Hi Cam. I’m an All Star Host in San Diego Ca and I’ve been doing Turo for a little over a year. I have a fleet of 4 cars. You should’ve mentioned that Turo doesn’t have Loss of Use when your vehicles get damaged. That is one thing I absolutely hate about Turo. I’m sure you’ve gone through damages and it just sucks that when a guest damages your car and you have to take your car into the shop that Turo doesn’t pay you anything so you lose all kinds of money until the vehicle is ready to get back on the road. Turo doesn’t lose money because they come after the guest and they charge them for the damages but we as Hosts don’t get anything. Plus we have to pay the deductible according to your insurance plan that you have with Turo. It would be great if you did a video next time on this and maybe shows us some tips on how to maybe speed up the process or any best practices. Keep up the great work. Thank you.

If you are on the 60 plan turo will pay you when your car is down.

Completely disagree about the “race to the bottom” comment. How much do you think we should pay to rent someone’s 2023 Mitsubishi mirage? The car rental industry is a duopoly that screwsover consumers, Turo’s prices (if you include fees and insurance in many cases it is not) should be lower than enterprise and hertz, otherwise there is no reason to even use it

Would definitely agree. With the first one though I do have to say Turo puts their cut of money to good use. I always have been able to get ahold of a friendly and helpful representative 24/7

Yea I try to take my vacation during our slow times, I also agree on the pricing; that is why I just buy 10K cars and under going forward. It really not worth having a new car unless you have a very busy area and / or its summer time. Most of the guests want cheap cars, at least that is what I found in my market.

Bro!!! I;m glad some said something. I had someone return a vehicle late and turo charged them a late fee. I for $14. The guest reached out to me and asked why they were being charged $54???? What!?!?!?!?!?!? You mean to tell me turo too $40 and gave me $14 for my inconvenience??? wow!!!!!! That should be illegal!

HI. I have to agree. I am a Turo host with 4 cars. I was initially really excited to do Turo. And put tons of cash into it already. But I have come across exactly everything that you are saying. Turo takes a huge cut from both the host and the guest. They are making huge profits that they are not sharing with the hosts. I had a guest say the exact same thing about wanting to extend but they couldn't afford $100 for another day where I was only charging $37.00 I am in CA and it is definitely a race to the bottom for pricing. I dont know if It is really worth all of the effort and time as I am barely breaking even. I am hope full that I will make a profit but each time something goes wrong or I have to take my car into the shop for a repair. I have been denied claims (one because the guest said they were using the car for Door dash and I didn't immediately tell them to bring the car back or call Turo support). Apparently because the guest violated the terms of service I was denied the claim. As far as insurance I have Lula $87.00 per month but they are discontinuing this. I am not sure if I will be moved over to another insurance (they will notify me on the 10th.) Anyway I whole heartedly agree. There is not alot of training for hosts. I definitely appreciate your perspective.

All star host here. Love the content but unfortunately I disagree with a lot of your points
    1. Lack of education? It’s 1099 work. Not w2
It’s not Turos job to teach you anything. You want to use there platform you have to learn on your own. Taxes, delegation, etc. They provide the free platform. You use your metrics to get better as a business. Just like Airbnb or any other app.
Your self employed it’s your duty as a self employed individual to learn things as you go. Whether it’s reading a book or learning from other seasoned host. They will not give you the recipe to success.
    2. Turo fees ?
They pay out for anything and everything. They provide you the amazing software and make everything smooth as long as you can provide proof.
    3. Stepping away from business ?
You can easily just snooze your cars for the days your on vacation…..no one can book your cars for those days. So you can have a worry free vacation.
    4.Insurance????
You can easily get commercial insurance with trackers. 1 cheap economy car can easily make enough to cover over 5 cars for you. 2 cars can pay well over 10 cars with insurance so not expensive at all if you play your cards rights.
    5.Race to the bottom?
2023 cars are price cheap due to people not doing there homework before jumping into massive debt to finance a car. They don’t understand depreciation. They think they’ll buy a new car and it’ll make them hundreds in profit. Without them realizeing they have a car payment now. No. They don’t understand insurance or depreciation. Putting them in a position to lower prices cause they made a huge mistake. While people like me rent out my cars 5 plus years older for the same price as 2023s.
I can keep going . But great video ! My opinion as well.

I agree with all these points as a power host but,not everyone is in our position. These are things I wish I knew before getting into turo. I know this helped a lot of people prepare for what they are signing up for.

You pay 10% of your earnings and Turo gives you the marketing, payment processing, insurance and makes sure the customers pay. If you need someone to hold your hand, get a job. As far as vacations, that goes the same with every business you need good people working for you or don't go. Insurance through Turo is at a great price, don't do 80/20 the only way to go is 90/10 to max out your revenue and margins.
This guy doesn’t have any real business knowledge or background, it's evident in his presentation. This is coming from someone thar would probably fail in most businesses because Turo is about as easy as it comes.
Put the time and effort in, do your homework, watch RUclips and learn everything you can before starting out. Price your vehicles competitively, make sure they're always available when not rented and make customer service your number one priority.
That's how you succeed with Turo.
