Musician Juan Escovedo talks with Jon Leon Guerro on the Break It Down Show Podcast about his experiences touring with MC Hammer, meeting Prince for the first time, touring with him on the Purple Rain tour, appearing in his sister's Sheila E's "Glamorous Life" music video, meeting El DeBarge for the first time, and being friends for more than 35 years. In addition, Juan discusses the release of his most recent music video, his upcoming show at Yoshi's Jazz Club in West Oakland, California on April 22, 2023. The show will feature his all star band featuring singer Martin Kember of Color Me Badd, guitarist Vernon "Ice" Black, saxophonist Eddie M, bass player Myron Dove, drummer Billy Johnson and keyboardist Bob Crawford. He even gave a just little taste of his performance of "Black Magic Women." and more. On Monday March 13, 2023.
Juan Escovedo is the oldest son of legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo and the brother of singer and percussionist Sheila E, as well as the nephew of Coke Escovedo, Javier Escovedo, Alejandro Escovedo, and Mario Escovedo of the Escovedo Bros Latin Jazz Sextet. His album "The J" features the song "Angel" in collaboration with Martin Kember of Color Me Badd and El DeBarge from the R&B group DeBarge.
