  • Helix 3.6 is out with new amps, including the Grammatico GSG, a model of the Grammatico GSG100, an Overdrive Special Clone (I think?).

I incorporated a Grammatico-based Helix patch in a set last week for the first time. The audience responded really well and several musicians who were there made a point of complementing the tone on that patch. I'll definitely be playing this one more.

This model is hands down the best model if you want the cleanest headroom! I've been waiting for amps like this for years! I always preferred the Axe2 when I needed a clean headroom / dynamic amps. Thanks for the demo!

Comin' in way less cool than the custom Dumble'd Twin guy haha but... Very much enjoy your GSG snaps. For me, the moment I played around with that amp model, I was home. Been gigging with the Stomp for a couple months now, using the Matchstick, Twin, and Mark IV models mainly, but none of them really were doing it for me the way this model does. If Line 6 put this in a box by itself a la UA Dream etc., I'd probably just play that and run an HX Effects for all the other stuff. The Grammatico just feels and sounds the way a rock guitar amp feels and sounds in my mind/dreams. And so versatile with all the gain stages and shit. Absolute game changer.

John Cordy used to use the litagator before this Grammtico update, for the Dumble stuff. The Trainwreak/Derailed Ingrid is a real good one too.

I have a 1969 Fender Twin with JBLs worked on by Howard Dumble. It has a 2 position stack overdrive. Great sound. Robben Ford told me about Howard in 1972 in Santa Cruz, Ca. Great amp!

The Opening segment reminds me of Jason Sadites his demo songs, usually at the end of his Amp. preset videos for like Tonex and Helix.

nice channel, just a tip : when using a delay with a headroom option, always max it to 12 db, it will save you of dealing with any artifacts when you get to crank the amp too much.

Yep if you want the delays clean, for sure! Sometimes it’s nice to dirty them up though. :)

That sounds like the John Cordy based preset, he is the HELIX King of Tone from the UK, does at least a couple videos on the Helix every week. He loves the Plate reverb.

Love Cordy! His preset is quite a bit dirtier, I think. I tend to like a little less dirt generally. But hey, I’ll take sounding like JNC any day ;)

@@bradspaulding I always wonder when I watch some of his stuff, What is all this Fizzyness, but I keep thinking it is White Noise I am hearing because he is too close to his Studio Speakers, the most noisy is of course the stratocaster guitars. when he uses Humbucker guitars there is way less of it. And one inherent trait with Strats is they have what we used to Call the stratocaster BARK sound, if someone asked me to define what the BARK sound is: I would tell them it sounds a Bit like FRET BUZZ. Now strats will also with those between pickup positions 2 and 4 do the QUACK sound which is an out of Phase postitioning, It used to be COOL to hear this, because it had not been overdone: I am thinking the 1st time I heard it was LET IT RAIN of Eric Clapton's 1st solo album. Then of course SRV way overdid it, and everyone since camps out on those positions. It is one of the reasons I keep fighting not getting another Strat, and I used to play them Quite well, just all the overdone stuff. ERIC JOHNSON with his almost flawless technique is the Artist I call the STRATOmaster, he minimizes the BARK, but he uses those quirks somehow in his Technique. The TONES album is where you can pick out Where and When he uses those Quirks to enhance the musical statement he is trying to make. I honestly believe NO ONE will EVER rival him for STRATmastery. But you never know. CORDY is a VERY MUSICAL person, and has the inflections/Phrasing, so it makes him a Wonderful ARTIST who should get much better recognition in the FUTURE.

when you are at 2:23 to 2:34 the clean tone, listen for the STRAT BARK sound, hear what sounds like Fret RATTLE, I still wonder how this sound comes out of strats/Pickups, never been able to pin it down, TELES are not as BAD. I always wondered if I put a Strat bridge pickup in a Tele if it WOULD BARK instead of TELE BITE. LOL. Of Course I always listen for with PAF pickup guitars for the PLEASING CHIRP sound that come from GOOD PAF type pickups. The GIBSON custombuckers are Their best CHIRPING pickup in DECADES, at least to my ears, I wonder if that is because they use an Alnico 3 magnet, usually you hear 5's or 2's and sometimes 4's, but Custombuckers use the AL3's who ever came up with THOSE has GOOD Ears!!! By the WAY NICE sound in the opening sequence, much Cleaner than Cordy gets off RUclips.

Maybe just try to enjoy music instead of being an expert. Just my advice.........by the way.......minutes later after reading your comments I am still "ROTFLMAO"

@@benburnett8109 Glad you liked them imagine if I start making my own RUclips video. Imagine the titles: WHAT is the STRATOCASTER BARK?? WH'at is the strat Quack. What is the tele/bite/ice pick sound?? Think it would do well?? I love laughs, and the terms Bark and Quack are pretty funny. LOL.
