This video tour of a funeral home was recorded at French Funerals & Cremations in Albuquerque, NM. The tour was part of a TEDxABQ Adventure in follow-up to Gail Rubin's TEDx talk about end-of-life issues and pre-need planning ( • A Good Goodbye | Gail ... ).
This tour, ably conducted by Apollo Miller, Location Manager and Funeral Director with French Funerals & Cremations, included information about funeral services, cremation, visitations, and details involved in making funeral arrangements. The tour included visits to the funeral home's chapel, visitation rooms, arrangement rooms, and preparation center.

I live in Albuquerque, and when my father passed, we went to French’s for arrangements. This man handled the passing of my father and helped my family through a very difficult time. He presented himself more professionally than I could ever imagine. He knew what he was talking about, extremely helpful, very personable, and had a very calming personality. Very very pleased with my experience with these guys.
Where is this place
This gentalman is a very good hes very very great at his job, I would love for him to do my funeral i really would love that where is this place at? what a proffesional he is
I really like how he keeps saying "our loved ones"!!!!!!!
This guy is really cool!!!!!!!
HonRevPTB People could learn a lot from him. X
This guy has a such great smile. He makes me forget I'm watching a funeral home tour because he's so cool and upbeat!
He's not creepy.
I'm 63 Had a stroke he's thrust worthy
I stumbled upon this totally by accident and I must say how wonderfully he explained this process.
I would want this lovely man to help me at the most horrendous time of losing a loved one. He's reassuring and Calm.
I said the same
Me too
i’m sure this man is an absolute gift to so many grieving families. what an amazing person.
This guy is a cool, handsome, hip cat, it's so weird that he's in this line of work, he's so full of life!!!!!!!
he seems very kind and caring
HonRevPTB you need that type of personality I would assume. Have to be strong and chipper for the people going through some of the hardest times of their lives.
HonRevPTB How exactly is it weird that he's in this line of work? I commend him! Not everyone is into this 'line of work' but many who are actually interested in it, truly care for it. I completely respect that you may not feel that way, that is your own opinion. Death & post mortem care is fascinating, there's no reason to be afraid or disgusted by it, really and truly. We all die! This video exhibits a man who truly loves his profession & I respect that. I think he is very well spoken.
He's supremely professional and clearly very experienced. A credit to his line of work. X
HonRevPTB well he can't be dead 😁 morticians are regular people. The are just interested in motuary science. Somebody's gotta do it. It's just a job.
All funeral homes should be like this one, this young man cares about his job and maintains such a professional manner. I am currently interviewing for a position at a funeral home near me and this video helped me understand so much.
My father inherited a small mortuary in a small town, and before he passed away he asked if I would like to come, and assist him with the daily operations. I said no, because I was afraid of the unknown. This young man is exceptional in breaking everything down to an understandable level. He is so pleasant, and a great consultant for this mortuary. He is truely an asset for this business. Wish I had seen this earlier. I may have changed my mind.
The Young Director was very professional, smart and personable. This video helps to take away the "yuck" of preparing a funeral for someone.
This fellow is so professional. I hope he has a great career and knows people appreciate his demeanor.
He's so charming I forgot why I was watching this for a minute. He clearly has a gift of calming presence.
Ippy Epiphany He really does.
This young man did a great job explaining during this funeral home tour! 👍🏾
Some people are anointed to do certain things. This is a calling to him, not just a job.
This young man is AWESOME! Very knowledgeable in and passionate about the funeral business. My husband passed away in July and I wish I had seen this video prior to his funeral. I’d love to have had an item with his thumb print.
Mr Miller is amazing. He seems so kind, caring and very professional. Some funeral directors come across as insensitive and mercenary. Mr. Miller is a gentleman, and it's obvious.
The respect for the "Baby Families" really touched me. What an added touch, providing rocking chairs throughout the funeral home, is very thoughtful and kind.
Bliss Blissful that kind of got to me too
Do you had a funeral home in Ohio????
raised right has respect and courtesy he was taught manners and it shows
I just want to say that I watched this entire 50 minute video. I was so impressed with the facility and the gentleman guide. He was very sensitive, knowledgeable, and organized. He answered all questions in a careful, sensitive non-offensive manner. I was especially touched by the rocking chair and his explanation of families spending as much time as they want and rocking their baby and also walking around the funeral home holding the baby. That’s so important for the grieving process. Also impressive is the emphasis on what the families want and giving them time and space to have private meetings to talk things out and grieve together initially. I actually cried listening to his comforting words as I could feel the care and love he has for his profession. This was truly amazing. I will no longer be fearful. Thank you so much.
Apollo does not fit the typical Mortician stereotype...he's with it, smart, has a good sense of humor and is outgoing. I hope more people like him are going into the field of Mortuary Science!
I know five funeral director/embalmers at two firms. I didn't say that I believe in the stereotype that many in the public hold of people who work in the death care business.
Yes, I do understand...looking back at the way I wrote it the wording does indeed look like someone who is an outsider to the death care world (as you mentioned.) I wasn't on my "A game" that day...usually I am an incredible writer...ha ha ;)
Geshmake he is very well balanced and warm. I agree.. he is very rare.
Geshmake Many Beautiful Woman are on the funeral scene today. They are Normal like Apollo. The Grave Woman from Atlanta is one, Kari Northy from Michigan is one and Little miss funeral from New York. They all have awesome youtube videos.
So true. He has such a calming, and personable presence. He doesn’t have that weird “undertaker” look/vibe going on.
Loved this. Im 17 and have been studying mortuary science since I was 11 years old I can't wait to be a mortician someday. 😊
Good luck
skylar you can do anything you want in life (:
I hope you achieve your desire to be a mortician. I am 76 and since the age of 10 this is what I wanted to do, work in the funeral industry, alas my parents thought it was nicer if I worked in an office. Then I married and raised a family. The closest I got was cleaning a funeral home once a week.
Keep it up!!
skylar go for it.
You sir are a truly caring person. I would choose this gentleman to care for my family member all day long.
Excellent and awesome knowledge and experience, I was
so pleased to watch this.It has been many years since I have seen
all if this.Thank God for him and how he makes it so personal.
I never thought I would be sitting here watching a funeral home tour with such interest and intrigue.👩💻. I would love to have this place send me out with dignity and in style! Apollo Miller seems like such a very cool guy--knowledgeable, personable and sincere. This business is lucky to have this man represent it. He deserves a pay raise and a promotion, based solely on this presentation!
You are very beautiful inside and out. I was so amazed by the way you speak and the way you carried your self. My parents always say a person should be handled with dignity. A person live with dignity. You truly displayed the care for the dead and the living. You were truly made for this job. Thank you.
I like him. He's very knowledgeable
Derrick Alexander yes he his
This man is SO PROFESSIONAL. Thank you for your service.
I worked in a funeral home. The funeral directors I worked with were like this gentleman. The directors are very caring and compassionate with the family.
this guy is very professional and courteous. I wish everyone was like him.
This young man is very knowledgeable of his profession. I've learned a lot just by watching this video. I'm going to be cremated when I make my transition and this has eased my concerns about the process. Thank you Gail and Apollo. Keep on keeping us informed.
this actually was very comforting to watch. Apollo was very informative and thorough. I now have a better understanding of the "process" and it doesnt seem so scary anymore.
Apollo i found myself smiling alot during this funeral home tour. You are a blessing to your city and your employer.
That he is! 😁
A well done video. Apollo Miller, you are to be commended for your work. You are a well thought and well mannered young man. Wish you much success
He still works there, I looked him up. Good job, Apollo!
this is one of the best Walk throughs of a funeral Home I've seen this man is very knowledgeable and is very patient with a sense of humor with the questions and the people..
This is the best video I’ve seen on the subject. I’m more educated about what happens and what’s available when the time comes. Apollo Miller is an asset to the funeral industry; they should be proud of him. He knows his craft, he’s professional, friendly and approachable. Awesome!
I was impressed by this fellows professional manner. A testament to his devotion to what he does.
I'm on THAT side of RUclips again. Well not really. I'm actually surprised how informative this is. But the guy has a great personality. Great video
Awesome tour by Apollo so informative , inspirational he has so much heart .... gotta love him!!! Very Smart guy Go ATL !!! did he say what school ?
this guy is such a professional very compassionate.
Extremely informative. The facility is impeccable. The gentleman guiding the tour is a total professional. Many thanks.
The young man in the video is very wise in his line of work & very kind. I would love to meet him. ( :
This is such an informative video. This young man is a great spokesman for his profession and you can tell he's passionate about his work and very dignified and caring for both the deceased and the loved ones left behind.
Very informational!!! I can tell this young man absolutely has a passion for his work. This is very important for a family's loved one. God Bless you!!
This gentleman’s presentation was outstanding. I am the Bereavement & Gift of Helps Minister for my church in Columbus, GA. I have attended many Celebrations of Life, Home Going Service of different arrangements. However, this video really educated me on the full behind the scenes aspect of a Loved Ones final transition. May God bless this young man with longevity and wholeness in life and God bless this funeral home businesses.
Thanks, he is a great educator in this video.
What an awesome personality this guy has. Very caring. I hope somebody like him takes care of me when I go.
You need to be commended Mr. Miller. You were / are so open and your explanation so complete unlike I hate to say that very few Funeral Director are. I speak from some knowledge as my relative was a Funeral Director for over 50 years until he passed. He shared so much information with our family making us all aware of the issues, etc.when we passing. Thank you for your video.
This answered so many questions that I have always wondered about. His patience&respect was wonderful. He was so knowledgable of his craft which showed his dedication to deceased ppl. It would be really nice if ppl wouldn't make comments like " he was well spoken&articulate". Millions of black ppl are EDUCATED&work VERY hard to put away stereotypical epithets etc. So when giving a compliment please stop saying "he/she was well spoken&articulate" that's really a insult to blacks. Caucasians never use THAT term when one of their own speaks. At the end of the day we all bleed the same color of blood. It isn't white or black. Let simply learn to respect each other&learn something new&positive about &EACH OTHER. GREAT VIDEO!
Agreed! I've been told my entire adult life, that I am, so well spoken. As if, it's surprising.
Troy Katzenberg I totally agree
This gentleman---Apollo Miller--- is fantastic. Very knowledgeable, articulate and animated. He has great charisma, humor and sensitivity. I wish I knew him. This video was excellent. Thank you.
Omg I just love how mr Miller keep saying our love ones that means he's not just about the money he treats the dead with love and passion.... Love this good job Mr Miller.
Mr. Apollo Miller, you are easy to listen to and very interesting! You are very professional. You know your livelihood~I watched in it's entirety 50:22
My very good friend! So proud of you. You make me want to be great in funeral service....
He has a beautiful smile & very Proffessional
Such a great video! That man is the epitome of professionalism. I hope his career has continued to reward him and that those he's helped are happy with his services.
I'm super late to this, but I was thoroughly impressed by both Mr. Miller and the funeral home itself. It's neat that they have pet-oriented services and even rocking chairs for families of deceased infants, which are things that you probably wouldn't find in corporate-owned funeral homes, whose number one priority is not clients but shareholder returns.
I saw this tour once before , and I have say I have a crush on this young man
This guy has an amazing smile an amazing way of talking to you he is very thorough and he does well explaining what he does!!! Amazing Job!!!💓💓💓
We have a lady here in the UK that attends funerals specifically for the food and drink afterwards. I'm sure she's not the only one.
Great video. Apollo is a remarkable young man. A real credit to his profession. Well done him. X
You mean she attends funerals of strangers for the food
Or that the only reason she would attend a relatives funeral is the food??
Tacky.
I went to mortuary college with Apollo
How long did school take
Normally 2 years
@Zare F , Apollo sounds like a very prestigious school , ill Google . Thank you.
He did a really great job explaining everything even up to a body sitting up in the Prep Room.
His caring about the family is awesome. Please come to Richmond Virginia and train some of these funeral Director's to be above about the truth. To put it all out there truthfully. You need to teach at these seminars for all of the funeral directors in this area. You are awesome young man to God be the glory keep up the good work. And keep being honest in your work. God bless you.
I love my Legacy Touch ring that I had made of my precious Husbands thumbprint.. I feel like he is always with me, because I wear it always. Thank you LegacyTouch.
As you can see there are many successful black men !❤️
Here we go again, he's a man regardless of color, do not play the race card.
I could listen to him all day.. very well spoken...
Great video with an excellent presenter. Great job, Mr. Miller.
Wow, what an wonderful video! Very informative, and makes death seems less scary. Thank you for all you do, Be blessed.
I must agree this is a lovely video. But, it seems everyone who commented on this video is in love with Apollo Miller. LMAO. He is charming.
Very well done. We should all be so lucky to have such professional service.
Love this hole thing. Beautiful music. This man is calming and very professional and knows what he’s doing. Very kind and gentle and his words are warming.
this funeral director is very professional ,he gives lot of informations,,,,,,,,very good .
I truly enjoyed his professionalism. I've learned so much watching this and I'm eager to start my profession in this field.
Wow, he was a VERY, VERY, VERY intelligent, professional, well dressed, well spoken, knowledgeable, caring gentleman who knew his stuff. To see this tour you learn so much, you see the unseen, hear the unheard and know about the business. He remind me of comedian Dave Chappelle and I say that because my deceased brother used to dress as a character that Chappelle mimicked from a movie, so it all tied in together which is so coincidental. Like... To know the process that my brother went thru during his passing HURTS!!! There's so much that I would still like to know (of his PERSONAL process). But he's resting on... My family & I think of him daily. His 6 children & new grandchild misses him deeply. He was 33 & passed 2012... Like, I am STILL in denial... I can't shake "this actual truth" that he's really gone, which hurts the most. Nevertheless, the instructor of this video would make a GREAT college professor lol, I enjoyed the tour... Thanks to the camera team & Mr. Miller.
Very informative... I wish I had the home for myself and my loved ones! Makes me feel a tad more comfortable with handling death.
The man is amazing and who wudnt want to use this funeral home, it looks amazing, they are so caring and will do anything to please the family, well done guys you do a great job 😊
I watched this video before going to my grandfather's celebration of life so I know what to expect
This is the best presentation on funeral services I've seen. The speaker did an excellent job of explaining everything. Well done.
Excellent & very well done. Perfectly & Professionally presented Mr. Miller. Wishing you the best in this business and career.
very nice and clean and we'll maintained business. This video was very informative and professional. I've worked in 2 funeral homes here in Florida but this video of your funeral home is amazing. I plan on owning my own Funeral Home and this video and the tour guy gave me so much motivation to go for it and it also gave me information on some things I didn't know.
Very informative
What a Personality and compassionate man. Thanks for the in-depth tour of a funeral home. This man is an asset to his profession.
Very informative and professional. I love the way that everyone is different and has something for everyone to be accommodating.
Mr. Miller you are a true professional, and you add that perfect touch for dealing with families at their worst time of need. BRAVO!
Oh my! What a warm & beautiful funeral home!
That was very interesting, and Apollo was very informative about the interworkings of the facility, thank you very much for sharing 🌟
I must say this guy is VERY professional, knowledgeable, resourceful, confident, and more importantly, he loves his job- The TOTAL package!!!
That's is very nice and clean funeral home. Pretty nice
You can buy caskets at Costco or Walmart alot cheaper then getting 1 at a funeral home. ( starts at $950. on up)
Vets can be buried at no cost to them -also their wife or Husband & any dependent kids at a Vet. Cemetery.
You can skip the 'service' if you want. Go the cremation way or if you go 'green' you can be buried for like $2,000.- where you are buried in a bio degradable basket or just wrapped in cloth. Or you can donate your body to science & that costs you nothing.
I'm not against funeral homes- but it's good to know there are other ways to go.
Ruth Shelton Well..... if your family loves you that little to throw you in a Walmart casket or wrap you in a cloth like it’s the year 14 ad- then you have at it. Let us know how it goes
really good video, now im wanting to work at a funeral home, Good info Apollo! u take the sad feeling away, very good, you should consider opening a branch in Killeen, TX
This guy is super professional
Thank You for your support and your information about the prospect of planning
This was fascinating. Apollo thank you for sharing...well spoken and well educated young man. Thank you French for sharing! Thank you for this video as well
I stumbled upon this video .. I have to say that this guy really takes his job at heart . Fantastic job explaining everything.
Thanks for watching!
He is so professional and wants to be asked questions. Sooo very proud of him and hope that his family is proud as well. He's going places.
I retired from the mortuary business and wish to say, this presentation was excellent.
I would only add, the American flag in the big chapel was on the wrong side, up the front. Because it is on the same level as the audience, it is to be in THEIR right. (On a stage, then on the speaker's right.)
Excellent. Proud of this firm.
Excellent tour guide.
His choice of wording could not be better. I am sure he is a comfort to the loved ones of the deceased and that the deceased are always cared for respectfully.
Gosh, this man is so knowledgeable, professional, well-spoken and on point.
Well this was definitely more informative than I thought it was going to be.
Very clean & professional looking embalming room.
Here in the united kingdom a cremation service for the loved one is held at the crematorium chapel where a service is held for the loved one and the family and friends of loved one are in attendance. Then the person who conducts the service will press a button and a curtain will close or a door will open then close and the service will be over. Then the coffin is cremated with the loved one inside.
Very informative, interesting and fun. I was especially interested in the information on the people of size and how this was handled. Really felt relieved to know that problem could be and is handled with little trouble. Thank you for posting this video.
This young man is very professional and knowledgeable. He needs to go around the whole country and teach
Rest In Peace to all my dead family members y’all in a better placeful place I will see y’all again someday
Amen!
I don’t know how this got in my feed but I watched this entire thing. Apollo is a gift.
He’s really enthusiastic about his job I like him
I don't know how I got here and I don't know why I watched the whole video. If he had been my University lecturer I would have my PHD by now.
Apollo is an EXCELLENT guide. Thank you
