    Excellent work Mark, I’ve enjoyed the entire series. Currently building the Great Planes version and decided to check this out and learned a few tricks from you along the way. Much appreciated, take care.

    Hello, I'm from Hokkaido, Japan
    You are sticking the film very well!
    Especially the three-dimensional curved surface of the wing tip is good!
    I am attaching a J-3 Cub film with a wingspan of 1600mm.
    Good luck with your production!😊

    just wondering, could you do the shrinking with the iron itself or is the surface to small for that? just wondering because I haven't used the heat gun yet and it scares me..... one thing I did do is use the heat reacting glue on the access door edges so the film will stick better.. nice job thought!!

    • @MarkRobinson555
      @MarkRobinson555  Год назад

      Yes, shrinking with an iron will be just fine. Practice on some scrap film just to make sure you have the right temp. Good luck

    Loved it. I am currently building a Banana 2000 and I needed this video so bad ngl. But, how do you stick the wrap to the frame? What kind of glue do you use?

    • @MarkRobinson555
      @MarkRobinson555  9 месяцев назад

      The film has a heat sensitive glue, so you use a hot iron to stick the film to the frame. Thanks for the comment, pleased you found it helpful

    Lightex is my favourite covering. Steve Webb models doesn't carry much any more.

      You can order directly from World Models, if you order enough it should outweigh the cost of shipping etc, just a thought

    You cut the slots for the hinges before you cover the wing, right? So, after you cover the wing, whats your technique for finding where you cut the hinge slots. Do you just take a knife and cut through the covering where the slots are? I'm doing a kit for my first time and your help is much appreciated. thanks

    • @MarkRobinson555
      @MarkRobinson555  3 года назад

      Yes I cut the slots before covering. Once I have covered the wing, I use the aileron with the hinges in place to cut the covering on the wing to relocate the slots, I then cover the ailerons and use the hinges in the wing to relocate the slots in the ailerons. Good luck with the build

      @@MarkRobinson555 Thats very clever. Thanks for that tip. I started my RC career with electric motors as prob most people do. I'd like to try glow or gas engines. What do you think the best way is to learn how they work. I don't really know anybody to show me what to do. Howd you learn what to do with those types of motors? Is glow much different than gas? Thanks Mark.

    • @MarkRobinson555
      @MarkRobinson555  3 года назад

      I also started with electric flying foam planes, but now love balsa and glow. Best thing you can do is find someone in a local club who flies glow if you can, and is willing to help, thats what I did. Also, you could get yourself a 40 trainer something nice and easy to fly so you can concentrate on the engine setup. Good luck, its a great way to go! 😀

    you should seal the covering joints as well so the nitro doesnt lift the covering off the wood mate

      Sorry, I can't remember the make, I don't have it any more. You just need a hot air gun from a DIY shop, used for paint stripping. Hope that helps

      Hi Ron, really pleased you find the videos helpful. I found MiniRC really good for balsa, and their mail order is excellent. I just sent them a message on Line to order there web address is minircflying.com

      @MarkRobinson555  3 года назад +1

      I have had balsa from ABC Flying, but I have found their service not quite as good, occasionally getting things wrong etc. I have also bought balsa from stationary shops, but quality is highly variable and you have to sort it and pick what you want.
