He sure is much smarter. Mycroft can see the big picture. If Sherlock sees one thing, that's what he'll focus on. Mycroft focuses on everything. He also has a "don't give a shit" attitude. Sherlock can be an ostentatious show off, Mycroft doesn't really care.

But instead they made them even, but I guess that was because they felt like Sherlock had acted like such a high moron for so long that they had to bring some of his show off back, and Mycroft would just overshadow him if he was shown to be smarter than Sherlock. But I still think that they should have made Sherlock solve an extremely hard case in the very end, and super well done while Mycroft was in a cell, and make Mycroft solve all the quizzes before the way faster than Sherlock.

Y'know something else? A scene like this would make you realize that whatever their relationship is like, Sherlock and Mycroft aren't that different. Seriously even if Mycroft is lazy and mundane about his intelligence... he and Sherlock, they are really alike. Deal with their feelings differently... but still very similar.
