Porting was easier when we had actual gaskets to match against. With these new plastic manifolds with rubber gaskets, I've found the best thing is to grab a piece of clear plexi, drill it to match the bolt holes, then mount it to the head. You can look through and port the plexi to match the head ports, then move the plexi to the new manifold, and scribe an exact line.
You didn't smooth out the parts where the runners are glued together and mismatched. It's 3-4 " deep from the opening and hard to get at with short bits. I use 6" carbide cutting bits to smooth the joint areas and then sandpaper by hand as far as I can reach.
@@TunedRAMS I just don't see the gains from it. I understand if it's really thick with small ports. But if it's already pretty big, I don't see the benefits of scraping at it. To be honest? Your better off getting a aluminum custom manifold made for your needs, It mite be more money.. but it gives you the chance for boost applications. Besides looking much better. Plastic has the attendance to crack under stress and leak. I wish they never went that route in cars with v8s.
Hey I picked up on your Massachusetts accent I live in ma as well. Central ma . to be exact how much would you charge me to port match my plastic intake for a 6.0..
@TunedRAMS I was jw I have a 2019 ram2500 6.4 tuned full exhaust,cai. Wanted a tb but wasn't sure which one I should do. 85mm thru bore or 90 or a hellcat one

I just ported my 6.4l intake, i used 80 grit cartrige cone rolls & a carbide bit on the TB side!
Going to use a 120 or 180 grit to make it smoother!
Pretty simple right!?
@@TunedRAMS yeah, just time consuming
Nice video. My 370z upper intake is similar and I'm porting it too.
Good stuff bud, iv always thought that I had the skill to do my own, never had the guts to do it! But you made it seem just as simple as I thought.
Like I said, if you are good with your hands you can make just about anything happy 😆👀
@@TunedRAMS Facts!!!😉💦
nice work! ported my car 6.4 manifold myself too. though im probably gonna have to do it again. my heads are at BES getting ported and milled.
Yeah it’s pretty easy if you’re good with your hands. Helps prevent turbulence inside 💪🏼

Hey mike what did you use to smooth out the plastic and how did you clean the manifold after porting ?
Exactly what you see in the video, ended it with a scour pad
This method workd for pre 70s motor . To do this to a late model stock motor is a complete waste of time hoping for some hp gain for penny's.
True,, benefitted gains with supporting mods. Port matching ported/polished/decked heads and the list goes on.
Nice
Mine is Procharged so Jay sent me a cam to complement the lag and hope to get it where I want it to be currently running 6.5 lbs of boost 450WHP

I understand porting metal intakes.
But plastic? Wouldn't it lose Strength?
Not really they’re pretty thick

@@shaneonews6791 who can make custom intake manifolds? I'm interested in going with this route

Do u think it could be ported to 92mm like the hellcat tb
If there’s enough meat, send it!

It's a smooth smooth oem ? Casting aluminum is different
Sure is

I have the HPT cam that I will be using from Moe’s performance,
