In my state, a CCW permit is handy, but not necessary. However, we take being responsibly armed very seriously. The moment someone so much as caries less lethal, they take on responsibilities that someone who has only their hands and feet does not have. For example: If you OC someone because they said something you didn't like, such as Man, those are some ugly pants, then you committed a felony. On one hand, I believe that any USC who is not incarcerated ought to be able to carry, own, possess, or otherwise acquire arms (even felons, after all, people make mistakes and get falsely accused/convicted), however, I would not knowingly be how someone who says something like that woman did in regards to her ex, is in possession and familiarized with arms.

One of the best mindsets for self defense is not getting into avoidable situations.

That's bullshit. So because you are armed to protect yourself, you must give up your right so that another person doesn't attack you and put you in a place where you may have to protect yourself? What fucking logic is that? He should be able to protest just like the dude that shoved him. If the dude that shoved him started attacking him other than a push, he would be justified in defending himself. The armed person isn't the one in the wrong. They harmed no one and had no intention of harming anyone. The AGGRESSIVE guy that is pushing and attacking people is the one that should be asking himself "should I go to this protest? Ryan, have you seen the video from London where a policeman tells a Jewish man that if he keeps going where he needs to go, which happens to be through a pro-Hamas protest, he will be arrested? The man was simply going home after attending a synagogue.
I am writing this because you said, "inserting yourself into crazy situations." This is the latest police principle, and it's dead wrong. The case above illustrates it. The man was simply going home, and the crazy situation inserted itself on him. But from the policeman's point of view, he inserted himself into it. And a policeman cannot figure things out in the heat of the moment. So the whole principle is wrong, and should be abandoned.
Using a gun is a separate issue, of course.

Say if someone disavows any actions by hamas, is not in favour of a ceasefire but is pro palastinian because they believe that everyone deserves clean water and therefore are against the current blockade. Would that be considered supporting hamas? The framing of your statement makes the issue black and white. This allows the other side to do the same. So, they'd be well within their right of saying "you support the genocide and murder of 12,000 children because you stand with Israel and agree with every action they've made". Which isnt a good argument since there isnt a genocide and definitely not 12,000 dead kids as the death toll is given by hamas who is encouraged to lie and claim its all women and children because the pro hamas crowd will believe anything hamas says

My son feels he would like to contribute to the society in a similar way. Gun ownership in Israel is views as a privilege, not a right.
