I grew up in the Mississippi Delta, aka Home of the Blues... Henning May would fit in so well singing with B.B. King before he passed...

They are German and have a few covers of English songs like Roxanne and Can’t get you out of my head. AnnenMayKantereit with the singer Henning May cooperated each time with another band. You could watch those with your wife!😊
But mainly they make their own music in German. Definitely worth listening to even if you don’t understand it. Though people have started to study German because of them😁
The other band here, the Giant Rooks have toured the USA last summer. They have English lyrics even though they are German, too.
I dare to say that I enjoy their music enormously, even though I can't understand all of the lyrics. Henning has a way to deliver the lyrics so it really hits the feels. He is truly an artist. Their music is original, and really also stands without understanding the lyrics. I just recently found them and literally can't stop listening.

I hate it b/c I love both of their voices and the first guy always gets completely ignored after the second guy comes in. They are both on a completely different spectrum which is why they work so well together. The second is just more surprising to people but they are both equally talented.

You’ve got to try their live one-take of Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen, which translates loosely to I won’t go out dancing today, but can be also loosely translated to I won’t go out dancing anymore. The German lyrics run absolutely opposite to what the music makes you do.

You should check out more german bands ... as Germany has the third largest music market on this planet, there is a lot to discover! A lot of artists - not all of course - prefer english language as their singing voice, you'll understand the lyrics. From hip hop to metal, all genres avaible! :)

Giant Rooks ahhhhh I found them as a opening act for another band (von wegen Lisbeth) many years ago. I am so happy that they all get the attention. Also Henning with his song "Barfuß am Klavier" years ago was my first encounter with him. So damn happy to hear them getting famous and keep doing their music
