I have a friend who once told me, "I think English is probably the most difficult European language to speak." I said, "How do you pronounce the name of that volcano in Iceland?" and he just nodded and said, "Good point."
Icelandic is tough but have you seen any Welsh words lately?! haha
he probably doesn't know much about languages to say that...
@@DominikGuzowski English is the streamlined Germanic language, most of the annoying wrinkles are removed like v2 word order or "to be" perfect tense. Strangely though this seems to have happened mostly over the past few centuries, and is the doing of native speakers since foreign learners tend to keep more wrinkles in. Why would a native say "I wrote someone" while a foreigner says "I wrote TO someone"? I've been to China and indirectly have chinese ancestry, and Mandarin is viewed this way there, the writing system is difficult but it's had the edges smoothed out compared to other dialects.
@@jacoboleary9076 -- I love Jimmy Carr's comment on Welsh. "The Welsh language was clearly invented by a dad losing at Scrabble. 'That's not a real word.' 'Yes it bloody is.' 'It starts with three Ls!'"
Try to learn to speak loro and let's see if English is hard😹
I was actually accepted to do a geophysics masters program(aka study volcanoes) at the University of Iceland starting this August and I’m so excited about it
I’m so jealous
@@thehikingviking haha I was gonna say the same thing :P
Geophysics was like my third choice... life!
(like 20 years ago lol)
@Chester Perry thanks! And no, I’m from the US
Catherine O'Hara, congratulations to you! But....... I seem to remember
reading somewhere that "Vulcanology is a science which tends to KILL a
lot of the scientists who study it!" A little pyroclastic flow will give you quite a
headache ( when your head explodes as the liquid in your brain flashes into
steam, just like those poor pukes at Pompeii and Herculanium. ) Do I remember
correctly, there was a vulcanologist at Mount Saint Helens who set up his
equipment several miles away and got some really cool pictures of the
eruption.......and was killed a few seconds later? And even The Force couldn't
save Darth Vader.
Catherine, be careful! ;)
You have given me yet another reason why I would love to visit Iceland!
Come, it's wonderful :)
Lol I was planning my trip and found this channel.
Amazing and beautiful even my partner wants to go to Iceland after seeing hrafna hiking videos 💁♂️ oh he's a changed man now 😂👌
Love from Japan, another volcanic country 🇯🇵🌋
welcome after the COVID volcano
Someone in my Zoom breakout room was Icelandic and she experienced a earthquake live a couple of months ago! We were all so alarmed and she was so chill about lt haha.
It's definitely amazing of your parents to give you that opportunity to see the volcano from that helicopter since you are dealing with an injury.
Injury? did not know... hope it was not detrimental.
Amazingg!!! Vulcan will be active for years. I can imagine! the mood will never change!!! 🌋👌👌😂🤩
Yay! This is so amazing! (I was wondering when you were going to do a video about the volcano but now it all makes sense). Thank you for sharing the fantastic footage with us from you and your friend of the eruption. I'm so glad you got to go!! Love from California
I’ve been obsessed with volcanoes since I was little so you are living my dream life right now? This 100% makes me want to visit Iceland more, definitely coming off as a beautiful mystical place the more I learn about it
Feel better soon Hrafna! Thank you for sharing your volcano experience with us!! I’ve been wondering what your experience with it was! 💖
Ok as a geologist, I am so jealous! I've been watching livestreams of the volcano 🌋 for weeks.
I've been following this volcano on the Reykjavik Grapevine channel. I was thinking about you, what your experience of this unfolding natural wonder is. A helicopter trip - wowowow!! And so cool that #5 did its geyser thing while you were there to witness it. Sending best healing wishes for your injury!
i think it erupts each 8 minutes so as you pay the helitrip, they make sure you see the eruption moment because it may not be cheap at all
OMG really wonderful !!! Love from France 🇨🇵😊
OH YEAAAAAA the island is speaking to Iceland. There is a MASSIVE fight happening between the gods within the mountain for sure 😂🤣 I liked this video Hrafna yes!!!!👍😅
Another wonderful video of your life and times. Thanks for sharing your life and times with us that watch your channel. Well done young lady.
What a beautiful experience and gesture by your parents, thank you for sharing it with us.
Yoooo epic
Beautiful place can't wait to visit🇮🇸

Another awesome video 🇮🇸🤩
Hrafna,... thanks for sharing this, because there's no way I'll ever get to see it in person , so it's great to be able to see it here. What an experience! So happy for you :-) definitely one of the coolest videos ever! Hope you have a crazy nice day :-)
Oh my Gosh!! Thanks for the Video Hrefna!! 😊 stay safe and ég vona að þú hafir gott veður
Getting a personal look at a volcano is among my most precious bucket goal!
I freakin love the excitement geologists and volcanologists have of studying these beautiful mountains of fire even plains that steam poisonous gas.
And the drone footage from your friend are spectacular we can do these days! I envy how super lucky you are to venture at an active volcano!
Your awesome hrafna always excited to watch your videos always interested to hear about Iceland love you hrafna
"Kveikur og Vaka" because of the volcano, really special and magnificent @hrafna
🤘😎♥😊
That is a breath taking view. So cool.
Hope you heal quick.
Awsome !
I have been following the volcano updates on you tube every couple of days.
Thanks for a great video!
I recently tore a tendon and partially dislocated some ankle bones, so feeling your pain.
Imagine casually getting a ride in a copter of helification over an active volcano spewing out lava geysers as if the magma got absolutely smashed on cheap whiskey and told a very inappropriate joke on the volcano's wedding as a gift. Hrafna, your mum is a lucky woman, and so are you for getting the chance to take part in it.
That is so *kickass* oh my gosh!!!!
That looks awesome! I've never been out of the continental us but my father was stationed in Iceland for isolated duty when he was in the navy back in the 60's. I think he was in Reykjavik for a while but I'm sure he didn't get to experience anything like that. I know my grandparents and mother were living in Washington state when Mt. St. Helens erupted. My mom told me about what it was like and how everything was covered in ash like it was snowing. I'm pretty sure I have a bottle of volcanic ash somewhere. It's amazing how fine that stuff is. Love the video.
Wow what a treat to fly around a volcano!
Hrafna ,thank you for this report. The world need s to know about this activity and too little has been seen. Good work !
Ooooh myy god!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Awesome video!
That eruption really is great. I've been watching it everyday on a webcam.
I have experienced eruptions of Etna and Stromboli live. The best experiences of my life.
That's amazing! Wish I can see it
I was waiting for this
Amazing! Volcanos are a terrifying but fascinating force of nature
Wow looks amazing! Nice footage
Awesome video! I know people here where I live who want to come over, I hope they get all the info about the trip, and behave themselves !!
Take care❣️
Oh wow very interesting!!
Nice video about the volcano, interesting
Great video lovely Hfrna!!! 😊 I would love to visit Iceland one day!
I was all set to go on a 1 month holiday to Iceland when the Corona virus hit the world. Hrafna your videos are amazing and almost as good as being there 😀. Keep up the good work.
STUNNING PICTURES AND VIDEO! I wish I could fly, I would love to see this in person! (I have never flown in my life!)
Have you seen Kaleo's performance in front of the volcano? Totally mind-blowing
Yup now I'm definitely visiting after all these pandemic... I'm from the Pacific where its usually warm but nothing like a change of scenery for once 😅😂
Great video. The volcano is beautiful.
thank you for your videos!! wonderful information.... hope your ankle heals quickly....
amazing footage!!
Whoa that’s intense! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! So cool! Stay safe. Love from The United States 🇺🇸❤️
I wonder if there are volcanoes in the United states
@@MonkiEnglish1 Indeed, there are! If you go to Wacky..... I mean...
Wikipedia, you can look up "list of volcanoes in the USA." Remember Mount
St. Helens? And remember there were quite a few sightseers who were, uh,
standing a little too close when Mount SaintHelens blew its stack.
Children, Be careful! Don't play with the volcano!
beautiful!
Congratulation. Looks soooo cool.
I read recently that the Icelandic Alþingi is the oldest Parliament in the world! Your short clip of it reminded me!
Epic!
I've been following the coverage on Reykjavik Grapevine. The geyser is estimated at 300 meters high.
I don’t know how I found your channel H. You are pretty awesome, funny. Your English is amazing.
This is great!
That was cool
Thats a great way to see it in Helicopter 🚁 sweet.. hello from New Orleans
Second
Insane but beautiful iceland is an amazing place
Lol, the science people...🤣
That was a good laugh.
Greeting from Hungary :) Be carefull
Hrafna, I'm so jealous you got to see the eruption, and even more you got to see it so close, plus get a helicopter ride over it!! As a photographer, an erupting volcano is one of my dreams to capture. When I was stationed in Keflavik, I missed out on the Hekla eruption, what ended up being called the "Hekla Hiccup". I did take thousands of incredible and amazing photos of Iceland during the 2 years I was stationed there, but an active volcano was never one of them. I am one of the last photographers to ever take photos of Krýsuvík prior to its steam vent erupting, thus destroying the exquisite scenery forever. I was there in October 1999, and the vent blew at the beginning of December 1999. I'm forever glad I captured the photos of Krýsuvík that I did. Maybe I'll post some to Instagram, or maybe make a video montage of before and after photos of Krýsuvík.
Can't wait to go and travel to Iceland haha. Next summer though!!
Very beautiful and very exciting. I’m envious, but I’m happy you got to see it, with your parents - how cool is that ! It looked so wonderful and beautiful. The place is well named. Cheers from Australia. Much love.
Also from Austria
I went watching the volcano the past Friday and is fking amazing and stuning. The hiking was easy but it was a very cold day (at least for me, i'm not icelandinc) with snow and wind, even more wild :D
I will definetly visit it again.
It has to be impressive seeing it from an helicopter. Nice video btw
Ciao Hrafna!
Oooo 😮
Wow!!! You were there!!!! I've been watching it for the past week through afartv!!!!..... So jealous of you right now!!.... 😅
Also..... Sunrises near the volcano had been looking seriously beautiful, with the gushing red lava of the volcano.... Seriously beautiful 😍
Soo cool. Have too visit your beutiful country.Love from Sweden.😃😃
You got a beautiful dimple. I will be visiting Iceland this year. New subscriber from California.
What a beautiful sight it's amazing seeing it on TV can't imagine how beautiful it was seeing it with your own eyes we have no active volcanos in UK so it's something I can never see unless a volcano becomes active whilst I'm on holiday somewhere 😭
Been there less than a week ago :) A moment I'll never forget. Especially when we were only a few people there and one of the walls collapsed.
Awesome helicopter footage.
👍🇺🇸👍
Jumping out of them is a lot of fun too
Nice
I live those moments where they world makes us feel so small....
I have never seen a volcano. I have had these feelings before.
In Brazil, many people were afraid of this volcano's event. Its not common in our country. I don't think my friends and my parents are going to believe on the videos you showed. But this looks so amazing. Your country is very beautiful. Thank you for showing with us.
In Nicaragua, you can also see the active volcano volcan Masaya, and you can also see the reflection of the lava in a restauraunt near by. You can also hike it, or go in a boat ride close to it in lake nicaragua...its really cool, i have never for myself seen it so this is really cool to watch!
Wow. This video is done very profesional.
I love how the shots inside the chopper make it look like you flew the damn thing
I was in Iceland in 1996 and loved it and planning to come over and trek or cycle the island next once Covid is over you should be a tour guide over there as your videos are very informative and useful 👌 #here’s another Welsh word for you to pronunce “diolch blodyn “😁
Hopefully it’s still active in the autumn!😍
I am heading to Iceland in June and these videos help me discover places to go.
Hopefully, I will run into you in Reykjavik. Would love to have a local show me their world, and culture. Yes, I will follow the rules.
What amazing pictures! i think nobody can relate to these feelings who has not been there to see it live.
Unfortunately i'll not get the opportunity to come back to iceland soon. But who knows one day...
And btw: i'm craving for this land(scape) even without active volcano...
Get well soon
"Living in the land of ice and fire"! Thanks for the awesome fun tour Hrafna! Did you get the "Dog Training Clicker" for you and your dog? It's a great tool. Thanks again for a super time.
Iceland is epic! I live in Australia and nothing like this ever happens like in Iceland you have geyser and volcanos and in Australia we have angry people with barbecues! I really want to go to Iceland even more now.
You have salties and spiders too... oh wait.
C'mon, man, you've got to be freaking kidding me. You have the magnificent ocean, amazing beaches, nice weather (well, most of the time :), you have quite a lot of beautiful girls on the streets and awesome coffee! You are living in the one of the best country in the world, and yes - you don't have a winter! Welcome to us, to the poor, incredible boring and totalitarian-like-china Kazakhstan, full of dirt and dust and thieves, where you have -45 at winter and +40 at summer, no ocean, no trees, and the worst thing - no freedom. Sadly, it was a quite nice place, let's say, 40 years ago, but not anymore. I would die to see these Australian shores at the sunset, to walk along the beach hearing of the breath of the ocean's waves - and you can have it for free. Please be happy and grateful for all that you have dude, just believe me :)
Take care of your little ankles Hrafna 😁👍
Amazing - and what a way to see it.
Im an atheist and the only time I ever feel even slightly religious is viewing the splendour of nature from the top of mountains. What a fantastic experience, you'll remember that for the rest of your life - I'm really happy for you.....and a little jealous 😜
You're braver than me going there. Oh yeah & flying...
I LOVE VOLCANOS SO MUCH i wanna live in iceland so baddddd
So beautiful and terrifying! 🔥 🌋
You are such a sweetheart!
*_Bro, I love you._*
Next, Hrafna spicy food challenge!
