Great interview...... Now where's killer Mike at
Have become a fan of so many of the guests that i didn't know of previously. Love the podcast. Plus, shoe game on point!
I enjoyed listening to the conversation, was definitely moved by the dialogue, how do we, I mean the little people no one knows become involved in trying to help move the people into a positive direction!!!
Salute!
This interview was amazing!
I’m a Baton Rouge native living outside of Houston for past 19 years Pre-Katrina move lol
Proud of what I see (probably kinfolk) doing in his representation of us and his origin story is soooo relatable...Hope he keeps it up because his trajectory is limitless because Hollyweird and the world at large is starved for genuine spirits.
I’m also am and have always been a Talib fan, So happy about this interview right now...It hit so many levels of my own personality... and the knowledge, energy and dare I say wisdom that I rock with
I just salute you two dope Negros
Appreciate this content-moved me..
Van outgrew TMZ.. It’s where he cut his teeth but during that moment with Kanye, he made his truest debut. He ready.
I've said the same thing while he was on the show. Homeboy just need his own talk show like the one he's doing the interview on now.
We need more respectful and rational dialogue in our culture. This...is that. Greatness.
Van is great...I like his perspective.
agreed...This is THAT...Greatness
Nothing great about pseudo intellectuals convincing folks of their simple, redundant, and non original regurgitation of ideas they dont even know theyve been taught to keep us down.
@@jaimesolis8362 Jaime, you seem like an intelligent person (based on this brief reply to my comment). On one hand I absolutely overstand your sentiment. It is definately valid on some level. But, this particuar convo may not be for everyone. Now, I'm a mixed race person of color & based on your name you could be as well or you may be of some indigeneous/latin decent combo (i can only assume based on your name). With said, it's my opinion that our Brotha's & Sista's of African American decent have a unique lense for which shapes our world view, as it it applies to almost everything pertaining to the US/American experience. The individuals in this convo are merely sharing an educated view of their personal experiences. Now, one of the reason's I feel as though this was a good convo is beacause I understand that my community needs to here dialouge like this among 2 intelligent Black men. While I may not agree w/ everything said & truly wish we we're beyond these talking points. We must remember for those of us lucky enough to be educated & well versed in the way the world works. My people are behind in many ways. Aprox 400 years behind. Some of these convo's are over due. So thought patters & topics that may seem dated or what have you to some, are extremeley important to our community. Again I feel this convo is not only great but necassarry especially for any Black youth that may come across this video. Be well Jaime -BB
@@bzlax Thank you for your excellent reply. As you can probably tell by my poor punctuation in my last comment. I was rambling to some degree. I completely understand how and why these convos seem important. I m just no longer convinced its actually providing solutions, so im kind of tired of it. Hate to have seemed so disconnected. Thanks again. Stay righteous.
*STANDING OVATION* for this discussion.
Fam, we appreciate that 🙏
What I like about van is he's very aware as well as educated on the culture and what's going on in this world keep it up my brother!
I Love Van Lathan story. I love his wisdom, intellect & humanity. I could listen to him speak all day.
His wisdom lol
The voice of Reason 👏👏❤️
I’m late to this interview, Van has been fired from TMZ....But this is one of the best conversations on RUclips I’ve heard. Two intelligent, interesting, educated Black man talking Black...... much respect!
This Talk show had a lot of WISDOM that the Black Community NEEDS. We need a full episode on the last 5 minutes of this segment alone.
WELL DONE GENTLEMEN !!!!
Something about Van that's super attractive... beyond that he's handsome, just something dynamic about this brother. Apologies if this is well-known, I've never seen him on this type of platform.
Peoples Party has fastly become my favorite podcast
One of, if not thee best episode. Keep bringing that 🔥Van and Talib✊🏾
Love the show! This is a much better platform then twitter for Talib. I guess thats pretty obvious. My only question, why does Jasmin sit on the other side of the room?
Jasmin also acts as a producer with a headset and laptop in front of her that wouldn't work at the table
@@uproxx thanks for the reply
Yooo, i started following Talib just a few days ago. I know he's mentioned on here how he's quite vocal on Twitter. But, damn! If this podcast is 'intellectual' Talib, then Twitter definitely 'street' Talib.
@@JayTaicho yep...he goes in on Twitter.
I wondered the same thing, makes sense
Van attacked no one on TMZ. He came back to Babcock after their exchange,(look at the tape), put his arm onBabcock's shoulder, and whispered in his ear, "do not disrespect me again on air or their will be consequences" or something to that effect. Babcock is an a--hole. He purposely baited Van for brownie points and to elevate his popularity. Van wasn't having it. If anything both should have been only suspended. Van should not have been fired. TMZ is dead in the water without Van. But the sunny side is that God does not like ugly....Van will come out on top and Babcock will disappear into the sunset. Trust and Believe that.
Yup
Babcock always annoyed me with his dumb hipster ass. But now I can't even stomach him knowing what he did to Van.
I just became a Van Lathan fan! Great interview!
VAN SPOKE THAT ISH AT 55:20...My Brother, said BLACK PEOPLE created a culture on the fly that healed them from some of the deepest wounds that anyone could be inflicted with.
Puerto Ricans tryna USE that same culture to propel them to the next step😑 How opportunistic🤔
Excellent discourse, these two have good chemistry
Don’t tell LL!
@@uproxx hahahaha LL is too Hollywood now, he's removed from needing hip hop cred
@@uproxx Hahaha!!!
Mutual respect
I watch People's Party almost every week but this must have dropped before it started. This is probably my favorite episode. Talib usually has intelligent guests but Van has tremendous wisdom in addition to that intelligence.
This podcast is so dope. I love seeing the growth. Please never stop having conversations and sharing it with the world.
I’m in love with this show it’s like listening to an album with dope ass features!!!!! Thanks Kweli & company!
Outstanding Interview
Enjoyed the section on black conflict resolution
I love Van! I appreciate you brother for standing for something and not falling for anything. We need more of our Black men to be positive examples for our Black sons. Thank you Talking for your positive platform and art. Love you too brother.
TMZ annoys the shit outta me. It's always on either in break rooms at my job. Or, at my mother's house... but I always thought this dude was the most rational in the group. Hope he does well in the future.
Van low-key looks like he's kin to Kanye.
Courtney A ...Nah Van looks like he has common sense!
To me, he looks like The Game
I FELT THE SAME WAY! They both have a resemblance to each other as well as THE GAME as @samillien said.
@@samillien I see it too.
High key
Y’all, please excuse my superficiality, but in addition to this being a thought-provoking conversation, Van is FINE AS HELL!!!! Ok, now back to my regularly scheduled podcast....#FanningMyselfOnTheVeranda #IDoDeclare
I love him
Relax
BATON ROUGE, LA!!! BORN AND RAISED!!! PEOPLE ASKS ME VERY OFTEN WHERE ARE YOU FROM ....I'M LIKE HERE...I'M FROM BATON ROUGE!!! LOL!! SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY HBCU PRIDE!!! TULANE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI TOO!! XOXO
Let's big up the HBCU only 😉
225!
I would love to see Common or Mos Def ( Also Known As) - - > Yesiin Bey On People's Party . . .
He Prolly wouldn't have Mos on here cuz he kno we like him more...fuck this fake ass revolutionary ✊❌
Definitely Mos Def but he can skip Common.. he is not really kin folk... all skin folk aren't kin folk. IMHO....
💘 Mos.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!
I think it's only a matter of time
Thank you for this podcast. Van was a great guest.
Let it b known a 64yo New Orleanian, this is where I met Van Lathan!
It's sort of strange listen to a conversion about a "beef" I never knew anything about. I'm 74 and not informed on what's happening in the "pop" culture as many of your audience seems to be but for me I took away the daring to care and dive into the miss trust that the "beef" had for the conversation. I will continue to listen and learn. Thanks I wish you must success - both for the two of you.
Great interview. Big up to Kweli for the Redhead Kingpin "We Don't Have A Plan B" reference!
This episode will go down un history. This exchange of thoughts & idea's is really refreshing. I hope this gets shared among the community. Nice work Talib, Van about to blow up! His departure from TMZ is bout to propel this Brotha to new heights. Salute Ya'll -BB
TK, I'm impressed with the guests you are bringing on, always thinkers. That's a great look. I thought Van crawled up the stairs huffing and puffing then hit the gym... Mad respect for both of you. keep it coming.
Self-time is unique to developing yourself. It gives you time to 'unplug' from people and occurrences, that you don't necessarily need interacting with your creative space!!!
A willingness to have difficult convos... intentions do not trump impact... talk on the standards we set for ourselves... Deep.
Enjoyed the show. Now, Van can tell us what next for him! Big ups to you Van.
Salute to Van his a good dude wish him well in all that he dose keep up King 👏🏾👍🏾✊🏾
When do good people choke their coworkers over feelings. And advocate hate towards people like in this clip of him ruclips.net/video/g9wDcxEyN-g/видео.html
"They are ALWAYS on code" facts... great interview. Well done, both of you. 🍻 I came to check out a few mins, stayed for the whole ride
Van... Thank you for speaking clearer and to the point. I am not a fan of TMZ. Glad you moved on..
This is good interview.
Van needs his own show.
@Sonny’s big sister Beeski
you know what when we hear things like that we need to pull each other collectively and support one another.
Another prime example is the football player #7 his whole movement. We should be supporting him not go against him....
And to go back on TMZ.. they were the first person that cover the story when my brother that's assassinated in front of his business Nip Hussle... TMZ are a weapon and instigators.
Majority of them are playing the propaganda very well..
TALIB WAS BUILD FOR THIS
GREAT CONTENT, GREAT INTERVIEW 👌🏾
came here thinking this was after he got fired from tmz
Its not... oh I'm out!
@@karlapetty3067 I clicked so fast just to hear about TMZ lol
No. They would have had to discuss Van leaving TMZ and why or it would be failing the "culture ". This Podcast is before Van left TMZ.
Me too been looking for him and Raquel ugh
@@carsmusichannel what happened to Raquel
Tmz was a stepping stone. You're about to do big things. Much love.
he's right about the Baton Rouge accent thing. Word to Marcel P Black
Please excuse my lateness. I love this podcast. Love the set, and Kweli and co-host work well together! I need more! Great interview to all.
Kanye not afraid to apologize 👏🏾 #humanity
Humanity is not you friend
Marxelo World STFU.
Great conversation on every episode. But also great quality video and sounds. Camera movements are on points unlike most other podcasts.
Yessss!!!!!!! What Van L. said showed how I felt watching the Kanye antics on TMZ, before and after!!!!!!!!
This was a dope episode. Bring Dave Chapelle
THIS IS THE DEEPEST CONVO ON THE PEOPLES PARTY BESIDES CHUCK D THAT I HAVE SEEN. I AM A FAN OF KWELI FOR HIS ART,BUT THIS INTERVIEW NEEDS TO BE HEARD BY THE MASSES ON PLANET EARTH
I truly enjoyed the convo as if I were there. Thanks fellas
Wow that last question. just before the TMZ incident.
Jasmin is killing me with the silly interruptions. Dope interview I fucks with Van.
King 👑 Van Lathan!.... Love your honest R and B....✊🏾Southern Los Angeles Loves ya
Talib's voice is so calming.
Love this ENTIRE interview/discussion!!!!❤
Van brought tears to my eyes explaining what happened with him and Kanye West
Eye love the respect this podcast or whatever this is have for each other and their guest. They dont really talk over each other and if they slip up they acknowledge when they are doing it and allow the other to continue to talk.

Amazing interview, much respect 👍🏽
He gave a gem when he said spending time alone allows you to be you.Thats soooo true because to me when you aren’t around others a lot you don’t have to conform or be on all the time.Y’all got it mixed up.You do need to go to Church if you’re watching porn for six hours on the regular.lol What?! Where the hell you get 15 wings for fo dollas?!😂
Louisiana luv
You did lay some gems on us about being oneself!
#FACTS. I've learned alot from this interview... Thanks @talibkweli #people'sparty @vanlathan #redpill
Great episodes....keep it up...conversations like this NEED to be had amoungst the black community. Every state. Every city. Every town. We can get this right.
I really enjoyed this discussion. I could watch these 2 debate all day

This podcast is popin . Didn’t know Talib had this . Good stuff !!

Ok I didn’t have much respect for either of these guys. Now I have the utmost respect. This is one of the most uplifting conversations I’ve seen in years.
Van will continue to Excell!! ☮️💪🏽
Talib Kweli ....
1. you should bring some of these ppl you have had disagreements wt on your show .... you have the demeanor to conduct an interview wt them wt out it turning into a fight.
2. The 14 ppl that gave this podcast a thumbs down are all ADOs .... they gotta be cause this show is flawless
@Brown Moscato Oh, you mean the WOMAN that helps to co-host and technical direct the show? I think she passed being 'the girl' a long time ago!

I love Van in everything he does. Thought Warrior here ❤
This interview was AMAZING. Good listen on a Tuesday afternoon at work ❤️. Just the hit at home 1:34 BLOOP that's it Van.
Kanye West does not have a level of consciousness. Kanye West is not deep. Kanye West does not think before he speaks, not unlike his current idol Donald Trump. When he speaks off the cuff he sounds like a moron.
The Blast was and is my favorite skating song. Roll wit da beat.
Keep on dancing
Thank you, Van. I wanted you out of that TMZ shit so bad. Keep it moving man...phew... Blessings and peace.

First time watching any episode of this Podcast.... I always was a fan of Talib as a Rapper.....💪🏾🤝🏾❣️ & I could Honestly listen to Van Lathan speak FOREVER. 🤎♥️🖤💚🤎
Glad to have you onboard the People’s Party
To me authenticity scREAMS, and that is so Noticably Respectful.
Damn! Going from President Obama to Trump felt like experiencing Heaven on Earth to living through Hell on Earth.
Can u get QTip
Great conversation. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot
Awesome conversation 💯💪🏾
This guy was a beacon of lightness
He never back down from his opinion of the truth
He is a New Age Malcolm x
Yes I did not who he was.
But he always made some valid points and stand up for truth.
So where I did not see him I thought he was on leave or day off.
I love Van interviews
I've slways liked Van. I stopped watching tmz for a while after was fired...i started back watching since then
Without the development of a relationship that shares similar foundational aspects and a rapport you can not hear, respect nor trust another person. One will instead accuse, assume and demonize that person. Hence, ensuing and deeply entrenched conflict.
Van is the best
I said it before, that your are about 2 grown bigger. Just because TMZ close their door on U, another bigger & better one is about 2 open. I saw something in U go there on Kanye. It was topics U touch on that showed me the advocate in U & how U really rock. U are about 2 blow up. GOD BLESS 👼👼❤❤❤🙏🙏
