this is a super interesting phase in their career -- heres my notes ben is... ben... i don't study piano so someone else can "grade" him here. robert is back to the big LPB-3, so his tone is fuller, which i love. He's going less for the speed of 94-97 and more for touch, which reflects the band as a whole. He's still shredding like crazy though. darren is in a super interesting spot- his kit setup is getting flatter, and more Reinhold-y as opposed to the jazz near-vertical slanted tom placement built for speed. his cymbals are in early reinhold/reunion positions now, with a flatter ride, and overall lower. His playing is, in my eyes, a perfect blend of the speed of WAEA/ST and the touch of reinhold. What a show.
Funnily enough, before we were given the footage here from Jordan, we did try asking in the comments on that video to see if they had a recording of Ben Folds Five as well, you can actually see that comment right now on that video from one of our personal accounts there lol.
If you're referring to the brickwall compression, that was on the tape when we got it. The remaster was mostly just removing tape noise and EQing. When I remaster the audio my goal is to present what's already there the best I can instead of heavily messing with it.
