Thanks for including the small section about boat prep. Sailing the ocean for the first time (even the 10th) has to be one of the most accident prone activities in all of don't starve purely for forgetting small things like boat patches or seasonal gear
A really good tip for fishing you missed is to place your bobber right next to the boat's edge. You will instantly catch the fish if it bites. This is made easier with feather bobbers, and made even easier with a friend to nudge your boat a little bit forward with an oar.
Spent 2 years already trying to catch the sun fish and ice bream. Didnt know sunfish didnt like berries. Hopefully this guide will help. I want them sooo bad for my wurt😢
Well shoot i was working on an in-depth from fishing video. But looking through the video i still can do mine since i have all the numbers and bait/chum values. Nice to be able to bounce off this video
Should've mentioned the fish trawler! I based near water at my portal and set that down next to a boat with a few tin fishing bins on it. It passively collects fish that go by even with 0 bait and I just load them into my tin bins to keep them fresh indefinitely. It's a nice backup source of food and corn cod/poppers can be used as substitute vegetables in dishes that require veggies. Later I also built a dock out to my closest set of ocean rocks/deep water and put one next to my grown sea weeds so it catches deeper ocean fish and spittle fish that are all attracted by the sea weeds!
This is such a nice video, thank you for this. I always considered myself a master fisher in this game, its basically all I do. But I find it so hard to explain all the mechanics to it so I can finally just link this video. I even went so far as to make an infographic about all of the different fish with all of the information about them, such as their bait stats and which waters to find them, I posted it a while back on the Klei forums. I'm sadly a bit disappointed you didn't get into some of the more complicated fishing strategies like having your bobber right at the edge of the boat to instantly catch a fish when you hook it, or how you can set a sail to move the boat towards the fish to make it easier to catch. Otherwise, this has been such a great video
I would usually base near a wobster den, setup a trawler and use consumable baits there. Then get a sea fishing rod with the night bait and catch wobsters at night while the trawler gets the fishes.
Fun fact about wobsters you 100% Can just use the bare hook to nab them, they just take almost the entire night to bite the hook because they never give up on a hook in the water that has their attention
I wish ocean fishing was just better, it's a neat mechanic but I don't see allot of love for it. Considering just how heavy the ocean fish get I think it would make allot of sense if ocean fish could drop extra meat, the big fish could drop one big meat and a couple morsels, or in the biggest fish like the dandy lions they could even drop multiple big meat
I was just thinking about looking up on youtube about fishing in DST and you pop up in my recommendation. I played DS ans DST for a long time and never really thought about fishing. I saw when they fully updated fishing but i wasn't interested, now i will definitely fish a little bit as a side hobby. Great video, thanks! (also what do charm and reel bonuses mean?, charm i guess sort of a bonus chance of fish catching on bait but reel bonus i don't know.)
cane from terra's video, thank you for making this! ive been playing a lot of wurt lately and i was trying to figure out how to get the thermal fish so this is really helpful :D
Ponds are much more instant, but only give the equivalent of fish morsels Bigger ocean fish are the only way (aside from other ocean mobs) to get the big fish, which are useful for some recipes Ocean fishing takes a lot more prep though, so it's better to see ocean fishing as more of a sport/hobby with the benefit of getting to eat what you catch.
The best way to fish is to just catch fish at the shore line, you catch them faster and more efficently than pond fish, and they can last forever in a tin.
If you have a cluster of wobster dens near your base, defenitly go for them instead of the pond. One wobster and three ice gives a dish that heals 60 health. Very op and usefull.
@@Rose19-dm8eo pretty sure you need butter for it correction: It DOES need butter and the filler CANNOT be ice in DST. It CAN be twigs though, and it CAN be ice in shipwrecked.
Uh... is it some mod or a game bug? Or was it decided that it's useful and convenient to describe things as your character fishes in her head? I mean, what should I take away from your explanations if there is no bobber, no line, nothing visible, only the character sort of autistically doing something?
The character catches a fishç player talks during the video, someone watches the video and I am pretty sure that he understand nothing about fishing. It added no value to my gameplay. I am sorry, but it is what it is.
Bro, you talk in a rush and yet you need a long time to get to the point, and when you do you're going by so fast it's hard to follow. Just speak calmly and only say the important shit, please
The quality of a game is decided by the quality of it's fishing
But what about Hollow Knight?

thank god they added fishing to destiny 2

Wendy: hmph, I see no resemblance
Webber: Wendy got mad when we said it reminded us of her...
That's funny

Sadly it is not possible on console, so he needs to cover that too

I didn't realize until I started fishing that wobsters don't even try to struggle, so they're really easy fishing

There are already sharks and narvals for that + the fig biome
If you’re fishing w/ a friend, they can move the boat closer towards your reeling fish so that you catch fish more quickly

I think the spork is very nice as wurt you get a lot of them from merm king and they work against pretty much all fish at all times of day.
Thank you for this my man. Sailing/fishing in this game is really fun but it gets way too complicated at times.
I just wanna ask how do you know you catch a heavy fish? I want to trade some bootleg with Frostjaw

What a god awful feature. The best advice possible for sea fishing is to not bother with it at all.
