Stromberg carlson model AU 57 Tube Amp

Stromberg Carlson Model AU 57 Tube amp with all original tubes. Love the sound and look of a warm tube amplifier! I would like to thank www.audiophool.... for the info, including schematics and a Sam's list on this amp!

These amps really shine.,actually the sound is incredible when you play movies (DVD etc.) that have great soundtracks i.e.The Empire Strikes Back, Born Free,etc.(especially 60's-70's movies)..The key is use a big speakers and yes., turn the bass all the way up through equalizer.The richness,warmth and dimension of the music is jaw dropping.Rumble frequencies like motors, airplanes etc.are amazing...Watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind and play the audio through vacuum tube amps.Wonderful!

As years have passed since i posted this video, Just a year ago did I get some knobs..and they are the OEM's. Working now on replacing a couple film caps, as to bring every thing up to par! All my 12AU7 input tubes are ready to be replaced as well. Thanks for the input, and viewing! Awesome you own a nice amp from Stromberg Carlson as well.

Oh, please tell me where you got those AU-57 knobs ?? I just got an AU-57, which from the photos was pretty in good condition but arrived from shipping to me all bashed up - with one of the knobs completely broken and the metal bent inwards where that knob & it’s pot is. Mine is an early version with mostly AU7 valves/tubes. Had it worked on by an excellent tech before being shipped to me, with modern jack sockets and an XLR mic socket, for use with e.guitar, bullet-mic harmonica and a vocal mic, with one spare channel. Speaker jack socket too. Will hopefully do a video when I can, but I just broke my wrist last week so guitar playing is out of the question for 6 weeks or more, boo hoo !

Conservative output rating. A pair of 6L6 tubes produce 50 watts at around 300 volts plate supply.

chicken head knobs are what were used originally, i believe. i have an AM 43 i plan on turning into a guitar amp this winter

Hope you replaced all paper caps. You can't expect clean sound if you're still using all of the old paper caps. Capacitors make far more difference in audio quality (fuzzy, distorted, etc.) than tubes. A weak tube will play just fine when the rest of the circuit is performing properly.
