Jim Henson was so fascinated by interactive entertainment and saw it as a huge, new, experimental avenue for art and technology in this era. Had he got his hands on modern gaming tech, I think we'd have some really interesting experiences.
I've seen the raw version without any overlays, and it might interest some nerds to know that the yellow fleas in the bug catching game aren't interactive at all. They're just part of the video. To a lesser degree, so is the timer, the rocket's fuel gauge, and the egg scoreboard.
I love how if you choose Gonzo at the end the whole song is about how terrible it was that there were no disasters, and that version doesn't even remind you that you can rewind for something different 😂 What a hilariously depressing ending! Man I love the Muppets.
I'm just wondering, what year were these interactive View Masters invented? 'Cause I'm familiar with the regular View Masters with the film reel shaped cards. The ones that would have about 8 still scenes from a Disney movie. But I've never even heard of this system, until now. And I'm someone who grew up with the Leap Frog learning system
Because they were all originally created by Jim Henson under the Muppets name. And, at the time this video was produced, he still owned the rights to Sesame Street and The Muppets, among other projects. It wasn't until after his death that the trademarks were distributed among different corporations and The Muppets name could only legally be used for those under Disney's control. It's also why Kermit is no longer allowed to appear on Sesame Street.
Fraggles were originally called “Muppets” up until 2004. Since Henson retained the rights to the series, the puppet characters were no longer being called “Muppets” since Disney currently owns the name

This was funny and fun! It's a real shame the muppets aren't on television as much as they used to be 😭

Thank you so much for this. 😭❤️ I added it to my Jim Henson playlist.

Awesome video! Been looking for this for a while. Bunsen and Beaker are great! ❤️
Someone should remake this
Totally
Yep
Disney currently owns the rights to The Muppets and its characters
Remake this without Jim Henson? You jest!
For PC!

you can put this video muppet wiki
I would love to know why the characters on Sesame Street are also called Muppets if that is a totally different show.

Fraggles were considered Muppets in the 80's and 90's as well.
@@ZC-InfinitySesame Street wasn’t created or owned by Jim Henson. He only created and owned the Muppet characters created for the show.
