You can compare punishment for equivalent crimes on case by case, conviction rate of cases opened and investigation rates of complaints etc is some of the ways to see how different accused people's of different races are treated.
Regarding comments below on which group the law is softer, easier, more lenient on. The Sentencing Project has collected statistics on this. Check out their data. The law is systemically tougher on Black Americans...and it's NOT even close 🤷🏼♀️

Crime is easy to get away with in the US for everyone of every race. The violent crime statistics of African American are primarily driven by the same offenders within a small segment of the overall Black population. You can't verify that the system is only good at prosecuting along racial lines as opposed to the different races being better at getting away with crime or the different races having different crime tendencies. For example, statistically White married men commit more white collar crime. Shahid is not going to interpret that as the system targeting White married males in its prosecution and convictions of white collar crime. If someone made the statement, "White married men commit more white collar crime" Shahid would not push back at all. He'd let that statement stand as is. Likewise if I said Afr Americans don't commit much white collar crime, he'd accept that without claiming that our white collar crime just isn't being reported or prosecuted the same.
