  • Finally a light that will kick my tiki from my keychain. don't get me wrong it has cons (ip54 and that flimsy flap) but those down points get massaged away by all the pros for me. this one just hit that 9 out of ten point for me.
    its not a high cri and its not a 1000 lumen monster but it ticks all the boxes for a very small capable keychain light.

      Excellent! It's still on my keychain and loving it. The ability to just look at the screen and know my time left and battery level is what I enjoy the most. I'm not missing my TIKI at all. I hope they do more lights with screens. I would also love to see the ability to mod the firmware and alter the screen contents. But I don't know if they will allow that.

    So so so tiny 🤣🤣 but it's enough for everyday use.
    Moonlight mode so good.

      I agree. Super small but perfect for close up. And the screen just ads the extra feature for me.

    Theres one thing i haven't seen people mention is if u hold the power button to turn it on for 10 seconds the oled display will come on and the light will turn off only showing the oled display in a demo like display. To de activate press power button once.

    What the heck? Whats with this unexpected *supreme* quality and in-depth review, haha!
    I'm actually blown away.
    Btw what impressed me most were two tings, which I have never experienced in any other flashlight review:
    1) You did *moving* beam shots comparisons; and on top of that all were almost perfectly swaying in unison.
    How did you do that? Practise? Or mentally counting while swaying? Anyway, impressive!
    (Although the beam shots did sway quite slowly in the comparison, it was still a bit too fast imo. Think about it. As viewer you have to compare 9 not still but moving, very similar images at the same time side by side. By the time your eyes reach the 9th shot, the conditions have changed so much that the first and 9th shot are totally different. You can rewind though, so actually it's no big deal at all)
    2) How diverse, practical and most of all how intuitive the on-the-go testing was. What I mean: whenever I was thinking "it's time you put the light more forward and/or change to higher brightness, you actually did it a few seconds later! Almost felt like I was the one testing it personally, unreal :)
    The only thing I didn't find useful was the lengthy wall shot comparison. The beam patterns and levels of illumination got shown in more expedient use cases in the foliage shots anyway. So the wall shots didn't tell much useful info compared to the foliage shots, considering the time spent on it. A simple 5 second still picture comparison would have sufficed to get the info across imo.
    Also a TINI bit too much rambling (resulting in video length) but interestingly nothing felt like redundant info. So actually everything was informative. Amusingly I can't even complain.
    Sadly even this supreme review failed to mention one of my favorite features about this light (if I missed it I'm sorry):
    The buttons very discreetly flash in 2s intervals once the battery is almost depleted.
    It keeps flashing even after being turned off, so you gently get reminded to charge it. It is not annoying due to it's discreteness, quite the contrary: Thanks to that feature and the "remaining time" info I never had this light die on me in over 2 years of usage yet!
    Imo those features get more important the more intensive the use and the more you depend on this light working.
    (I use it during work, before and after work as front bicycle lamp in winter, and after that occasionally for tinkering at home. By far the best flashlight buy in my life so far. I seriously consider buying 12 of these for my whole family this Christmas)
    I hope you keep up that great review quality! :)

      Hi so sorry I'm just replying now I sometimes get behind all the comments I get these days.
      Firstly thank you very much for taking time out to write such a detailed comment and I'm so happy that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. The main aim of the channel is to present honest reviews which help give enough information to make sure someone can make an informed buying decision, so they get exactly the light they need so they love it.
      It does take me a very long time to edit my footage I usual spend days on that and you are right I then need to time map each one to be in unison. So as you can imagine if I have 9 4k bits of footage and I then need to overlay them and match them in movement it takes a long time. I don't mind as the more work I put in the easier it becomes for the viewer to digest the footage and see what is best for them. How I do that is I count in my head when I do the video shooting so I try to mimic the same motion and speed. this never works fully so I then need to make work in the edit, so I time remap each one by making a keyframe or cut at certain points and then stretching or shortening the section of that footage to match, its a lot of fiddling!
      I do the main talk all in one take with no cuts so that's why it feels like I'm progressing at a sensible rate 🙂
      I hear you about the wall shots cheers, I get some people love that and ask for it some don't. I'm sure as I progress I may dump them. I tend to keep them for now so you can see what the light will be like in an urban environment but thanks for letting me know its of little use to you this is brilliant feedback cheers.
      Ha ha guilty as charged on the rambling ha ha ha I agree but when I try to shorten it all the long time subscribers complain :-)
      Yes I missed the flashing buttons sorry mate I did it all in one take and sometimes I miss a point, hand up for that one sorry.
      Thanks for the super kind feedback its great and I agree I've bought the tini2 for a few gifts this year and carry it on my own keys its lovely.

      It does looks decent that T1, also the price is quite sensible for a Thrunite. Im flooded with keychain and really small lights right now as i am with headlamps but i try to get around to as many lights as i can. Thanks for the kind support mate :-)

    Bought the rovyvon keychain from Amazon, 20 squids of my hard earned cash. Happy with size, settings etc but the flimsy charger port is rubbish , doesn’t fit properly and broken off. Expected better for that like of price. Would not recommend. Like the TT review of another keychain, metal body, unscrews to reveal port . Far better design and build by the looks of it. As I use these home and work they need to be durable.

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +3

      The thing I find with Rovyvon is they look lovey and I get one then there is always something that sours me on them. Now that's a shame because they are one of the companies who listen to feedback and release a fixed version 2 of certain lights. I love that but its not much fun for early adopters who paid out for them. This Nitecore one is still going strong on my keychain every day and I'm loving it.

    Thanks for posting the useful comparison between these lights. Many times I need the light to illuminate my way for ten minutes or more. For my purposes the average brightness over time is more important than the peak brightness. Do the images at 18:18 show the brightness after being on for a few minutes or just the initial brightness?.

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +1

      You are very welcome its my pleasure. Those images are showing the max output of each lights to show beam profile. as is always thew case though turbo is a temp output that all lights will set down from. I hope that helps mate.

      @@TrailTrek Thanks again for the information and It does help but my old eyes need about 200 lumens with a good beam pattern to walk at night. My original keychain light was a MAG Soltiaire. It served me well for many years but it was not bright enough as I got older so I replaced it. The new light used a 16340 cell and could output over 200 lumens for over an hour. It worked well but was just too bulky and heavy to carry on my keychain. What I need is a light that is smaller around than 16340 size, shorter than a AAA light, and can output an average of 200 lumens for at least 20 minutes. It looks like the TINI 2 can do that but what about the others?

  • @chemicallust77
    @chemicallust77 Год назад +1

    I would probably just put it on demo and leave it...a light like that would only be used for short periods anyway for me...I daily carry a Nitecore MH20...but a smaller light would be handy for just a few secs of light here and there

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +2

      Good point and then there is no risk of it turning on and staying on in the pocket. Im still carrying it daily with whatever is my daily driver and im still very happy with it. The shell is lasting extremely well so far compared to older plastic models.

    Good night ! The display of my Tini2 doesn,t turn on anymore. Do you know if it is a defect or configuration problem ? (it should turn on when pressing the mode key). Thanks !

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +2

      Hmmm well there are 2 lock modes. But each one will show a small padlock symbol with a number so you would at least get that. Press the bottom button 2 times (holding the last press) and this takes full lock off. I've never seen a completely blank screen on mine even when locket. See if that works, or maybe it's drained in your pocket without you knowing so the cell is empty, try a long recharge. I'll try my best to help you.

    mate, does this come with a clip? for a cap etc.

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately no, unlike lights like the tip which have a plastic over sheath that gives you a nice easy clip this doesn't come with one. Maybe at some point there will be a 3D printable after market but I've not seen one yet.

  • @andrewarthurmatthews6685

    Just wondering why you would want to have 45 torches either key chain or not ?

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +3

      Completely reasonable question. (Stands up in front of the group) "I'm an addict".
      On a more serious note some I get at no cost for reviews and I'm always looking for a better light and something new, if I was normal I would sell them once I know I'm not going to use them. However as a flashlight reviewer I hang on to them as comparison tools.

      I was trying at work I have a tiny torx set and had it half open but kept getting disturbed. il have another go, the price of this was daft when it first came out now its the same as the original was when it first came out but when I bought this I used a discount code otherwise you are right the price if high for a keychain light and a one with a battery that you cant replace! I was using a code like BGtorch7 at banggood but now I go look at the item they say its discontinued?

      @@TrailTrek indeed, the titanium is much expensive but it's so beautiful and no scratch on the body. I openned mine at my home, just to see that everything it's ok inside. IN the Nitecore TIP SE i have i had found some oxydation on the buttons from the electronic board. The Tini2 does not have this problem yet.

    These rubber port flaps seen to be consistently poorly designed and poorly made. You need to have a word TT !,

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  Год назад +1

      Ha ha I agree with you. So many of the rubber flaps are terrible and I feel like they are an after thought because some are decent enough. I do often have to write long reports on pre production items I test but I don't really get much feedback on my comments. I have seen lots of good designs but I guess the sometimes extra cost of a better design is a lower priority to profit. It's sometimes like the engineers make a beautiful design then right at the end some accountant gets them to slap on a weak rubber flap that falls off after 6 months.
