works so well, though I was hoping to climax at the end there would have been a double bass part to follow the guitar work. I can't help but think about it every time i stick this song on
When I first saw one of your videos, I did not care for you. But, like any Boxset I start to watch, I like to give it a good 3 episodes before making a decision. I can now report that you are now one of my favourite RUclipsrs and drummers. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I almost started typing a comment above, ... but then thought, "I can't possibly be the only one who noticed!" lol.... Otherwise, definitely a great cover!
Another brilliant cover from one of my new favourite RUclipsrs ever. And I'm not a subscriber for one year yet. Gojira, one of the masters of French music but the kings of French metal.
Most of their other songs are a lot heavier than this. If you don't mind heavier stuff go directly to the album From Mars to Sirius. If you like it like this song listen to the album Magma
Goddammit dude! Record/ playback quality of this is amazeballs. Levels are balanced, tones are even, the cymbal distinction is great! Awesome post! Ohhh yurrrrrr
Congratz for up coming performing in modern drummer neil peart tribute fest...such an amazing line up...its must be a great feeling performing with legend drummers such as carmine appice, gregg bissonete, dom famularo, mike portnoy...wooww!!,so proud of you man!!,keep up the awesome n hilarious performances....ouuhhhh yuuurrrrrr!! 👊🤘
Sam learned of you from Devin videos. You are really good! And funny. The how drummers knock on doors was brilliant! Looking forward for more geniuses ideas.See you on the Empath concert. Tony northern Michigan
Question: did you move snare mic to noon position to work on snare to tom fills? It looks like it is in the way. So you would have to be careful playing. I do like it at noon if it is lower than the toms. Is it a training thing, or does it help with the recording of your snare. This is one of those drum nerd questions that I must know the answer too. Thank you!
This song is so Zen and peaceful / chill, it's like a bedtime lullaby, with all due respect to Gojira. Great cover. Now do, Remembrance by Gojira LOL!!! \m/
Gojira is interesting. They have absolute thrashers like Esoteric Surgery and L'Enfant Sauvage but then subdued songs like this and Stranded. Good stuff nonetheless
I’m kinda curious as why the drums are so simple we all know Mario Duplantier and how technical he likes to get I guess he’s laying back to release the full monster in the new album
Please do the art of dying
I second this request!

samus is slowly becoming more moon-gel than man.
Prevents double hits with his triggers
@@bowser8375 well gojira has a pretty beefy snare, it sounds kind of weird otherwise tbh because mario hits so hard
@@zedpwner if there’s anything in life I wanna be, I can tell you I don’t wanna be Mario’s drums
Art of dying or Heaviest matter of the universe - NEEDS TO HAPPEN
This track reminds me of The Shooting Star, especially the chord progression in the bridge. As always, nice cover, man!
I also get The Gift Of Guilt vibes from this track
I can hear:
Oroborous, shooting star, magma, backbone and something of gift of guilt
@@digitaldeathsquid3448 I saw Gojira at Exit 111 last year, and that song blew me away! In fact...their entire set blew me away, lol.
I can hear Gojira
Caleb Begley I was in the pit at that show jesus that shit was insane
Wearing a shirt 1/5
this song hits right in the gojina
LMAO that's what I was gonna say but I was driving when I got the notice.
@@GillRigged oh yurr
It's barely a Gojira song, they've really gone downhill since Way of All Flesh
@@ArkhBaegor lmao
Yes!
Those Meinl cymbals sounds ssoooo beefy and sharp at the same time. wow
Samus is legit one of my fave drummers. Pretty much any big band could have him fill-in on drums and I'd be cool with it.
All those shiny cymbals 😍. Great cover!

No one can deny the groove.
Meanwhile, 90% of french people don't even know gojira
90% of French People are from Senegal and the other 10% are Portuguese and we know Gojira
90 % pfff that not enough even in their region I didn't saw someone who know them
Qu'est-ce que Gojira?
Content d'être dans les 10%.
90% of people don’t even listen to metal, so...
I think it's pretty easy to hear that Mario plays eighth (edit 16th) notes on the ride cymbal during the verses...
16th notes. But I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed lol. I think Samus held back back because of wrist issues, so he simplified it a bit
@@mikelees4435 oh yeah my bad but 🤷🏻♂️
One note: he kinda does a double hit on the ride during the verses. Other than that, great work of course
yeah first thing I noticed
I almost started typing a comment above, ... but then thought, "I can't possibly be the only one who noticed!" lol.... Otherwise, definitely a great cover!
This cover is from like.... Another world.... no? okay I'll see myself out!
I love his riffs man always creative but simple too it's like a slow song but still heavy yet has groove
Finally a Gojira song I can play!
Same here 🤣
You can play anything if you put your mind to it
Awesome cover Samus! It's great to see you hammer this one out so soon after its release!
🤘🐋
Man your kit sounds really good lately and your cymbols are much brighter now. Sounds killer dude
Another brilliant cover from one of my new favourite RUclipsrs ever. And I'm not a subscriber for one year yet. Gojira, one of the masters of French music but the kings of French metal.
This track is saidly simple but really kick in the face, the atmosphere is also great
I know you will probably never see this, but can you do a cover of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up with blast-beats.
OOHH YYUURRR!!! Hope the wrists aren't hurting much now. Just bought my ticket to the Empath Vol2
a double bass on the second riff would fit soooooo well
Absolutely love the slipknot snare!!!! Great cover! Ohh yurrrrrrr
Compared to other videos you’ve done, I never would’ve thought you could cover this!! Impressive man..
I've never heard a Gojira song before now. Me thinks I like it.
A good one to check out that's a lot like this one is The Shooting Star. They're a great band, like a mix between Opeth and TOOL
Most of their other songs are a lot heavier than this. If you don't mind heavier stuff go directly to the album From Mars to Sirius. If you like it like this song listen to the album Magma
I am french and I love GOJIRA!! In the America they are the best!!

Awesome post! Ohhh yurrrrrr
There needs to be an emoji for windmills. 👌🤘
Simple yet effective! \M/
Wow! A contemporary metal song that *doesn’t* use the double kick pedal! This is a surprise. Finally something I could actually play! Great cover.
I love this song & your drummring 🤟🤟🔥🔥🥁🥁
Loved the sound of those heads
He's using triggers though. So the sounds you hear are not the actual heads. :)
@@Tri-stn aw :(
Another great play through man!!! love Gojira
The easiest song of their carrier at the drumming section
THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO COME HOME TO
You make it look effortless. Great job dude!
I love the sound of your kit!
Remembrance drum cover please! Most fun song to cover by Gojira imo!

Is that triggered tom in 2:22 some kind of a hidden message?
What do you mean?

This was cool man, wish you did the 16th note patterns on the ride cymbal though. Keep it up!
Oh man those cymbals are so good. Great cover! Artistic choice not to play 16th notes on the ride in the verses?
"That was a triplet!"

It's smart to play in a way that compliments the song rather than try to show off. :)
Eini S yeah I agree especially for this song
