When my Dad taught me to drive when I was 16, the first lesson was - you always yield the right away to a trucker, always slow down and let them merge safely & if their turn signal stays on a and they have cleared you, blink your brights so they know you’re giving them the room to merge safely. Then he took me out on the major highways near Cleveland Ohio during rush hour and at night and he first demonstrated to me the correct way and then made me do it night after night and day after day. I have always had the utmost respect for truck drivers and I continue to drive the same way I was taught at the age of 16.
When I was learning to drive, 40 years ago now (ouch!), my dad said to me, "Always assume the other guy's an idiot ..... because he probably is!" Best advice I ever got. And videos like yours here suggest his advice applies equally (probably more so) today.
My dad to me a rhyme. He knew he was right as he hurried along. Now he's as dead as if he'd been wrong. Sometimes it's better to give up the right of way.
same. They like to call it 'defensive driving'. Ha, it's really 'guess who the idiot is' at every moment. At every moment I'm making educated guesses about the drivers around me. This kid is driving daddys mustang, this lady has her phone up to her left ear, this guy is going 5 under--either hes about to turn, looking for something or is old.

I can’t imagine doing anything to make truck drivers’ jobs harder. We rely on them to bring the things we need to grocery stores and retail outlets and yet they’re so under appreciated. A big thank you to all truck drivers!
Good reminders especially of how we car drivers need to give these guys and gals plenty of time and room and how much they have to deal with being on the roads with each other and the rest of us. Thanks, drivers, for all you do getting our goods to us. There should be a national appreciation day for you.

The way I see it is, trucks are working, I’m in a car, I’m going to work or shopping or shit that can wait a minute or two so I give the trucks a bit of space & a bit of courtesy as I want the items to be trucked to the shops. Keep on trucking.
I am the same way but that being said, even though they have the right of way, I hate truckers that dont get over to let you merge on the highway if no one is around. Also the ones that dont speed up or slow down if they are passing another tucker...
@@MrGaiden100 I quit moving over to let people merge because 9 times out of 10. everyone will start passing me on the right holding me in the middle lane. Even other trucks will hold me instead of slowing down a little to let me back over. So I don’t do it anymore, it’s up to the person entering the highway to merge safely. Speed up or slow down.
Truckers are carrying food and goods to make our life better. A douche in a pickup truck who decides it is a good idea to brake check people is only carrying his head inside his ass, which does not seem to benefit anyone.
The most amazing thing I ever had was I installed two electric actuators to automatically open my tool box lid. I had a 52" 300W LED light bar installed so I could park my trailer at night and see the stupid thing in the booneys. One day inwas heading to a job with trailer in tow and the road merged from 2 to 1 this idiot in a mustang tried flying past me on the right but the lane ended to soon and I didnt let him in since it would have put me into oncoming. We get to a light and he is slamming his horn, flicking me off the works. I just flipped the switch opened the lid and gave him a light show. Light turned green I shut the lid and drove on my wayward son. It's the little things in life.

Thanks for the commentary - that's a real good addition to these vids. I try not to ever ride up on anyone ahead of me, just keep to the old rule I was taught as a young driver: one car distance ahead for every 10 miles per hour. Works well for me. I also don't care if people cut in front when I'm doing the speed I choose, which is usually about 5 mph over whatever limit.
Just sayen....if you breakcheck a trucker he/she should be aloud to just push you off of the road and keep going(then charge you for the damage to said rig)
I agree, if you have evidence (dashcam video) that shows a perceived threat to you personally or property, then "stand your ground" rules should be applicable. Unfortunately, this would not apply to the vast majority of single celled organ donors (aka morons) waiting to be immortalized on RUclips.
Can't charge them for the damage unless you get their info. You can get the tag and they'll swear all day long it wasn't their truck (stolen tag, how convenient) or them driving. IMO charges should be levied on the owner of the vehicle, regardless of who's driving.
@@UnchainedAmerica -There are times when paperwork and overall costs just don't matter as much as providing so sweet payback to those who imagine that they are worth more you are. It would come down to a Dirty Harry line, "A man's dot to know his limitations".
Its mostly the ignorance around the physics in play with a semi. Your average car is about 4000 lbs a pick up truck is about 5600 or so. Now Just a Tractor( The Truck isself) weighs in at 28 to 36,000 lbs give or take a couple thousand. A dumptruck empty can easily be 40,000. You average loaded truck is 60 to 80,000 lbs rolling down the highway. Wanna take your car up against that mass? The average weight of a loaded dumptruck by me is 90k I give them all the space they need.
Honestly, I've seen fellow truckers also doing some really stupid shit. Last week on the Jersey turnpike, a tanker hauling fuel was drifting all over the place. I passed him on the right, he drifts into my lane, pushing me on to the shoulder. As I pass him, I look over...he's texting on the phone. Carrying 400,000 gallons of fuel and texting while driving....unbelievable
1:52 "Never Pass on the right." In a perfect world, yes. Unfortunately left lane campers pretty much force people to pass on the right. Though clearly in this case moron was just an impatient moron, as the truck WAS getting over.
Yeah. And it's possible to pass on the right safely in certain circumstances - i.e. if you can do it quickly enough that the left lane camper has no time to accidentally move right into you, and you won't have to cut him off after either
I feel like you might have misunderstood… he was saying it’s ok to pass someone who is camping in the left lane by using the right lane. Not by going off the road… two different scenarios from this video.
Yeah should have been truckers unite to stop stop brake checker not block they never once block that guy just stopped them from blocking the other truck
@@jasonjohnson-gl9sc both truckers and cars do boneheaded things, we even saw it in this video like the trucker who tried to do a U turn on an interstate.
I have great respect for all our truck drivers on the road. Even on my bike I let them in when merging plus just help them as much as possible. Without them we wouldn't have the things we possess. .....think about it. I sure do appreciate them.
Most of the time when I am cut off by a truck to pass another one it doesn’t bother me I know once you slow down a semi it’s hard to get back up to speed but if you’re going to pass another truck then freaking do it I’ve been behind trucks that are side-by-side for 5 miles
I'm usually really nice to truckers, giving them extra room, letting them in, and taking into account their loads. But there have been times when my eyes started twitching. Like the time a truck got slowed down behind another on a big hill, cut me off to pass, and then couldn't get up any faster and I was stuck going 20 in a 65 for several miles. Not much in the grand scheme of things, but I flicked him off when he no doubt couldn't see me (pretty much the extent of my road rage).
@Kimberly Woodbury I agree, it sucks being in a car watching that while also being stuck behind them. But its a bitch to downshift on a grade, and if we lose turbo boost while shifting, we just lost most momentum and are now doing 10mph or less up a hill. Multiply that by all of the hills on the road, and we can lose much of our valuable government controlled drive time of 11 hours per day.
Yup see it all the time 2 trucks acting like pace cars. The Delaware Water Gap on I80, they will have 2000 foot trail of cars behind them and zero fuc#%$ given!!!
@@eamonngreenan7410 Most trucks are speed limited and, again, our drive time is regulated so 1 or 2mph really does matter for us to get paid. It's bullshit when one truck or the other won't yield and let traffic pass, but I still want people to be aware of something call a speed governor.
You know if it wasn’t for the truck drivers we would have nothing on our Shelves or in the stores or wherever because they are the ones that get the stuff from the warehouse to the stores so show some respect to the truck drivers truly 👍🚛🚚👍🚚🚛👍
When I was taught to drive in the 1980’s my instructor really focused on driving around 18 wheeler’s and other trucks. It was instilled where there blind spots are.. how there braking is slower than a car. How to be responsible and respectful around these trucks.
That's a good idea and kudos to that instructor. I didn't start to really pay attention to a semi's limitations until I got my CDL, and now I share what I know with anyone who is willing to listen; it really sets apart the good drivers from the "steering wheel holders"
Same idea as trying to beat a train at the crossing, the can’t stop fast. Semi trucks are heavy when loaded and they can’t stop easy so it’s really stupid to pull in front of one and go slow or brake check them.
Honestly it seems like the semis were being the pricks here. Someones high beams arent that bothersome when youre so high up. That and they dont even look like his brights are on... My ruling is the semis are being pricks and deserved it.
High beams are still bright as shit from a semi 😂 No excuse to have rear facing white lights and brake check 40 tons at 60 mph. rolling an entire hurricane of coal like a dumb asshole 😂😂 he got corrected by some dudes behind the wheel of a real diesel
I mean its possible they mistook his lights for high beams? My trucks lights are bright as fuck and there isnt much of a difference between my low and high beams and i constantly get flashed for it lmao
Yeah i know that’s a problem with the new silverado 1500s 😂 i get flashed like every night in the ol work truck. never seen it on a 4th gen dodge truck though, the only way would be if the headlights were way out of alignment or if they installed some shitty aftermarket LEDs
I've watched a few of these videos and I gotta hand it to truckers - they seem like the calmest, most emotionally intelligent people on the road. Not a single cuss word!
@@UnchainedAmerica how, exactly? When the pickup slowed down, the truck did too, to the best of his ability. And the truck tried to get around him, to just get away. So, he flashed his brights at the pickup? How's that "aggressive"?
@@UnchainedAmerica You do realize that because trucks easily weigh 30+ tons, they can't stop on a whim like smaller cars can. He wasn't being aggressive at all. He legitimately had a harder time slowing down because of the sheer weight. It takes longer for bigger creatures to slow down. As the saying goes: The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Kyle Smith it takes a long time for one truck to pass another at 2 mph difference. A lot of times I just wait until there is a lot of space before I make a move such as this. But before you know it, they all just show up very quickly. I am governed at 66mph. In a 70mph zone it doesn’t take long for the faster traffic to catch up. Usually at 80+mph. But all I ask is keep in mind that this is not a race, first one there receives no cash reward or prize. Just your life and we all get to keep that when we relax. Thanks for understanding. I’ll get out of your way now.
I don’t agree with brake checking truck drivers bc I understand it’s harder for y’all to slow down like that but I grew up in an oil town where there were a lot of truck drivers and some of the ones I had experiences with were the truck drivers just being complete a holes and cutting u off and stuff bc they were bigger.
@B0omer96 l hate to say it but with dead lines and more an more vehicles on the road patience is wearing down a bit, I still really enjoy the job but some practices l see from truckies and car drivers really make me wonder what the hell are they thinking.
@B0omer96 Yes. They are more aggressive. This is my 33rd year out here and it is getting demonstrably worse every year. There are deadlines and hours of service regulations that are more strictly tracked than before which play a part somewhat, but it's no excuse. The REAL reason is the huge influx of new drivers to the industry that just a year ago were Carpenters, or warehouse workers. The ads promise the world and a boat load of money. Lots of them have been driving less than a year and drive the truck the same way they do their cars. For the most part your seasoned pros won't behave like this.
My dad always said "just because they use a blinker doesn't give the right to cut you off".I said that to a driving instructor and he called me aggressive.Maybe true, but don't cut me off!
I lost my son 11-2-2020 because of a brake checker like these idiots. My son wrecked because of him, and witnesses say he had avoided hitting the car that brake checked him. Brake checker got away scott free. People in cars & pick ups need to show respect to you professional drivers. Thank you guys for putting yourselves on the line every day.
For some reason people think Semi's can stop on a dime. Pull out in front of them and expect them to instantly stop. They need a course on how to behave around Semi's and motorcyclists.
@@bryanfarrow914 It never fails to amaze me how blind people are when it comes to bike rider's. I've sat at stop signs and watch cars pull out in front of a motorcyclist when they are just a car length or so away. Dangerous and rude. We have a side road that turns off the highway nearby and it's a favorite for motorists to just barely slow down to stop or look. So a few of us got together and went to the Sheriff told them they needed to go watch. Didn't think they did until an off duty cop on his bike saw first hand what happens. A few tickets were written that day. Semi driver's dont fare much better. The 4 lane ends and goes to a 2 lane. Car's will speed up to pass the semi and then slow down. Or they pull out of a side road where the 4 lane and 2 lane meet and slow down.
2:40 why would you turn your brights on him? He was just passing you and you get behind him then flash your brights. Not cool. Could have caused an accident. When you have brights behind you, especially from a big truck. It isn’t safe. I don’t blame him for getting mad at you.

I taught my kids how to look ahead and make room for trucks for variety of reasons. Middle lane is where trucks go if there's anything on the shoulder... Middle lane is responsible for making room. I even taught them how to tell trucks they can come over. Wish more people would be more grateful and responsible for driving with trucks.
3:40 is it just me or were those semis trying to run that guy off the road and the only reason i can think of is because he was going to... Pass them? I guess he shouldve known better than to drive on their road huh lol
New driving license applications and renewals: Candidates must be required to watch a compilation video like this and answer a handful of quiz-type questions at the end.. in order to get their new license or renew it.
Are you suggesting they would not look into thing like this on their own time! Would that be the 4-wheelers or government licensing bodies ? Or are you being more devious, you're not suggesting future truckers view something like this? Imagine the scare where they have to figure out what level of insurance they'll need!

Then he took me out on the major highways near Cleveland Ohio during rush hour and at night and he first demonstrated to me the correct way and then made me do it night after night and day after day.
I have always had the utmost respect for truck drivers and I continue to drive the same way I was taught at the age of 16.

Now Just a Tractor( The Truck isself) weighs in at 28 to 36,000 lbs give or take a couple thousand. A dumptruck empty can easily be 40,000. The average weight of a loaded dumptruck by me is 90k I give them all the space they need.

Some trucks have speed and rpm limiters. My company is set to 63
I'm usually really nice to truckers, giving them extra room, letting them in, and taking into account their loads.

Is that like when the moron truckers in complete disregard of the merge signs clogged up I-81 in PA going into the construction zones?
@@michaelh2034 Not sure if same situation...
The first is just a typical Washington driver. Especially the ones from Crackima. Damn the 2nd one is also right next to me and again a Washington motorist. They had construction right there for over 2.5 damn years!
Honestly, I thought Washington drivers were bad. But then I moved to Minnesota lol.
I see so many people driving stupid around trucks. I wish I had a bumper sticker that said... "If you buy ANYTHING show respect to those bringing your stuff to you!!" I taught my kids how to look ahead and make room for trucks for variety of reasons. Middle lane is where trucks go if there's anything on the shoulder... Middle lane is responsible for making room. I even taught them how to tell trucks they can come over. Wish more people would be more grateful and responsible for driving with trucks.
"Stirred His Cheerios the wrong way" I dont know why but i really like that phrase.
As I watch these videos, the decision I made 4 years ago to quit truck driven was a wise one.
I've never heard of "stirring one's cheerios" nor can I find anything 🤔 on it.
3:40 is it just me or were those semis trying to run that guy off the road and the only reason i can think of is because he was going to... Pass them? I guess he shouldve known better than to drive on their road huh lol
I'm guessing you're the type of person who has flood light add-ons on the bottom back of your truck and loves to break check semi-trucks too.
A lots of people driving on the road thinks they own the road, they can drive however they want
Such respect for our Truck Drivers! Thank You all, for all you do! Cause what we just saw it isn’t for the weak! 🙏🤗🙏
Dashcam lessons you remember that one episode where someone calls someone a douche canoe? Lol
4:01 i dont really see anything wrong with this one lol, gave the truck enough of a warning before he went into his lane.
Yeah, a little tight, but not crazy bad
Could be just how hard the guy braked
And he could’ve moved over a tad more into the side lane on the road
New driving license applications and renewals: Candidates must be required to watch a compilation video like this and answer a handful of quiz-type questions at the end.. in order to get their new license or renew it.
Are you suggesting they would not look into thing like this on their own time! Would that be the 4-wheelers or government licensing bodies ?
Or are you being more devious, you're not suggesting future truckers view something like this? Imagine the scare where they have to figure out what level of insurance they'll need!
@@weldonyoung1013 Hi Weldon, I generally think folks need to see these things so that they understand the heartbreak and time & money that foolish actions or just being inattentive on the roads cause for **everyone**. If I ran a licensing office, I would have these videos -- rather than sports, etc. -- running on a loop on a wall TV in the waiting area. People can get sports and stuff elsewhere on their own time.
@@davidringo4672 , yes your points are logical.
My first comment was just to give them a humour point-of-view.
For some reason many people have homour stick with them.
Maybe it is the relief from tragidy.
Or that, it is a not me moment.
A wise man once said, "never play chicken with an 18-wheeler."
You have to have a negative iQ to break check a semi.
Every time I think about going back to driving truck I watch a video like this and I remember all the BS I had to put up with.
Its a good reason to avoid the problems. I worked retail at one time; never again.
I copy that, over!,... The road to hell and back is just one long drawn out battlefield. In 20 years in Afghanistan we had about 2,400 warriors killed, and 25,000 wounded. Here in the good old USA, about 34 to 38,000 men women and children are killed in vehicle crashes each year.
I started my trucking career in Vietnam 1968/'69 ,and recently I looked online to see what the deaths of soldiers numbered, and it was about 57,k for the 11 years, but, here in the states there was 52,725 motorist killed in 1968 and 53,543 killed in 1969. For a grand total of 106,268. Ironic in a way? I loved trucking...not so much the pay, but It gave my family a decent life. I was forced off my job in 2018 because I couldn't pass DOTs "whisper test" on the physical. What a joke... a frigging whisper was the enemy that finally took me out.🚛😎🇺🇸✌
Anybody ever did that to me, I would never stop, just make sure you got a dash cam and to prove what they were doing should be all right
Did what to you?
@@tstraw48 I wold just ram them
we sure see a lot of fedex trucks in accidents in these videos. wonder why.
They used to work for Swift.
@Giada_De_Low_Rent_Tits I've noticed this too. It's like they just moved up from running box trucks and can't seem to remember they've got a trailer back there.
@Giada_De_Low_Rent_Tits

Pmsl @ "stirred his Cheerios the wrong way" not heard that one before 😘😂😂
3:46 that other trucker said: If you can't beat them, join them" lmao
I love when the one trucker stuck up for his buddy and almost ran the guy off the road
He should have got over more and make that jerk hit the end of the gardrail.
7:13 This guys dash cam is blithering drunk !
@8:18, the FEDEX driver must've been asleep at the wheel that day ! How did he think that turn was gonna be successful ? ?
2:00 Wow, dash cam from the future!
