Thank you for sharing that story through this painting. It's remarkable how we, as humans, as imperfect as we are, even in our suffering and anguish, have the ability to create such beauty and meaning in the world, not only with the paint brush but also in writing, in song and in action. It is only through the bitter that we know the sweet. Without darkness, it is impossible for the artist to reveal the light.

This video deserves to reach more people. You did an excellent job explaining it.
We all should focus not just on the painting but on the artist's thought process while he was creating the painting. I guess knowing this makes the painting even more beautiful🖤

I recently started to investigate the life of Vincent Van Goghs as I have been going through my own mental health struggles. I feel a deep connection to Vincent and Starry night as I too, suffer from depression and anxiety. It's painful to know that others don't understand the things you are experiencing and judge your pain and trials. This painting makes me feel like I am not alone. It makes me feel like other people connect with the world the same way I do. And that's comforting.

Nice video. It's not my favorite Van Gogh painting, but it's definitely growing on me. Among my favorite artists, he's the one who just keeps getting better every time I come back to him. I could really get into just the tapestry of different blue brushstrokes in the night sky. Ah, and I was thinking that we modern people seldom can see a proper night sky because of pollution, and all the light in cities. It's amazing when one does get to see a clear night sky, and to be outside painting it with Van Gogh's skills must truly have been a religious kind of experience.

I have to agree that he also keeps growing on me. What's your favorite Van Gogh?
I love the experience of viewing the night sky in the countryside...so sad that many people today rarely, if ever, get that experience

@@ArtHistorywithAlder I'd probably say that his self-portraits are most reliably my favorite, but of course my mood changes. There are too many great ones to choose from.

It's mystical and mad. Swirly sky looks quite familiar. It's nostalgic.
